I took my mum to Cape Verde for a well needed rest. She doesn't get out of her comfort zone much so was very concerned I had booked it all myself.
The holiday was just what we needed. The apartment was spacious and clean and had everything we needed. We bought food and made some meals ourselves.
There are many pools at the complex which is where we spent most of our time - water was quite cold but we did go in february. The beach is on the doorstep too.
We ate at the restaurants most evenings which were quite reasonable if you are not all inclusive - it worked for us to just eat out in the evening. If you are self catering you can get a taxi to the centre for 5 euros and there is a supermarket.
The rental of the apartment was very organised and easy - Roy arranged a taxi from the airport for us, and put me in touch with a lady who organised an excelled trip of the island. We had a few queries while we were there and Roy responded very quickly - we could not have asked more from a host.
Excellent value for money considering everything was on our doorstep!
I will definitely be looking to return
Great stay at Dunas beach resort and spa.... good food in all of the resort restaurants... particularly Rancho steak restaurant. Antonio was very helpful and looked after us particularly well.
We had a fabulous couple of weeks at this resort. The whole place is very relaxed and extremely friendly. Plenty choices of places to eat or have a refreshment.
The first week we had a four hour island tour which was pretty informative about the island of Sal itself. While we were in the resort we took in a couple of shows.
Chicago plus The Lion King. Both were very entertaining and very enjoyable. Also had a couple of trips into Santa Maria to see a bit of local life. The rest of the time we spent on the beach. I can't speak highly enough of the staff and their service.
The accommodation was first class and immaculate. Would certainly return again.
Really enjoyed our two week stay at the apartment.
A very well equipped, spacious and modern living space in a great location on a great hotel complex.
The only thing that we overlooked slightly was the fact that we were visiting a fairly remote island and the supermarket was a bit lacking on some essentials, but this wasn't really a major problem, we ate out in Santa Maria each evening and there is a really good selection of restaurants and bars there.
I very rarely visit the same place twice but I would happily stay in this apartment again for a relaxing vacation!
Stayed at the apartment for 2 weeks in March. It was on the 5* Melia Dunas complex and was a really lovely place to stay - it had everything you needed for self catering, otherwise you could eat at the restaurants on site or in Santa Maria. The people on the complex and in Santa Maria were all very friendly. We didn't eat on site as it was fairly pricey - dinner was Euro49 or a full days food/drink was Euro65 per person (you can buy 7 days all inclusive for the price of 6). We preferred to go into Santa Maria by taxi (Euro6 return during the day and Euro8 after 6pm) where there was a wide range of restaurants. We were able to eat for cEuro40 for 2 people including drinks. We did use the coffee shop on site a couple of times and it was excellent - cappuccino and cake for 2 for Euro9. The complex is fairly big and was good for a walk after dinner. There was a good variety of entertainment at night. The grounds were well maintained with a great variety of flowers and shrubs.
The apartment had a nice balcony overlooking one of the pools and a lovely secluded sun terrace on the roof, which to be honest is where we spent most of our time. Temperature was mid twenties every day with no rain. We didn't use the beach although the sun beds/beach furniture looked good - sea had some rocks so care would be needed if swimming.
Would recommend the place for a nice relaxing holiday.
Spacious and modern penthouse apartment. Good quality kitchen appliances. Two bathrooms (one en suite) which was great. Large tv's in lounge and ensuite bedroom. Plenty of towels and sheets supplied and beach towels are supplied by the resort and can be changed as often as you like You can catch the sun all day on the large roof terrace which has loungers, table and chairs. The resort itself is huge and appears to have lots to do for children. There are also various adult activities during the day and entertainment at night. We did not use these facilities so could not comment on the content. The resort is very well maintained. All in all a lovely flat and very good value.
