“What fantastic service !”
Reviewed 28 July 2012

OK, the rooms aree small (but aren't they in all French hotels), the rooms are a bit tired (but hey the Chateau wasnt built yesterday), but the location, the garden and the lovely staff make up for it. Nothing is too hard. They food is excellent, the service is perfect. Outstanding value. I am looking forward to returning and so is our whole family.

Even for French food, the offering tonight at the Verbois restaurant was extraordinary. The appetizers two surprising tastes of the most unexpected combinations. Walnut with a little piece of bread with a mixture of cream cheese--but only a bite to whet the palette. Then the asparagus (blanc) with a wonderful little sauce. Then the fish came with a mixture of sauces and vegetables that were simply divine. Fromage, then dessert (mousse)--also excellent. Served by Dharma and his attendant. Excellent!

Room Tip: Did not sleep there. Only had dinner!

We loved it here and would be happy to return. Liked the peace of the grounds. A great place to feel like you are getting away from the world.

Neauphle-le-Château is the home of Grand Marnier, the famous cognac-based orange liqueur, and is a charming small town. The hotel is 200 metres down one of the roads leading out of town, slightly set back and with a striking terrasse for aperitifs or dinner in the summer. It is a very handsome and elegant building.
We had one of the cheaper rooms, which was in a separate gatehouse, but although it was next to the road, this was not apparent since the soundproofing was good and there was a lounge between the bedroom and the outside wall.
Dinner was either a no-option affair or there was a pricier gourmet menu, but it was not cheap. The wine list was extensive but also not cheap. A very generous Grand Marnier was 10 Euros but it would have been bizarre not to enjoy one while we were there.
Good breakfast.

It is the third time we are organizing celebrations ! 2 christenings of my two daugthers and last weekend we celebrated my mother's 70th birthday !
Family from abroad stayed in hotel, private salons for lunch and diner. The food is exquisite and at very reasonable price. Service is friendly, kind and flexible !
You feel like organizing a reception or lunch in your own house...
I will continue support and visit them and wish all success to this 'beautiful demeure'

A lovely little gem of a hotel, set in the pristine village of Neuphle le Chateau. Visit the village - it's retained it's old world charm with a village square, old houses, no modernizations, really. The boulangerie has the best pain au chocolat I had in France!

The hotel is a beautiful little chateau which has a fine terrace for dining on. The menu, food, and service was superb. As good as anything I ate in Paris, really.

I agree with the former reviewer who said this is a lovely place to stay after visiting Versailles. The hotel owner told me that many weddings are held here, too. I can see why!

My husband and I have just returned from a visit to the Chateau of Versailles. After having read mixed reviews of hotels in the town, we decided to stay at the Domaine du Verbois in Neauphle-le-Chateau about 10km from Versailles by car. The place is well-signposted and easy to find. It is a typical small French chateau with pink-washed walls, converted into a hotel in the 1980's. It is set in a large garden with wonderful views over the woods and fields of the Neauphle Plain. A large terrace takes advantage of these views, and this is where dinner is served.

We were made very welcome on arrival. We found the staff to be very pleasant and to speak good English. Our room overlooked the terrace and the views at the back of the building. It was perfectly comfortable but quite small, and either rather dated or charmingly old-fashioned, depending on your point of view! But the bathroom was large with it's own window, was well-equipped and had a good strong shower. Everything was fresh and clean. Best of all, there was a bottle of champagne on ice waiting for us, courtesy of the management! Dinner on the terrace was 4 courses including cheese and was very good. The menu was small but perfectly formed from local produce.

We are very glad that we stayed here! After a hard day slogging around Versailles with the heat and the crowds it was EXACTLY what we needed. A haven of peace, quiet and comfort. I would certainly recommend it to anyone who is travelling by car and is looking for the same things. We thought it was excellent value for money too.
