“The friendliest hospitality in a really cool Victorian mansion”
Reviewed 20 July 2014

My daughter and I spent a day at West Point Military Academy to visit my dad's grave; he was buried there in January. We stayed two nights in the area. We stayed at Stockbridge Ramsdell largely because it was a Victorian Mansion, and I love staying in old B&Bs that burst with character, and partly because it was less expensive than other B&Bs in the area. What we found was a gem. The hosts, Parish and Nancy, were some of the most accommodating hosts I've had, and I've stayed at a number of B&Bs. The breakfasts were delicious and sustained us until midafternoon. We were in the Bridge View room on the third floor, which was very comfortable and charming. All in all, it was a great experience. We will stay there again for future visits to Dad's grave.

My girlfriend and I had a wonderful time during our long weekend there. A beautiful old house with a view of the Hudson from our room. Very quiet but within short walking distance of lots of restaurants. Nancy and Parish are wonderful hosts and went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. And, Parish is one Hell of a cook. We'll be back for sure!

I was warmly welcomed and comfortably cared for at this historic inn. B and B innkeepers nancy and parish made my stay delightful, and offset an otherwise somewhat stressful travel experience with their generosity and fine hospitality. the location is beautiful right on the hudson; the cookies are scruptious; and the breakfast is hearty, healthy and delicious!
walk the block and enjoy all the lovely old historic homes, but this one is one of the loveliest. the room was well-appointed; clean and cozy.
innkeepers are welcoming but do not hover or stifle.

We stayed here over the weekend while attending our friend's wedding nearby. Two adults and two kids. Had a lovely time. The mansion/home is well maintained, has lovely vintage decour, and the breakfast each morning was amazing--healthy, yummy, and plentiful. We stayed in the one room that has an encolsed porch with an amazing view of the Hudson river. Perfect to lounge in, and for our children to play in. Highly recomended to anyone visiting the area.

I visited Stockbridge Ramsdell with my boyfriend, his brother, and their father--they are all from Colombia and I am from the US. We were not the sole guests at the b&b--there were also Japanese, Korean and Polish guests (in addition to a few other Americans.) The breakfasts, cooked by Nancy and Parish, were not only delicious but the company was interesting and lively.

The rooms are amazing--you can build you own fire, and we had a beautiful view of the Hudson River. Nancy and Parish were really attentive to our needs. My boyfriend and I were splitting a bottle of wine up in our room--when the bed was made (by Parish or Nancy) they saw we didn't have proper wine glasses and so left us a pair.

Newburgh is an interesting city, made more so by its proximity to Beacon and NYC. It has clearly fallen on hard times but it is a place with character. We spent 4 days going back and forth from Newburgh to Beacon and other parts of upstate NY. We were always happy to come home to the warmth, hospitality and comfort of the Stockbridge Ramsdell House. Thank you for a great stay.

We spent Two nights in the Beau Rivage room at Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving night we were the only guests in the house, which was quite nice! The owner was away until Friday and we wed served by the owner's (Nancy) assistant Parish who was very friendly and accommodating as the breakfast Chef. Parish prepared a full delicious breakfast in the dining room and since we were the only guests we were able to persuade him to sit with us and chat about the history of the B&B. The house is 140 years old, originally owned by the President of the Erie Railroad. The room we had was spacious with a working fireplace and a fully glassed in porch over looking the Hudson River. The house has five guest rooms with Beau Rivage being the largest. My only complaint is a minor on in that although the house had WiFi, only basic cable was available on the TV. If you are looking for a "laid back" very friendly B&B, this is the place! Tell Nancy we sent you!!

Loooved our beautiful Beau Rivage room with Hudson River view and our own fireplace! It was so cozy to fall asleep to the crackling embers, and then wake up to the sun streaming through the ivy on our windows... absolutely picturesque and cozy. Everything was very clean and orderly while still maintaining perfect historical charm. We also loved our kind and fun host!

Room Tip: Loved Beau Rivage because of the private sun deck and fireplace.
