“A Tranquil, Exclusive, Relaxing Game lodge”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 February 2013

Nedile Lodge, expertly run by Anica, Michael and David is truly an amazing experience. the Lodge is set high up on an escarpment and the views at night ensure you do not see another light, thus star gazing is an exquisite experience. The 5 rooms are superb and ensure privacy, the outside shower a 'must do' experience. The game drives were expertly operated by David during our stay and he ensured we came away with a lasting memory of being up close and personal with most of the Big Five. The food was plentiful and considering the distance from the Lodge to the closest town, very fresh and appetising. It felt a very personal experience as all of the staff made you feel that you were 'special' and that is something most Game Lodges would aspire to achieve.

Room Tip: All of the rooms (only 5) were ideally located. The Lodge is built into the rocks that form the esc...

Our weekend at Nedile lodge was fantastic. The food was great, the rooms were spacious and clean, bathroom was very modern and had large tub, indoor, and outdoor towels, amenities were all there including hairdryer, bug repellant, plenty of towels, robes, etc, and the views are spectacular!! As others have noted the lodge has a very intimate and private feel as it only accommodates 10 people maximum. The staff is fantastic, always welcoming you with smiles, and go out of their way to make you comfortable. Anica is a fantastic hostess and the fact that she truly enjoys her job comes across very clearly. Her fiancee, Michael, was our host during the game drives. He is not only knowledgable but very funny and personable. He loves the animals and is incredibly respectful of them - not like at other reserves when game drivers will make loud noises etc. to get the animal's attention. The reserve is not a zoo! We weren't afraid to tell Michael what animals we wanted to see (rhinos) and he was sure to find them. He did a fantastic job at being accommodating to all 10 of us on the ride, making sure we all had a view of the animals, etc.

We were in lodge 5, the one furthest away from the main house (2 minute walk, you need to be escorted after dark). All of the rooms have fantastic, unobstructed views, though lodges 3-5 offer more privacy if that is what you are looking for.

I will definitely be back to Nedile lodge! A perfect weekend full of tranquility and plenty of hospitality.

This is a stunning safari lodge. It sleeps max 10 people so you are assured of an intimate experience with very personal service and the team from Nedile doesn't disappoint. The views from the lodge are stunning and the decor of the place very stylish and luxurious but also with a homely feel. Food was superb and very plentiful and there were lovely touches liked home baked cookies on game drives and on your pillow at night. The game viewing surpassed my experiences at three leading Kenyan lodges and we saw all the big cats including the elusive leopard and a cheetah in full flow hunting impala. The ranger, Michael, brought all these experiences to life with a running commentary full of information and humour. Overall a faultless stay and we cannot recommend it highly enough

We had a lovely stay at the lodge which really lets you relax and enjoy the safari experience in luxury. Staff is attentive and rangers are very knowledgeable and really go the extra mile for you to see those animals and learn of the bush.
As the lodge has only five rooms, there are never more than 10 guests at a time which makes for an intimate experience where you (if you choose to) can really get to know the other guests.
We were a bit disappointed by the level of the food, which we had expected to be higher. We were told later on that this was due to the regular chef being on holiday for xmas.

Room Tip: Room #1 is closest to the main lodge which means it can be accessed without an escort at night. It a...

Nedile lodge is the best place you can stay when in welgevonden game reserve, the lodge is perfect , food was excellent, the negative thing about the game reserves is that game vehicles are not allowed to drive off-road so its just like a national park, up close to animals is limited unless animals are along the road.

make sure to check your car wheels alignments after leaving the reserve, as the gravel road is really unpleasant to drive on, ~40km

I couldn't recommend Nedile Lodge more, the whole experience was fantastic from the stunning views from your room to amazing flora and fauna which Michael is eager and passionate to show and explain to you.

The rooms are large and well equipped with amazing views over the rolling hills, the bath is large and the outdoor shower is a must even if it's a little chilly since once back inside you can sit by your fire to warm up. The main lodge is comfortable and homely, in a good way. While the selection of high end drinks at the bar is lacking everything else, especially the food, is bang on. The staff are fantastic and more than happy to help you with whatever you need.

The drives you'll go on are amazing as well, we had Michael as our ranger and he couldn't have been more passionate and ready to educate people on everything that we came across. It was truly amazing seeing the animals in their natural habit, I wasn't expecting it to be as brilliant as it was.

As per the title I'd recommend Nedile to anyone, I'm not usually one for posting online however our experience there was so good it would be remiss of me not to.

This was our first place to stay in South Africa as we began our holiday and by far the best one! Nedile has the most amazing view on the rolling hills of Welgevonden Reserve, which can be also enjoyed from your very own room and even a spa. Spacious rooms are decorated with a touch of an African art and there is a fire place if it gets chilly during the evening.

Food was simply amazing - breakfast consisted of condiments, fresh crossaints, granola with yoghurt, fresh fruit as well as a choice between full English breakfast and French toast. Lunch was usually meat & salad accompanied with freshly baked bread (so good I have requested the recipe) and followed by a cheese platter and desert. Dinner was a 3 course meal that we would get in the best restaurant in Australia.

Game drives were so exciting and we got see a lot of different animals! Our ranger was Michael, super informative and always excited about the drive, his passion for the bush made the whole experience very special for us, thank you Michael!

Last but not least is the amazing service that was provided by the Nedile staff. Everyone goes out of their way to make sure you have an enjoyable and relaxing stay. Wonderfull place, highly recommended, miss it already!
