A must on this beautiful part of the Normandy coast. This guest house manages successfully a very delicate balance between the atmosphere of a family home and rooms of the highest standard among guest houses. Every detail is beautifully planned, food is of excellent quality with fresh local products, and Gilles, the host, is delightful. As suitable for family reunions as for couples in search of a romantic place. Worth every penny! I bet the waiting list to book a room will soon be very long!

If you are looking for the perfect place to stay you cannot miss this beautiful and elegant guest house just a few minutes from the beach. The rooms are luxurious and very comfortable (top quality bedding). The house is decorated with excellent taste. The common spaces with open fire places, sofas and antique family furniture are relaxing and inspiring ! The house offers also a small movie theatre, a games room, sauna and a jacuzzi (the last two still in construction). Gilles is an excellent cook and delightful host. I can't wait to organize my next stay there!

My husband and I escaped for a week-end and tried this lovely chambre d'hôte in Etretat in the middle of November. The house has just been renovated. It is perfectly located, not far from the beach, but not exposed to the gusts of wind. Inside there are large common spaces with open fireplaces, armchairs, sofas, magazines to read. All decorated with excellent taste. Comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. The rooms are lovely, excellent bedding, subtle colours, family antique furniture, impeccable bathrooms.
Gilles makes a perfect host and cooks the most lovely dinners. Breakfast is delicious, all fresh and tasty (particularly Gille's caramel, which is the best I ever tasted).
A truly great place to stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with balcony overlooking the back

We are thrilled to have discovered this wonderful house, which is beyond perfect for get-togethers.

We managed to book all 5 rooms for a weekend reunion with university friends – we were 10 adults and 5 children. The rooms on the ground floor are what really made our stay with lots of places in which we could relax and talk. These included a mahogany panelled library, a sitting room with a huge fire place, deep sofas and a piano (we were invited to play!), a dining room with a large table which easily seats 12 people, and an open kitchen. All the ground floor rooms open onto the terrace and garden and are beautifully furnished with antiques and unique finds – for example, the Victorian pressed ceiling in the kitchen is from a Cape Town cinema. The floor below has a large wine cellar (where guests may also keep wine). Under construction is a cinema with tiered seating, a sauna and hot tub and a games room.

The food was exquisite throughout our stay. Breakfasts included warm croissant and home-made jams and the house signature eggs benedict. Gilles is the resident cook who also offers evening meals on request. For our Saturday night celebration Gilles cooked a mouth-wateringly delicious slow-cooked lamb, followed by locally sourced cheeses and a show-stopping ‘Vacherin’, a French dessert which is a tower of meringue, ice-cream and fruit. Do not miss the goat’s milk chocolates from the nearby cliff top goat farm. The farm is a half hour walk away and well worth a visit (and shopping trip!). This elegant and carefully restored 18th century house is a unique gem which sets a new standard for luxury boutique hotels. We cannot recommend it highly enough.

We stayed here in August at the end of a week touring in northern France. The front of the building was quite modest so you wouldn't guess at the luxury or size of the accommodation within. We had a massive double room which was both luxurious and comfortable. As we had left the kids behind, we were determined to enjoy the best food and wine that France has to offer and we were not disappointed here. The evening meal was perfectly executed and delicious. We had a continental breakfast and the ingredients were all excellent. You can sit out on the terrace and enjoy the lovely gardens. Unfortunately the jacuzzi and spa were not finished when we were there but I imagine they would be lovely, especially in winter. As it was summer we went for a very long walk over the cliffs and imagined recreating Monet's pictures. We were touring in a sports car so parking was very important for us, conveniently we were able to park our car in a safe location at the back of the gardens. I loved the country house feel of this hidden gem and Gilles is a charming host.

Beautiful hotel in the center of Etretat with easy access to the beach and the golf course. What sets this hotel apart is the immaculate restoration of a beautiful manor from 1738. The host Gilles will make you feel very welcome.

A tastefully decorated and furnished, elegant guest house moments from the beach.

Les Tilleuls is full of hidden delights. Spacious rooms and high ceilings provide ample comfort and a good nights sleep on the generous beds is guaranteed as is a highly satisfying shower.

Gilles, the most charming and delightful host you're ever likely to meet provides excellent food on request. In the Summer months eating out on the terrace in the peaceful garden is a real treat.

Every effort has been made to ensure an enjoyable stay. There are Pashley bicycles, a games room, spa, sauna, library and believe it or not Les Tillieuls Cinema in the basement- nice touch.

It was really hard to leave but we're all excited about returning. THE place to stay in Etretat.
