BEAUTIFUL VIEW, ROOMS NOTHING LIKE PHOTOS and BED BUGS!!
Arriving at the Canaves Oia I was expecting the beautiful Honeymoon 'cave like' suite with 'outdoor river like jacuzzi' as advertised in their photos. To be honest after we were shown the room in the Suites which looked NOTHING like the photo of the room we had booked we were a bit bummed, but honestly the view was breathtaking and if you stood at the right angle through the bathroom you could see where they would have got the shot where the woman looks like she is sitting on a cliff side taking in the amazing view from her 'private' jacuzzi. The area for breakfast around the pool is truly beautiful and breakfast was not bad. Ok here is the clincher. Stayed one night finding blood spots on our pillows the next morning, during the middle of the next night woke up to rows and rows of bed bugs all through the upholstered bed head and on the sheets. By this time I was absolutely mauled, I mean all over my body including my face and eyelids! Rang the concierge who changed rooms for us at 4am, then met with the owners son Marcus the next day. I feel bad writing this review because Marcus was lovely and apologetic, but I just feel like people should know what they are paying for. We received a night free and a free trip on their sunset catamaran cruise, which was nice. Upon being taken to another room my husband was paranoid so straight away searched through the upholstered bed head only to find another bed bug crawling in the gaps. I was so tired and itchy with no sleep so we pulled out the fold out couch ( which was sooo dirty with marks ) and decided to just deal with our loss and leave the next day. It is one month later and I am still scarred head to toe with marks. We stayed in other accom for a third of the price in Firestephani and realised Oia is beautiful for photos but a total rip off. At almost $1000 Australian dollars a night we got an ok view, ok service and an old room with the hardest bed we have ever slept on complete with a family of bed bugs. I must note after checking the pillow slips that were 'cleaned' in the next room we were taken to, they had old blood stains on them. This and the fact we could see the bugs tells us it is an old problem they have had for a while.
