We spent a night here at the start of a walk in the Dordogne. Location on the edge of the river and the old town is wonderful. Friendly staff. Also they are serious about their cuisine. Recommend unreservedly

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the river

We arrived here in torrential rain - just an awful day but this little hotel nestling next to the Dordogne is a gem. Nice rooms - very helpful staff - a well-stocked bar and best of all a really excellent restaurant. Travelling with a vegetarian companion as I do can be difficult in France but here it was no problem a plate of vegetables appeared with a flourish and so tastefully done it was just magic. Highly recommended for both meat eaters and veggies! And good value.

Returning to this beautifully located hotel again this year (our seventh visit) we were not disappointed. The staff are welcoming, our room was comfortable (good big bed) and the food excellent. The restaurant is well laid out and partly outside so you can choose with the weather. There is a good terrace above for the use of guests which overlooks the square, chapel and river. We stayed 7 nights so had one night (Monday) when the restaurant was closed which gave us the opportunity to eat at the equally good Les Charmilles. Beaulieu is a lovely little town, the magnificent doorway at the abbey church is worth the trip in itself and the narrow back streets great to wander through (with excellent floodlighting at night). We will be back at Les Flots Bleus next year I am sure.

Room Tip: We choose Adele at the rear of the hotel . This does not have a view onto the river, etc, but the e...

We arrived late but where impressed by the couple of owners advising us about their availability hours for check-in through the booking agent (booking.com). As their own restaurant was closed that evening they recommended us another place in the village and made the reservation for us. Breakfast was the regular continental breakfast in a clean and pleasant setting. The only minor complaint we had was that in their hurry to "exploit" their day-off they left the hotel before giving us the wi-fi password. Friendly service.

Room Tip: rooms on the river-side are probably better than those on the street side.

What a wonderful hotel this is. The location is perfect, with a patio that opens onto the river. It is peaceful, gorgeous, as good as it gets. The rooms here are lovely, the proprietors gracious, warm, and helpful, and the restaurant wonderful. In my experience, you cannot do better than Les Flots Bleus. I'd return to the Dordogne region just to stay here.

Chose this restaurant to celebrate a lot of years of marriage and couldn't have been better. We chose to blow out on the Menu Gastronomique, including the restaurant's choice of wine with each course and it was splendid. So good, we went back for a light(ish) supper in the evening which was equally good. Staff and owners very friendly, and welcoming, hotel room overlooked the river and was very comfortable. All in all a most enjoyable experience.

Room Tip: Overlooking the river is worth the small supplement

It was a terrible day weather wise raining very heavily but the day brightened up for us as we discovered this lovely restaurant in a wonderful setting on the banks of the river.

We were given a very warm and friendly welcome and shown to our table. We chose the 32 euro menu, 4 courses although there were other options available. We were not disappointed, choice of 3 starters, 4 mains, 3 cheese and three desserts. The table settings, cutlery and crockery were top class together with the pleasant and friendly service. The food was of a very high standard and probably the best so far this holiday.

We loved it so much we have booked again for this weekend, we asked for a table outside on the terrace in case we get luckier with the weather.

Well done Tres bon - merci
