We spent a week in this amazing resort.
There are not enough words to describe this place.
The rooms are big and very tastefully made.
The staff is so attentive for everything that we asked.
My wife is gluten free andvegan, so every morning during e breakfast the chef use to come out and ask her what she want for dinner and how to make it for her.
Its a very quiet area.
The hotel is sitting on the beach and on a high tide you can really be in the water.
On a low tide you can have a long walk on a sand bar in to the ocean.
This is the best place for a relaxing vacation.
Leave your kids at home and go !!!

This is generally an excellent resort. Having been to a few others in the area just to eat, this one is by far the best maintained that I found, so I was very happy that I had chosen here to stay. It is immaculate. Other good things include excellent staff who genuinely want your stay to be as good as possible and an idyllic postcard setting with the resort blending seamlessly into the white sandy beach. As has been noted, the beach does suffer from the tidal nature of the bay, but the pool is a good option when the tide is out and it is still very picturesque at any tide. On these factors alone it scores 5 stars comfortably, but unfortunately there are a few niggly issues which I will summarise:
1. 'Spa' is massage only, no sauna or steam room etc. My definition of a spa would include these facilities.
2. No fridge in the room
3. No complimentary water and expensive bottled water on site
4. Lack of vegetarian options in the restaurant

This may be nitpicking given that there are lots of nice touches that exceed expectations, such as the great welcome, but for me, it needs a couple of the above to be addressed to gain 5 stars.

Other things to note (not criticisms): there are no ATMs anywhere outside of Stone Town, so you will need to bring a reserve of cash if you intend to do things outside of the resort. Also, the power points are all European two pin, not the three pin you find elsewhere in Tanzania, so you may need an adapter.

In summary, If you want a peaceful, hassle-free holiday in beautiful surroundings this place has it more than covered. If you want the top end facilities, you will likely have to spend a lot more.

We had a very nice stay at this resort summer 2016. The staff was so helpful and serviceminded (maybe thanks to the italian chief who was there at the same time) - and the house we stayed in was extremely nice and spacey. The pool area was also very nice - clean and well furnished.
The beach - as all beaches on the eat coast of Zanzibar - had its tide, which gives the area its special look and atmosphere - but if go go a little to the right coming down to the beach from the resort - the water is clean and not stoney.
The village itself is very nice and we visited the local school opposite the resort - a great experience.
The resort is very quite - BUT the wifi is awful!!!

Room tip: You are seated at the same table every night - so choose a good one. Order a house near the pool area and coast line and the dining room.

Pros
1. Great welcome - cold towels and watermelon juice.
2. Friendly staff - particularly Jonathan.
2. Suites good value.
3. Well kept grounds.
4. Lovely beach.

Cons:
1. food often too salty (apparently Italians and Tanzanian's prefer this) - mentioned this to the waiter.
2. Lack of vegetarian options on the menu, and even as a pescetarian, too much fish/seafood can be a bad thing.
3. confusion on pricing for excursions, resolved on checkout but not quickly or easily.
4. Rediculously over priced water (4 times the price you could get from a local shop), which a resort of this type should offer free. We ended up popping to a nearby shop and stocking up. Perhaps the fact that we live in another part of Tanzania, rather than visiting from Europe/US made this more apparent.
5. Rubbish and piles of seaweed on the beach either side of the resorts section, not sure why the resort did organise some of their staff to clear up this rather than pile it up and leave it. This spoils what would have been a lovely walk along the beach either side of the resort along the bay.

Also note, there are a few taxis immediately outside the resort, which you should discuss and negotiate with directly at much more favourable TZS rate than the resort would organise for you in dollars....

Room tip: suites face the pool and some the ocean, villa faces the ocean and is more private, but a bit further away from the pool.

The experience was mostly excellent. The hotel view/location is perfect, Staff are super nice and very helpful. They are organized and always making sure you're enjoying your stay.
The one problem we had was the air-conditioning, it wasn't working the first night so we had one bad night, but technician fixed the next day.
We booked the biggest room there, it was beyond my expectations (photos on booking.com do not show how amazing & spacious the room is)

Room tip: good for relaxation, honeymooners, good dining, good view & walk on the beach
