“Amazing resort. Must stay here”
Reviewed 30 August 2013 via mobile

This resort was peaceful and relaxing from the get go. We stayed here for three nights. Staff were friendly and the owners are extremely involved in ensuring every guest has an amazing experience. Rooms were large and clean. Also included mosquito netting. Specially made toiletries were in all the rooms. The shampoo and conditioner were specially made for the owners.

The food here is all inclusive and it was unbelievable. Five star quality. One of the owners is a chef, and she is constantly changing the menu. Also, if you stay there for three weeks, you'll never have the same meal. Each dinner is multiple courses with two starters, your main, and dessert. I didn't even want to time any excursions with meal time, it was that good.

The resort also offers different things like tours to prison island, scuba diving, snorkeling, etc. Another plus is that it's only 45 minutes max from stone town with traffic.

This resort is a must stay in zanzibar. Don't miss out.

From the moment you get into the shuttle that picks you up at the airport, you are in safe capable hands. When you get to the resort, the warm welcome alredy puts you at ease. While standing at the reception area, you have this beautiful view of the resort and the beach! not to mention the breeze that cools you. The rooms are spacious, with a verenda looking out onto the sea, the bar faces the beach and there are games for you to play as you pass your time. There is a massage parlour where " magic" hands work on your body. The staff are there but not hovering over you. you have this quiet, tranquil, peaceful shut out the world experience. All your meals are catered for and mind you, very delicious. While the go on the tours, you won't be sorry. Sadru and Johanne!are the best, always attentive and giving good advise.

Ngalawa Beach Village is a great place to unwind and enjoy a peaceful break away from the daily grind. Ngalawa is not your typical beach resort with loads of rooms, crowded pools and lines at the spa; it is a quaint little resort located on a serene bay with limited rooms and guests, affording visitors a personal and private experience.

Customer Service at Ngalawa is top notch. The hosts and owners, Sadru and Joanne, are always around chatting with guests and helping out around the resort. They will go out of their way to make your stay comfortable and worry free. My son needed medication during our stay and they arranged to have it brought from Stone Town (a 45-minute drive) without me having to worry about anything. The staff is always willing to assist and provide you service with a genuine smile that is absent at many big name resorts.

The food at Ngalawa is great. The chef leaves no stone unturned to provide you with a gourmet experience and will cater to your medical and/or other requirements as long as enough notice is given. The resort follows a preset menu for lunch and dinner and I would suggest talking to the chef and/or Joanne in the mornings to find out what is for lunch and dinner if you have any specific needs. Some nights feature a scrumptious buffet instead of the preset menu. Breakfast is a la carte and offers a good range of choices.

The rooms are spacious, clean and well appointed. The resort offers a decent-sized pool that features a small kids’ area, a small spa and access to the beach.

Overall, my experience at Ngalawa was nothing short of excellent and I would definitely recommend it to my family and friends. A real gem in the rapidly commercializing resort industry in Zanzibar.

I went with my 11 year old son to stay a couple of days on our way home from safari, mid July 2013
The welcome was lovely, the premises were outstanding and the food was exceptional (right up there with a michelin rated restaurant in France I go to from time to time), and the view breathtaking.

Joanne and Sadru really make this a truley awe-inspiring experience, they are the perect hosts, and we will be back as soon as we can.
Missing it from the moment we left.

You will not find a place like it anywhere, so go visit and enjoy.

Visited in early July. The overall standard was excellent. The customer service however is simply incredible. The owners take a personal interest in ensuring you have a good stay. Comfortable modern well appointed rooms, quiet beaches, outstanding food comparable with top restaurants in London. My girlfriend has complex dietary requirements (vegetarian and gluten free) which were discussed with the staff on arrival and all the meals were adapted without issue.

Stayed here in June as part of a larger group cycling round the island. Beautiful location, nice room and pool. The hosts, Joanne and Sadru, are lovely and really make you feel 'at home'. The food was fantastic with a very wide variety/choice. I would really recommend waking up early to see the beautiful sunrise from the bar area of the hotel - something never to be forgotten. All in all, a great place in every way. Can't wait to go back with the family next time!
