“Hotel and Staff Good”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 May 2013

The Mbweni Ruins Hotel and staff are good. A nice location, wide variety on the menu and a pleasant but rather small beach. The gardens have been planted with vegetation from around the world. The ruins themselves are in better shape than many of the numerous sites from around the island. Close to town and easy to access.

Do you want something different far from your home? relieving from stress and depression? Mbweni Ruins is among of the best place environmentally preserved, sorrounded by botanical gardens, old buildings (ruins), and ocean. I feel so relaxed when visiting Mbweni ruins

“Interesting”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 November 2012

Mbweni Ruins are the remains of a 19th century residential school. We had to kill some time after our return from Chumbe Island before we went to the airport, so we had fun poking around the ruins. We also had a decent lunch at the restaurant next door.

“Lovely time”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 November 2012

Really enjoyed the quiet pace at Mweni Ruins, yet close enough to Stonetown to go for dinner or an outting. Had a lovely dhow trip arranged by the hotel, would have only been improved by some wine and snacks on the dhow- bring your own, if you go out.
