Right on the water at the foot of Oia, Katani offers the freshest seafood you care to choose after a tour of the kitchen. I had three red mullet, that were small, tender, and delicious. Service was friendly and helpful. The view was unbeatable.

“Another gem in Santorini”
Reviewed 7 July 2014

We visited Ammoudi beach with their spectacular views over Oia, enjoyed the swimm and then we visited Katina fish tavern as we were recommended.
Our table was next to the sea where the small marina is. We enjoyed the local specialities and again we had fresh fish for main course. Excellent service dispite the fact that it was busy.
Lovely Greek salad the Santorinian way and fish cooked on the charcoal. They also offered lobster & octapuss. Pleasant experience and very cheap foir what we got.
Best time to go is before the sunset.

“Sorry, but very disappointing.”
Reviewed 7 July 2014

Our hotel helped us to book Katina's after our sunset cruise, and even arranged a special table for us as we were honeymooners. The owner confirmed it was all organised. We turned up a little early and said who we were but I rapidly concluded that they hadn't listened - they left us sitting by the kitchen without a drink for 20 minutes while they found a 'good table' but then tried to put us in the corner by the storeroom! When we declined and firmly asked for our proper table, we heard the waiter mutter (in English) "who cares, the food is the same!"

Then we saw another couple waltz in and get the prime table that we had assumed was being prepared for us! We were eventually seated in an ok spot and then struggled to be served for another 20 minutes. At one point, a waiter came to take our order and before we could utter one word, he gestured 'one moment' and bustled off, we presumed to get a pad/pen or something, only to see him in the corner having a fag break!!! He never came back, and it was another full 5 minutes before we could flag someone else.

We were given the chance to pick our lobster, but were pretty much forced to have a female one which definitely wasn't as tasty as we'd normally expect from a lobster. I suspect they were trying to get rid of it.

Overall I felt we were treated with borderline rudeness and I simply couldn't understand why. Perhaps we could have made it clearer that we were the couple who'd booked the special honeymoon table but we shouldn't have had to just to get better service!

Such a shame, we had been looking forward to a romantic authentic fish dinner, but left with a sour taste in our mouths.
