“What an absolute amazing weekend!”
Reviewed 8 January 2013

We drove from Pretoria to Molenvliet Lodge and that was very easy, thanks to Ritas help at reservations, supplying us with a map which was emailed to us. Arriving at the West Gate, we were greeted by Simon, the Lodge Manager who made us feel welcome by being friendly, warmhearted and easy going! Arriving at the lodge we received a welcome drink and met Marcus and Morgan: we felt so special, they were absolutely wonderful, showing us around and getting us whatever we wanted. Their service and uncomplicated help was outstanding! The lodges chalets are spacious, extremely tastefully furnished and have a private porch which is great for bird watching or just having a glass of wine! The same applies to the communal areas and the pool: stunning and soo relaxing! Because the lodge has only 5 chalets you feel like being in a very exclusive and private surrounding .The food prepared by Morgan is out of this world and you will have a big problem to finish his generous portions! Our game drives were fantastic, we saw everything you could ask for ! It was an absolute pleasure to spend a weekend at Molenvliet-just too short, but we will definitely be back soon. Thanks a million to all of the staff!

Having used six different Lodges in Welgevonden in the last few years, Molenvliet was our best find. As a whole it is definitely the best of all. There are more expensive lodges which are exceptional in respect of physical luxury (eg size of rooms, on-site spas) however they do not surpass the Molenvliet experience as a whole. The staff, food, attention to detail, friendliness, facilities, value for money all contribute to the feeling that guests are valued and appreciated. Simon, the Lodge Manager, is a master of friendliness while discreetly making things happen on time and with as little inconvenience to guests who may have special needs and wants to the majority of guests. He caters to all the detail. Morgan, the chef, never falters when remembering special requests and dietary requirements - not easy when so far from suppliers of goods! But do take one size larger clothing with you - you will be eating more than average unless you resist bravely!
For those who have limited time the availability of the landing strip is a winner. We used FlyJetsteam Aviation from Wonderboom Airport which made our visit so special as it was a 30 minute journey as opposed to 4 hours!
In summary, WOW! Thanks Simon, Morgan, Marcus, Onnica, Sarah and Annetjie at the Lodge and Rita at reservations.

Room Tip: Room 5 if you want privacy. Although all rooms are private, 5 is situated furthest from the main lod...

We had our 3rd wedding anniversary here and all I can say is it was breath taking, the lodge is small and quaint and they pay attention to detail and personal needs.

Morgan is an excellent chef and Marcus will spoil you from the time you get there till you drive away. They sell a tasty house red wine as well.

Wine cellar available for that private evening or event

You won’t be disappointed

What an amazing place. Everything from the calm, serene, well laid out and welcoming main lodge to the plush and comfort of the rooms was perfect! The chef, Morgan was really great and helpful and his food was sublime! Simon, our game ranger was informative and friendly and our game drive with him tops many that I have had. The Molenvliet was the perfect cherry on top of a perfect stay!!!!!!

If you need a place to get away from it all but with all the luxuries and pampering, then Molenvliet Lodge is the place for you! My husband and I visited last weekend and thoroughly enjoyed every moment. We were treated with the wonderful Molenvliet wine and snacks, and the absolutely fantastic cuisine prepared by Morgan! Simon was also very attentive to all our needs. The Welgevonden Reserve caters for everything a nature lover desires, but most of all, for those who simply need to relax – lost of peace and quiet!

My wife and I visited Molenvliet Lodge for our first anniversary and it completely surpassed all expectations. We were lucky enough to be the only people there since we went in the middle of the week making it an experience that will soon not be expected. Everything was 5 star from the service, the food, the quality of the bomas, even the wild-life was exceptional. Since there are no cars allowed in the game-reserve (except for the lodge vehicles), the animals are use to the vehicles and therefore do not run away when approached. We got within a couple of meters of Rhinos, Elephants and even a Cheetah. Simon (manger + driver) and Marcus (cook) took care of our every need and they make you feel at home.

We'll be definitely be going back :)

The setting of the lodge is idel for anyone wanting to propose to their loved one with many choices on how to pop the question. Simon, Marcus, and the ladies really pulled off some amazing stuff for me when we recently got engaged in the bush near the lodge after a nice meal. Words could not explain the imense beauty of the lodge and the friendliness of the staff. When we arrived at the lodge Simon, the lodge manager, met us at the gate and unloaded the our vehicle before taking us into the bush en route to the lodge. We stopped and looked at some game on the way to the lodge. We then met Marcus who had made us a massive chicken salad which was delicious and tasty. He was very friendly and was well spoken. After filling our stomachs, Simon took us on a game drive where his abilities as a tracker were shown and were admired. We tracked some elephant and had a very close encounter with an animal which I do not want to mention here in fear of the animals life. It was an awesome game viewing experience.Great refreshments and snacks were offered on the game drive and we got to stretch our legs.

On return to the lodge we went to our room and noted the elegance thereof, it was perfect for the bushveld setting and was away from other rooms, thus privacy was gaurenteed. It had a wonderful patio for one to relax on and a bathroom that had a massive bath and a shower with a view of the bush. We had a great dinner which Marcus prepared. They used the time during dinner to setup the area I whished to propose in, and not long thereafter after dinner we were offered coffee. When then walked to the room and enroute stumbled upon some lanterns in a clearing at which we took a closer look. When my girlfriend saw all the lanterns and a table set up she knew what was about to happen. We got enged!!. Simon had set the lanterns up in a heart shape with rose petals to complement the form. A table with roses and champange was at the top of the heart. Shortly after popping the question and the champange, Simon offered to take photographs for us which he did very well. He was able to capture the moment.

The food at the lodge was amazing and before departing on the sunday morning we had a massive omlette and were sad to leave. The team of four,Simon, Marcus, Simon's wife and another lady ensured the lodge was enjoyable. The way the ladies did the room up with rose petals and bubble bath etc was amazing. They all worked so hard and made the stay an enjoyable one.

I can really recommend this lodge to anyone who wishes to spend some quiet time with nature and who does not want to worry about where the next meal will come from as they keep your bellies full with the freshest of foods. I was truly amazed and was sorry to leave..........Well done Simon and your team!!
