Our hotel helped us to book Katina's after our sunset cruise, and even arranged a special table for us as we were honeymooners. The owner confirmed it was all organised. We turned up a little early and said who we were but I rapidly concluded that they hadn't listened - they left us sitting by the kitchen without a drink for 20 minutes while they found a 'good table' but then tried to put us in the corner by the storeroom! When we declined and firmly asked for our proper table, we heard the waiter mutter (in English) "who cares, the food is the same!"

Then we saw another couple waltz in and get the prime table that we had assumed was being prepared for us! We were eventually seated in an ok spot and then struggled to be served for another 20 minutes. At one point, a waiter came to take our order and before we could utter one word, he gestured 'one moment' and bustled off, we presumed to get a pad/pen or something, only to see him in the corner having a fag break!!! He never came back, and it was another full 5 minutes before we could flag someone else.

We were given the chance to pick our lobster, but were pretty much forced to have a female one which definitely wasn't as tasty as we'd normally expect from a lobster. I suspect they were trying to get rid of it.

Overall I felt we were treated with borderline rudeness and I simply couldn't understand why. Perhaps we could have made it clearer that we were the couple who'd booked the special honeymoon table but we shouldn't have had to just to get better service!

Such a shame, we had been looking forward to a romantic authentic fish dinner, but left with a sour taste in our mouths.

Great location away from all the touristy restaurants of Oia but the food is not so great. The good part is that you pick your own fish. However, the fish was unseasoned and dry. The service was pretty slow too. Given the high prices you would definitely expect the food and the service to be much better.

We were recommended this taverna by two people and made the steep walk down to Ammoudi bay. Not only is this a stunning location but the staff were so friendly and professional. We were staying at Perissa and ate her once at the end of a day tour and once at lunchtime on a return trip. On both occasions we had the most amazing food, the second time choosing lobster and shrimps. Everything is weighed out for you and priced so you know how much money and what size of fish you are eating. I expected to pay a vast premium for the location but compared to London prices this meal was half of our fish treat in Soho. We ended on a complimentary baklava and dessert wine. We walked the road way back up to Oia the second time, (get a taxi or do as we did on our first visit ride a donkey back up the steep hill!)

Located at the base of the very steep steps down from Oia is Amoudi Bay, where there is a small boat anchorage and a cluster of Restaurants. We watched the sunset with the millions and then quickly scurried down the steps, past the donkeys for our booking at Taverna Katina. The restaurant had which had been recommended by our hotel and was everything that we thought a Greek Taverna by the sea should be, not fine dining, but a vibrant, fun eclectic restaurant with fresh food and no fuss.

Happily we had left the hoards of tourists behind looking for a spot to dine atop the cliff and joined the almost full Katina with its quaint orange chairs and a view of the boats. Tables as set up literally next to the water and also undercover further back. If it's windy sit further back where it's sheltered. We were a party of five and the booking was essential.

We ate all of the usual Greek seafood dishes which we love and left happily after wine and beer to wash it all down, very satisfied and incredibly impressed by the speed and care the waiters took. Make sure you have a friendly joke with them and it will be paid back in spades.

I read a few of the reviews of this restaurant before committing to text and there were a few mixed ones and I think that it's all about what your chasing in a meal. This restaurant is not a fine dining experience, it's a fisherman's dinner by the sea, a cantina, a Taverna. It's good food delivered quickly, piping hot and by enthusiastic, "run off there feet at times" waiters. I'd go back in an instant.

Visited here with friends who had been on a previous visit. It's a lovely spot, away from the madness up the hill! We had fish soup to share - a huge 1.5kg white grouper, half of which was cooked in a soup, half cooked on the grill. With a couple of starters, this was more than enough for 3 of us. The staff are lovely - very chatty, very attentive and very happy. Gets a bit chilly and windy after sunset, so dress accordingly!
