We decided to try as many different restaurants as we could this trip to see who made the best tomato balls. We managed seven and unanimously voted thalami as the winner!
We also tried the zucchini fritters but they were not that good. The tomato balls were full of herbs and chunks of tomato and were nice and crispy, a few more seconds in the pan and they would have been perfect. One thing to note a portion here cost 5 euros the same at Floga a few yards away cost 9. On our next trip we will visit for a full evening meal.

We've eaten in a number of restaurants in Oia but this is our favorite. It's very popular with the locals (that should tell you something) and has been run by the same family for more than half a century. The food is excellent and the menu is great (I noticed one reviewer who suggested they didn't offer "a full dining experience"--I have no idea what he's talking about unless he expected a six course dinner with matching wines?). Fish and traditional Greek entrees and appetizers are great as are the deserts. Some of the dishes are based on family receipes that have been used for years. Service is professional but low-key and friendly. The location, in the middle of Oia and on the lip of the caldera, is great and they offer indoor seating or outdoor seating with umbrellas. The price of meals at Thalami is surprisingly low, given that it's in Oia but the quality of food and service is unmatched.

We went here after watching the sunset one night. We arrived about 8.45/9pm and got one of the last tables. If you want a table right at the front with a view, it's probably worth booking or getting there earlier.

Good menu with plenty of Greek classics. Service was attentive, and my nut allergy was dealt with well (they were, if anything, too cautious, but it was great to see it taken seriously).

House wine was excellent value- get the carafes rather than paying extra for a bottle of your own.
