Stayed at Canaves for 4 magical nights. Me and my wife are frequent travellers and this hotel is by far the best boutique hotel we have ever visited. The breathtaking view, the white buildings hanging from the cliffs and the turqoise waters made the perfect romantic setting. But what really was the highlight of the trip was the hotel. Staff was super, fullfiling all our wishes. Thank you Ioanna, Dessy and Natalia for the most memorable romantic getaway.
I would definetely suggest Canaves Oia to anybody who wants to visit Oia. Try also the catamaran sailboat around the island the view from the centre of the bay is awesome.

Beautiful rooms, beautiful view, great location. excellent staff. Manager Thanassis and his team were helpful at every turn - from initial queries about bookings, changes of dates, and extension of stay, bookings of excursions and rearrangement of transfers when our evening ferry departure to Crete was delayed. It was a pleasure to deal with all the people here.
We stayed in the Canaves Hotel section( not the Canaves Suites) where yes, as other reviewers have commented, the pool is small, but we weren't there for that. We had a comfortable, beautiful, spacious room, with two bathrooms and small kitchen: however there were no utensils or cookware provided. Not that we wanted to cook, but occasionally we just broght back a sandwich or a snack for lunch and it would have been good to have a couple of plates and some cutlery even to cut the fresh fruit so thoughfully provided on arrival. And I would have loved to have the facilities for making tea and coffee in the room, although in 5 weeks in Greece we only came across 1 place where this was privided. The pool bar did not have dedicated staff which meant that sometimes we had to wait for someone to turn up - maybe a bell/call up facility would help here.
Canaves Oia is only a few minutes walk to a large number of restaurants, and to the sights and shops of Oia. Close enough for a gentle stroll, far enough away to be beautifully quiet - perfect location. And absolutely stunning views. We would have no hesitation in staying here again - in fact I am sure we will.

We stayed here on our honeymoon in July 2009 and I've been meaning to write a review ever since.

We really enjoyed our stay here mainly because of the amazing view. The view from our room was spectacular and breakfast served on our balcony was great although the breakfast itself was not really up to the standards we expected (small and not served on time) but, with one look at the view made us forget that. The room could have been a bit more modern but, I guess that was the charm of the hotel. The location was perfect but we would have appreciated a bigger pool/pool area... it was a bit overpriced for what it was and I think we were a bit too young for the atmosphere at the hotel... this place is better suited for older couples. I think if they didn't have that view they couldn't get away with some of the things they do.

great location, small pool - good if not more than 6 people on the terrace. Some rooms do not have any sort of privacy as the terrace is walked past by guests to exit or go to the pool area. Website shows suites and the Canaves Hotel, not the Canaves Rooms Hotel which is across the road at the back of a car park area. I had unwittingly booked this as the price was also high (I have stayed in Oia twice previously at other hotels). This was a block of small suites all closed up and looked more like the area that staff would stay in. I had to cause quite a fuss to be moved to the hotel across the road with a Caldera view, and was prepared to pay the extra. Had to insist the manager phoned the travel agent and then negotiate as he suddenly didnt seem to have a room available. We did move to the Hotel and despite all this we had a fantastic time but would stay elsewhere next time. Pool / Bar terrace staff v friendly and helpful.

Dear Traveller,

Thank you for your comment.

However your initial reservation was not for Canaves Oia Hotel but for another 3 star property of the same ownership offering accommodation only. This is the property you are referring to.

All rooms and suites of Canaves Oia Hotel have direct view to the caldera and the Aegean sea. We are happy to hear that after you moved to Canaves Oia Hotel your stay was pleasant.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this misunderstanding.

We had a lovely stay, the staff are excellent the breakfast is plentiful, the views are amazing, the property and rooms are very clean. To sit on your balcony at night and to watch the boats and look over the caldera is something we will never forget. The staff arranged a sunset cruise on a 42 foot catamaran which everyone should do.Just a tip to Some of you Americans not everyone at the pool wants to here your life story and your winy voice we struck this a lot in Europe luckily most of you yanks are lovely people if its bigger and better in the states why leave it ?.

We stayed at the hotel for a week. The location is right at the edge of the pedestrian walkway at the village of Oia, which means the entrance of the hotel is quiet and convenient. All of the rooms have a view of the Aegean sea, which is a must when staying at Santorini. The best part of the stay is waking up every morning, walking out to the balcony and watching the beauty of the sea and the volcanic mountains unveil before your eyes.

We stayed in the junior suite (of the newer section), which had a bedroom, bathroom, a living area and a small kitchen (sink & refrigerator). The television and the DVD player (upon request) were in the bedroom. We found the size of the room on the small side, especially the bathroom. If you're over 175cm tall, you won't be able to stand up in the tub and take a shower. The bed was not very comfortable I'm sorry to say. We were happy to be in our own bed when we came back. Free WIFI Internet everywhere.

The pool area is definitely another highlight of the hotel. We found it to be the perfect area to relax and jump in the pool when it got too hot.

Our least favorite part was the breakfast, we found the offering to be quite plain: fruits, juices, croissants, bread, yogurt, dried fruits, cold cuts, etc. And you can order eggs. We definitely were not crazy about it and at the end of the week, we did not look forward to it anymore.

We took a quick stroll through the older section of the hotel (Canaves I) and were very happy that we were staying in the newer part. The view just could not compare to what we have on our side. So even if it is less costly to stay on the older section, ultimately the quality of your holiday will be compromised and is not worth it.

Though we enjoyed our stay here, I think we will try another property next time. Santorini is paradise on earth and it's definitely worth a visit.

Lastly, there are fantastic restaurants in Oia: 1800, Nectar & Ambrosia were our favorites.

This is a very warm hotel in an absolutely stunning location! The hotel is run very well and the staff were incredibly nice. We spent two nights here, and really enjoying the location right in Oia which is a beautiful and quiet town in Santorini, great for couples. There are plenty of restaurants nearby which you can easily walk to in minutes. The pool area is fantastic and very relaxing area to spend the day reading and swimming (decent size pool for greek islands). We also had lunch at the restaurant by the pool and had some great salads. I liked that they had several shaded areas to sit and the loungers were very comfortable. We went on a semi-private catamaran 1/2 sunset cruise organized through the hotel which I would highly recommend, we swam over two volcanic hot springs and then had wine & snacks and watch the amazing sunset from the sea (which was the highlight of our trip). After the boat trip we had dinner in the port below Oia at Sunset (a outside seafood restaurant), the view and food were both great.

Our suite (which we basically little time time) was beautiful, marble floors nice outside area. The layout was a little strange though, small bedroom which was very far from the air conditioner (which was an external unit in the living room) and the shower was very small. I'm not a light or picky sleeper, but found the mattress uncomfortable and the sheets could be upgraded. But the slight negatives of the room didn't really matter to us since we spent so little time there and the hotel was so romantic and peaceful and I really enjoyed being in Oia.
