Roka was recommended to us by the manager of our villa. We were told that the restaurant doesn't have a great view, but it has great food. The view was not bad. It wasn't like places in the center of Oia, but it also wasn't like a restaurant in my local strip center. The food and service were both excellent. We were told to make sure and have the fava dip on Santorini. We tried it at another place at lunch time. The fava from Roka was MUCH better! Overall, it was a great meal!

“Hidden and local”
Reviewed 1 August 2014

Roka is off the beaten path in Ioa and well worth the adventure. You walk along narrows streets amongst old houses, some of which haven't been repaired since the last big earthquake. There are signs here and there pointing you in the right direction, but you can also ask anyone. All the Greeks know where Roka is.

The food was the best, most authentic we had on Santorini. It's like my grandmother used to cook. Simple, flavorful, traditional dishes along with some new, interesting versions.
The restaurant itself is built inside an old house. There's a front and back patio and several rooms inside. If it's a nice night, sit outside on one of the patios. This isn't a fancy place, but the food sure tastes like it. It's not dumbed down for tourists. Greeks actually eat here although everyone is welcome since the staff speak English as well.

Santorini has become so touristy with it's cruise ships and direct flights from London and Beijing, that the restaurants on the main strip feel generic. Come to Roka for a welcome reprieve.

Oia can certainly be a bit crowded in the evening but Roka will make you feel like you are on a quiet little island far away from people. The roasted eggplant with feta was wonderful. Service was terrific and the place could not be a more idillic setting. Very reasonable pricing!!!!

“Wonderful food in a relaxed setting”
Reviewed 28 July 2014

We went to Roka after sunset and did not have a reservation. We had to sit inside but the setting was simple and cute. We started with the spicy feta dip (amazing!) and greek sausage. Both starters were fantastic. We then had the ravioli and greek meatballs which were some of the best dishes we have had so far in Oia. This was a lovely restaurant, off the beaten tourist track and we hope to go back before we leave Santorini.
