“Little Paradise in Bel Omre”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 October 2013

It was our little paradise, especially after terrible stay in Casadani hotel (I left more details in my review about Casadani). We had Frangipanne suite, with spacious rooms, electronic safe, TV, big bathroom and excellent breakfast. The owner, Cecile, is a dynamic and nice person, who is ready to help her guests and make their vacation more comfortable. She has two more hotels and when the locals knew where I'm staying, they all said its a great place! Just nearby there is a Catholic church with services in French and Kreole. The priest is a relatively young person, who is famous all over Mahe for his extraordinary church services, a bit long, but very touching.
There are two beaches nearby and several good shops, where you can buy the stuff to eat, drink or to cook- there is a kitchnette in all the rooms. The bus stop is close too, so it is very convinient location for the tourists.

Room Tip: Pick the Frangipanne suite, if you come with family

We stayed at the Choice Villa for 2 weeks and we did not regret! The apartment has a lot of space and the villa is placed very close to the beautful beach of Beau Vallon. The owner Cecile was very kind and helpful in all matters. The villa is placed in a quite area of Beau Vallon/Bel Ombre with cleaning service everyday and breakfast on request. We also felt very safe as there is a security guard there every evening and night. His name is Paolo and he is the best - very kind, modest and helpful! He even brought us passion fruits from his own garden and picked coconuts for us from the garden of Choice Villa. We highly recommend this place as it is value for money all the way around! And we can also recommend people to have dinner at the Beach House (who has the same owner as the Choice Villa). The cooking lady, Minta, makes the most delicious creole meals!

Stayed 2 nights, and it was just what we needed, 2 kids & 1 adult

Positives
- 95 EUR a night incl breakfast, good value for Seychelles
- Good kitchen, everything thats needed is there
- Good location, on bus route, but would recommend a hire car
- Reasonable view
- Good flexible space, lounge, dining area, etc
- Safety deposit box
- Helpful staff, let me use Freezer in main kitchen after checkout
- Very reasonable (basic) breakfast

Negatives
- No wifi (seems standard in most of Seychelles)
- Don't expect 5*, this is the budget end of the market. If you want style, go to 4 seasons, 10X the cost.

Frankly speaking, I was slightly skeptical about the place after reading the recent negative review but on the merit of other good reviews and the very reasonable rates, i finally decided on Choice Villa for a 3 day stay with my husband. I must say we both absolutely loved the place and returned completely satisfied with a very warm feeling in our hearts. Cecile, the owner was very forthright in answering my emails prior to the visit. Upon meeting her I found her to be a very warm and welcoming person who was very much concerned that we have a nice and pleasant stay at Choice Villa. She also provided good help with the local map and suggested best places to eat. We stayed at Frangipanne Villa which was very spacious for the two of us and had very beautiful morning views of both Beau Vallon bay as well as the mountains at the back side. Breakfast consisted of delicious omelette by Nicole (caretaker) along with toast, fresh fruits and coffee served right on the terrace in front of our villa (understandably 99% of other guesthouses skip serving eggs for a more pricey breakfast - an omelette doesn't seem to be a very big deal but made us feel good and little more special when compared to the other place we stayed) We were also offered one complimentary welcome breakfast on arrival. The location is good with Beau Vallon beach just close by and great places to eat. The villa itself is a huge family house with 3 independent units each with own bathroom and kitchen. The villa offers a lot of privacy and is recommended for relaxation and soaking in a good view.Tried dinner one night by their cook Minta and it turned out to be absolutely amazing with a nicely done vegetable curry and barbecued fish. Portion size was huge and priced very inexpensively. In all honesty, the property could have been easily priced slightly higher given the huge space and delicious food which was far superior than others, but Cecile said she is more concerned with building reputations than running after money. Renovations were going on in other villas when we visited, however it did not disturb much particularly as we were planing to stay out most of the time. Returned completely happy and satisfied with our stay. We were offered more than our money's worth!. Few things to be aware of:
1. The owner Cecile does not stay at the premises, nor does any of the staff apart from the security guard during the night. We didn't feel it effected us in anyway since we already knew this and if needed anything remembered to bring it up in the morning itself during breakfast time.
2.It is recommended to have a car during your stay since the villa is situated on a very steep though short uphill path and most of the places of interest are far off from the property.
3. The safe in our room beeped continuously during one of the nights causing slight disturbance, however Cecile said she would take care of it right away after we brought it to her attention. Nonetheless, we found a safe in the room to be a big asset since it is not offered by all the places.
4. You should have excursions and other trips planned before you visit as not much help is available at the villa in this regard, however Cecile did mention she is planning to connect with few tour operators to afford better value/knowledge to customers.
5. You should be prepared to do your own dishes though the villa is cleaned daily and the bed is made too. The kitchen is very well furnished with all the modern equipment and cutlery.

Room Tip: Ask for the Frangipanne villa in the corner - very spacious, has best views of the Beau Vallon Bay a...

We have just return from holiday. We have visited 5 islands and we have lived at two places. After absolutely wonderful time at Buisson Guesthose on La Digue (10 nights) we decided to go to Mahe. We read many opinions and we chose Villa Choice. Unfortunately, it was a really bad choice.
What was the worst? We don't know, if it was a dirty kitchen, long distance to the nearest beach (the street without shoulder) or bad manager- Cecile. Cecile's behaviour was totaly horrible. At first she lied to us, that she will provide us transfer from the airport to the guesthouse. We agreed the price 15 euros. At the airport we spent twenty minutes after arrival waiting for Cecile but she didn't come. She even didn't make any call. When we called her and she was not suprised... She said that nobody will take us and advised us to take a taxi. The price of taxi was twice more. So we called Cecile, she tried to explain that she meant the price from the port not from the airport. When we finally arrived at Villa Choice (Cecile finally sent us a taxi which appeared after an hour) we checked our mail-box and we had a mail from Cecile that states that she will be waiting on the airport. When we met her on the next day, she didn't even try to say us "sorry". She was unkind and told that we behave bad calling her!
The next thing that happened to us was the broken safe deposit box. We put our belongings in it, but on the next day when we tried to open, it was not possible. After two hours one man came and repaired it (He told us that battery was off, that was the reason. Shouldn't she checked it before we arrived? It would be much easier and save our nerves.
We decide to chose Villa Choice because of the possibillity to have late departure (check-out at 9 p.m. with additional 25 euro). On our last day, quickly after the breakfast Nicole (very nice and polite receptionist) asked us to change the room (the smaller one but at the same builiding). We tried to do our best to be ready very soon. When Nicole came she looked embarassed. She told us that she has a problem, because in this room another people have their own safebox, so we cannot to go into this room. We have to leave our room and go to their another guesthouse - Ocean View, that was in another builiding. We have to take our luggage and change the place. We wasted a lot of time once again. Fortunately we had a car, and Nicole helped us to find the way to the Ocean View.

Our last words? We can only reccomend Villa Choice to our enemies.

Hey! Im Ruby and I went to the Seychelles in April where i spent a wonderful holiday!

So we stayed in Chateau Martha for a week. The house is fabulous. Direct view to the beach which is about 30 secs away. Actually you could probably make it down the drive in 15 or 20 if you hurried.
The service was great. Every day the ladies came and cleaned the house and you could tell them what you wanted to be done extra without getting a silly reply.
The housecooked food was brilliant. Tasted very good and compared to the rest of the restaurant in Beau Vallon it was not expensive and even tasted better.
Cecile came for a visit on the last day in which i stayed in a room in the Beach House. Which by the way is also a very nice place to stay. Cecile is a very nice lady and took good care of me/us. Arranging transport was never a problem and the driver was always very friendly.

Whilst walking through Beau Vallon I would tell that the Beach House (especially the Chateau Martha) are the nicest places to be and when I visit Mahé again I will defianately stay with Cecile! :D

Should anyone of the guests want more information on the house feel free to ask :D

Room Tip: When staying in the Chateau Martha you should take the left room. My friends complained about an old...

We have just return from a 2 week holiday at Choice Villa and it is a hidden gem! Our villa which was on the front right-hand side was enormous!! Well equipped and we were provided with fresh towels and bedding every two days, We decided to have breakfast each day which is served on the terrace by two lovely creole ladies and compared to the local hotels which are hugely expensive we only paid 85 euros per night including breakfast! There is also a cook in the evenings and an evening meal costs just 13 euros each which is a bargain compared to the local restaurants and the creole food cooked by the chef Minta who was fabulous!! Especially the fish which had been caught that morning. All the fish is filleted with no bones and such amazing flavours! Avoid the chicken dishes as these contain a huge amount of bones! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and met some wonderful staff, especially our night security watchman Paulo who gave us very helpful information about the island. We felt very safe staying here and the locals are very friendly and the beach is only a few minutes walk away and there are a couple of local shops close by to buy groceries and alcohol. The bus stop is very handy and you can regularly catch a bus into Victoria which only costs 5 rupees and you can catch another bus in Victoria and visit any of the island for just 5 rupees per journey! Much cheaper than hiring a taxi or car rental. Our only disappointment was the lack of trips available for tourists who like exploring the island apart from a boat trip from Victoria to the nearby islands. If you like fishing, diving, jet ski's, powerboats etc. then there are several kiosks on Beau Vallon beach but do not pay more than 75 euros each for the islands boat trip which includes lunch. The beach is patrolled by lifeguards and a local police officer but do be careful about leaving any valuables on the beach.

Room Tip: The front villa on the right-hand side is very spacious and well equipped
