Trying not to be repetitive, the hotel is a wonderful place to stay while visiting Niagara Falls. Our third floor room was surprisingly spacious. The lighting was adequate while being energy efficient. My wife used the floor lamp, which could be easily repositioned, for reading. The king bed was quite comfortable and felt good after a day of sight-seeing. We enjoyed the Kuerig coffeemaker and were very pleased with the bottled water to brew with. The Front Desk crew also delivered fresh-baked (they were still warm & soft) cookies to our room! These are things you don't see in most hotels. The hotels linens were much better than we are used to; they were clean, soft, and didn't have that chlorine smell most others do. Breakfast was also a bright spot! There were plenty of choices and they were replenished often. The coffee was hot and fresh (but a bit stronger than I care for). The staff was quiet but ever-present. Tables were cleared and reset in minutes. The bartender (Chris) was very helpful to us and helped make our stay memorable. I can't say enough positive things about the folks at the front desk. They are fantastic and do a terrific job. There had been a glitch in our reservation and they worked very hard to resolve it. They also helped make this a wonderful Thanksgiving getaway. If you're picky, you'll find something to complain about. We felt good staying at this hotel, on the American side, supporting our own country. The Giacomo will be a first choice for our return to Niagara Falls.

My husband and I recently stayed at The Giacomo hotel in Niagara Falls, NY. Although the town has seen better days this renovated building is wonderful. As noted by others, the lighting is a bit dim in the guest rooms but the room and bath were super comfortable--we got the corner room with Jacuzzi and fireplace. The friendly young staff really made the stay special. They have a car service which will take you anywhere in a five mile radius so we valeted the car and let them drive us to dinner! They recommended Villella's when we said we like Italian. What a treat! Very authentic. The arancini were just like we had in Sicily. Overall, we had a very nice stay at the Giacomo and would definitely stay there again.

Glad to find this place in the otherwise mediocre hotel landscpe of Niagara Falls, New York. Great views of the rapids, the falls and the Canadian side. Don't miss the skyview lounge. Lounge and breakfast area are nice gathering spots. The 16th floor suite is exceptional. The staff was very accomodating. The room decor is on the dark side. That is not necessarily a bad thing, but the rooms could use more light. The housekeeping and physical plant were only average. Not a problem now, but could become one with additional wear and tear.

While an undeniably beautiful and distinctive place to stay, this hotel isn't quite all it presents itself to be. We paid for a room with a fireplace, which they talk up on their Web site, only to discover that it was an ELECTRIC fireplace -- a bit misleading, and our room remained chilly despite our repeated adjustments to the thermostat. It also took awhile to get any hot water. The large-screen flat-panel TV rendered a fuzzy picture. We also discovered that their "room service" amounted to their calling a deli (with limited selection) down the street and their "butler service" was simply their term for the standard concierge. On the plus side, there was good soundproofing throughout, our room was gigantic and immaculately clean, our bed was comfortable, the staff were courteous, and the complimentary breakfast was a step or two beyond Continental. In short, if pretty surroundings are primarily what you're after, you'll be largely pleased. However, if you're looking for a true luxury experience, this ain't it...especially if you're there during the colder months.

Myself and three girlfriends stayed in 2 rooms at The Giacomo. One room was on the 3rd floor, the other on the 4th floor. Both rooms were great! Very comfortable and affordable. We all loved how uniquely the rooms were decorated. Kind of "funky"....not your average roadside hotels.
Breakfast each morning was delicious and all staff were very friendly and helpful.

The Giacomo was really beautiful. The extra detail with the fabrics in the room made it feel so luxurious. The curtains are (or appear to be) shantung silk, there were brocade pillows and a brocade throw on the bed, accent walls were wallpapered with a damask print (even in the bathroom), and the bed was so comfortable. It had a pillow top on the mattress that you just sink into (in a good way). The bathroom was HUGE and beautiful. There is a glass shower as well as a large jetted tub. Bath salts are gratis. Though the artwork was a print and not the original painting, I still found them beautiful. Also, they have an energy conservation system in the room. There are timed lights and electronics that use movement sensors (closet lights, room lamps, television), and a personal heating/cooling unit (very quiet) in each room. The only issue we had was figuring that all out. We were snuggled up in the bed and hadn't moved. The TV turned off and the room started to cool. We figured it out though, and my Honey was able to set the control to our preferences. The hotel was nice outside our room as well. The staff was friendly and helpful. The two lounges were very nice and extremely comfortable. They had live music in the first level lounge one night. The staff baked cookies that were delish and there was a tasty complimentary breakfast every morning. Not a continental breakfast...a real breakfast complete with bacon, eggs, waffles, potatoes, yogurt, cereal, fruit, coffee, juice, tea, etc. The location is perfect for The Falls! You can walk to the National Park in less then five minutes. The park is beautiful (very clean and appealing to the eye). I recommend you purchase the Niagara Falls Discovery Pass and take the free trolley to all the locations. The Gorge Tour/Cave of the Winds Tour is a must! I repeat, the Gorge Tour/Cave of the Winds Tour is a must! There is a nice place to eat called Cafe Lola. It's in walking distance and the have the tastiest Monte Cristo panini I've ever had, and the lobster macaroni (serving is for 2 people) is delish. We end up spending $30 for the 2 sandwiches and side salads, as well as the macaroni. Now back to The Falls, there are nice views of the American Falls and Horseshoe falls from the American side, but if you want the BEST views, take your passport and walk across the bridge (about 2 blocks long) to Canada. If you have little ones, tweens, and younger teens; they'll LOVE the Canada side. Just around the corner from the bridge were haunted houses (I went late October), a Ferris wheel, arcades, wax museums, Ripley's Believe it or not, etc. There are several blocks that are jammed packed with fun for the kids around the corner from the bridge. There are casinos on both sides (American & Canadian) for the adults. You just can not beat the location of The Giacomo! You can walk to everything and you have the quietness of the American side smaller town and the liveliness of Ontario on the Canadian side… and it’s all at your fingertips. I would definitely book the Giacomo again. Tip: Make sure the taxi takes credit cards. The fare from Buffalo airrport to Niagara Falls, NY is $65. I ended up with an independent taxi on my way back to the airport and he wouldn't take my card. If you book a car early, you might be able to beat the $130 round trip fare.
