Just for some context…My wife and I were in desperate need of some R+R. So unlike past holidays we basically stayed in one place for an extended period. Additionally, we prefer boutique style hotels in great locations with near perfect warm service (Amankila, Tented Camp, Jao, etc.). Finally, this was our first trip to Greece but we have a number of reference points throughout greater Europe and Northern Africa (Capri Palace, Helvetia & Bristol, Dar Ahlam, Le Saint-Paul, etc.).
Katikies combines some of the best attributes of world class properties and may be located in the most beautiful location I have ever experienced. From the moment Demitri collects you at the airport with a warm smile and educated tour of the island you will realize that this will be a great trip. Alexander (Hotel Manager) has created a vibe that rival’s St. Barth’s and service that exceeds anything you would expect on a European island. Nikos (a hulking but very friendly porter) will deliver your bags to your room after travelling across a high risk maze of steps…it may sound silly but you will appreciate this once you see it first-hand. The entire staff was warm, professional and did any amazing job anticipating your needs (nobody sits around…they are always doing something to better the experience…in an unobtrusive manner). I need to call out a few special people that I recommend that you seek out when you arrive…Julian (head waiter of the “Katikies Dining Experience” and probably the most photographed person on our trip…by my wife), Demitri (room service and pool steward…extremely interesting and friendly) and Katrina (room service attendant and pool steward…flawless room service execution with a warm personality).
The food…we ate breakfast everyday on our patio (~11:00am), lunch on our patio (~3:30pm) and finally left the property for dinner after sunset. Katikies is that kind of place! You will not want to leave. Please check out the “Katikies Dinning Experience” at least once (we had it twice in 5 nights).

Room Tip: Room 35 was very good and room 25 is perfect!

The hotel has a beautiful location on the caldera. The highlight of our stay was breakfast on our private terrace each morning. On the day we checked out, the cave pool and the terrace with sun loungers was closed all day due to a wedding at 6:00PM. The other swimming pool area was crowded and there was no breeze. There was no reason to close the best area of the hotel all day for a 6:00PM wedding. It can be difficult to get a sun lounger at the infinity pool even when both pool areas are open. We were upgraded to a superior suite for one night. My husband, who is 6 feet, could not stand up straight in the shower without hitting his head, nor could he get out of bed and stand up without hitting his head. It was uncomfortably hot at night due to the fact that the A/C unit was too small for the suite. We were moved to a junior suite the next night which was much more comfortable and the A/C worked much better. There were no places where my husband had to worry about hitting his head. The hotel is truly beautiful and the rooms were very clean. As with all hotels on the caldera, there are many steps so if you have any mobility issues, you should not stay here. The drinks are very expensive (14 euros). If you decide to stay here, be sure a wedding is not scheduled and parts of the hotel are unavailable.

My husband and I ended our trip to Croatia and Mykonos at Katikies Hotel in Oia . What a perfect ending !! We stayed 3 nights..perfect! Location..perfect...right at the beginning of the charming village...wonderful restaurants and shops..but hardly wanted to leave the beautiful pool area with one of the most beautiful views in the world. Enjoyed a delicious lunch there every day gazing at thet Caldera.Alexander, the hotel manager, gave us the most amazing service making sure were happy and comforable in everyway..our lovely room...a late checkout and since we had a late flight, without our asking, offered us a beautiful room to shower in. He made us feel like very special guests and that he took a personal interest in our well being. Nothing was too much. All of the staff was so accomodating and attentive without being obtrusive..We would love to return and would highly recommend Katikies as the place to stay in Santorini.
