Wow, Wow, Wow! Canaves Oia is absolutely spectacular. Starting with the location high up on the cliffs overlooking the calderon of Santorini. The view is from the room was breathtaking! Our room was just above the pool area with our own individual spa tub/pool that was partially in our room and continued outside--very cool! Service from start to finish was top rate and wonderful. You cannot go wrong staying here. The price is a little steep but if you are going to spend on a trip, do it here- you will NOT regret it. If I could give ten stars I would.

Room Tip: Try to upgrade to one of the rooms with a spa/pool that is partially in the room and runs outside its worth it.

We stayed at this beautiful hotel for 4 nights and we are now making plans to stay there again in 2015. We arrived from Athens very early in the morning and was deposited on the top of the mountain by the taxi driver to what we believed to be the front entrance only to find out that, the entrance on that side was closed. The cab driver speed away leaving us with a lot of luggage and stranded on the top of the hill early in the morning tired and very frustrated. A hotel van passed us and picked us up and deposited us at the entrance that was further down the road, needless to say that I expressed utter frustration at the front desk to Panos, who was extremely patient with me. We were then escorted to the pool area to await our room prep and have breakfast. Everything changed from breakfast in that we were catered to by Mario, Jenny , Vasili, and Marcus who kept coming to us to ensure that we okay. We we eventually shown to our rooms ....let me tell you what these dear people did they had upgraded us to the most beautiful rooms that I have seen in a very long time equipped with it's own private hot tubs!!!! I am from the Bahamas and I must say that the hospitality that was extended to us during our stay here far exceeded our expectations ( we have high expectations coming from a resort destination). Also, the food is excellent well prepared and extremely delicious, I suggest room service. The website can't show you how breathtaking this hotel is and even if it wasn't I would return here just for the high level of service that the staff exhibits. Mr Marcus Chaidemenos, ( Managing Director) my family and I salute you for the incredible kindness and awesome service you have afforded us on my first European vacation and I looking forward to seeing all of you again. I hope that this review helps others in making a right decision to choose your hotel .. I guarantee they will not regret it!!!! Valencia Glinton, Bahamas!!!!!

Room Tip: Private hot tubs outside your window.

The Canaves Oia hotel is a gorgeous hotel with amazing views of the Caldera. The hotel Suite room #1 that we were given for our family of four, was huge and very comfortable. Rooms were big and the views from the windows and open front door were magnificent. The pool area was beautiful and the staff by the pool were very friendly and always willing to help. The housekeeping staff were always there to ensure that the property was spotless. They were there twice a day to clean our rooms and place fresh towels. I loved the big white pots with the lovely shades of pink bougainvillea against the white backdrop all over the property. Although Oia is famous for its sunsets, there are no direct views of the sunset from the hotel, but the colors in the sky around dusk are just magnificent.

The two sister properties of this hotel- Canaves Oia and Canaves Suites is separated by another hotel and we had to walk on a very busy one-lane street to get to the other property or to get to the main street in Oia. So, need to be careful.

Barbara and the other girls at the front desk were very helpful and always smiling. They arranged our airport transfer as well as sent us emails prior to our arrival regarding activities and restaurants. The reception desk at the Canaves Oia closes at 11 pm, (only the one at Canaves Suites remain open the entire night). So if you are planning to arrive after 11 pm, make sure that you go to the Canaves Suites reception desk to retrieve your room keys. Otherwise, you need to walk back and forth on the dark street.

Overall, a wonderful experience!

Room Tip: Rooms in the Canaves Suites are closer to the entrance to the main street.

We only stayed at Canaves Oia for two nights but next time it will be for longer. This is a stunning hotel just at the start of the entrance to the main street in Oia. Everything about this place is beautiful.

From the welcome you receive from the reception (Barbara was so kind and helpful) to the service at breakfast and restaurant, it is a great experience.

Rooms. We had a 2 bedroom suite with jacuzzi. The view from the room is clear and stunning being that the hotel is as high as possible in Oia. Inside the rooms are spacious, bathrooms modern and there are beautiful shutters on the windows so you can choose your amount of light and view. Walking from the bathroom to our dressing room felt like a hike the place was so big!

The only consideration with the rooms is that the outside area and jacuzzi is very public to other hotel guests, especially if you are on a lower level. Higher levels will look over your area and there are paths directly in front of your jacuzzi - but it did not concern us too much.

This is an amazing place to stay in Oia.

Room Tip: All the rooms are great. If they have one higher up near the pool, then this would be idea but otherwise what ever you are allocated will be great.

People often give 5 star reviews because they had a good time, but the 5 star review should be used ONLY when something goes above and beyond anything you expected. Folks, this is that place. I can't say enough...so I won't. The views are breathtaking. But they're breathtaking essentially all over Santorini, so what's so special about this place. The view from the pool is what is so special. The cleanliness of every inch of the property. The perpetual smile of the staff. The food. The perfect water temperature. The windows in the rooms and how the open up in the same way your eyes do when you realize that you are not in fact dreaming and those colors actually exist in real life. This is something to experience before you die. This is a bucket list type of place. We had an extra night in town and because of availability, had to stay at another great property. That property is what you should leave a 4 star rating for, because everything was really good. THIS property, is exactly the type of property you leave a 5 star review for. Money isn't everything; not even close. But if you have to save 6 months just to get yourself here, I can guarantee it will be worth every last penny.

Room Tip: Do less and take in more.
