My husband and I stayed for 5 nights here in August of 2011 and it was nothing short of amazing. The photos posted here by travelers and professionals don't do it justice - it is the most gorgeous property on the island! The staff, service, food (especially breakfast) were all A++++. We didn't want to leave!

The only negative comments are as others say - the main pool is quite small and chairs were taken early in the morning by other guests. As result, we opted on some days to hang out below the main pool by the jacuzzi, or above it by the cave pool and both were great. Service was a little slower outside the main pool area, but the views were so gorgeous and we were so relaxed, it didn't bother us.

Kudos to the property manager who greeted us upon arrival, and we saw greeting almost every arriving guest. Made us feel very special. Our first room was below the restaurant (which we didn't try but wished we would have) so it was a little noisy, but upon telling the manager we were promptly moved the next morning to a different room.

Highly recommend Katikies for a stay on Oia - especially honeymooners!

Room Tip: Avoid room 5 below the restaurant as it gets noisy with chairs moving, etc. in the evenings.

Katikies was the ultimate magical getaway I had ever experienced. Besides the magnificent and indescribable beauty of Santorini, the Katikies offered a superior experience of staying on this Greek isle. The staff truly waited on you hand and foot, as they wanted to do nothing but please you. The hotels many stairs gave such a picturesque view of the island, and almost made you feel like you were in a whole other world. The infinity pool sitting right off the caldera was breathtaking in so many ways. My cousin and I have never experienced such a relaxing getaway such as this one, and I thank Katikies for top notch service and magnificent views from their hotel.

Their wine tasting is a must!!!!! Besides the intimate/private tasting, the views that surround you the the hotel grounds of the open views of Santorini was an experience to be had. I highly recommend doing the wine tasting early evening before dinner. Afterwards head down to Oia Castle to watch the most AMAZING sunset. SPECTACULAR!

I cannot wait to return to Katikies in Oia, Santorini, to relive this magical getaway again. There is no need to look into any other places to stay on this island, as Katikies has to literally be the BEST hidden gem.

Room Tip: All their rooms are splendid, as they all come with a private balcony.

The view at Katikies is stunning! Nothing is better than having breakfast on one's own private terrace, overlooking the Aegean Sea. The infinity pool is also awesome! You can simply lay on one of their sun beds and relax for the whole day. The food at Katikies is also of great quality, from breakfast (their pancake is a must-try) to late lunch to "The Katikies Dinner Experience" (which we think deserves at least 1 Michelin star). One can simply spend his/her whole day in the hotel without having to leave.

The only shortcoming, I believe, is the stairs, but most hotels in Oia would face the same problem I guess. The hotel room is not of a very luxurious type though we stayed in a superior suite, but the view and the services is what would make you return. Though a bit pricey, we would still recommend anyone who is considering to visit Santorini to stay at Katikies and I definitely would go back one day!

Simply amazing! I was the lucky "plus 1" to a destination wedding on the island of Santorini. This was a high end trip with all the perks and Katikies did not disappoint. We arrived before 6am and while our rooms were far from ready, we were greeted with fresh fruit and expensive champagne. We were happily tipsy before breakfast and enjoyed our wait looking out over what's left of an ancient volcano crater that helps make the island of Santorini. The rooms are each unique. Ours was like a cave built into the side of the mountain, but with shuttered doors that open up into the sunlight and the incredible view of the super blue Mediterranean. That first morning we met the "overnight staff." That man told us we likely wouldn't see him again because of his over night hours. But each night, the group drank at a local bar and came home so late, we saw our "overnight" friend. And every night he made us ham sandwiches to soak up the Ouzo. The infiniti pool is the standard by which all others are measured. There was a male model doing a photo shoot early one morning, using the view and the hotel amenities. The steps can be trecherous (especially after the Ouzo) but every step brings you closer to the Mediterranean. Loved, loved, loved it!! Magical!

Just for some context…My wife and I were in desperate need of some R+R. So unlike past holidays we basically stayed in one place for an extended period. Additionally, we prefer boutique style hotels in great locations with near perfect warm service (Amankila, Tented Camp, Jao, etc.). Finally, this was our first trip to Greece but we have a number of reference points throughout greater Europe and Northern Africa (Capri Palace, Helvetia & Bristol, Dar Ahlam, Le Saint-Paul, etc.).
Katikies combines some of the best attributes of world class properties and may be located in the most beautiful location I have ever experienced. From the moment Demitri collects you at the airport with a warm smile and educated tour of the island you will realize that this will be a great trip. Alexander (Hotel Manager) has created a vibe that rival’s St. Barth’s and service that exceeds anything you would expect on a European island. Nikos (a hulking but very friendly porter) will deliver your bags to your room after travelling across a high risk maze of steps…it may sound silly but you will appreciate this once you see it first-hand. The entire staff was warm, professional and did any amazing job anticipating your needs (nobody sits around…they are always doing something to better the experience…in an unobtrusive manner). I need to call out a few special people that I recommend that you seek out when you arrive…Julian (head waiter of the “Katikies Dining Experience” and probably the most photographed person on our trip…by my wife), Demitri (room service and pool steward…extremely interesting and friendly) and Katrina (room service attendant and pool steward…flawless room service execution with a warm personality).
The food…we ate breakfast everyday on our patio (~11:00am), lunch on our patio (~3:30pm) and finally left the property for dinner after sunset. Katikies is that kind of place! You will not want to leave. Please check out the “Katikies Dinning Experience” at least once (we had it twice in 5 nights).

Room Tip: Room 35 was very good and room 25 is perfect!

The hotel has a beautiful location on the caldera. The highlight of our stay was breakfast on our private terrace each morning. On the day we checked out, the cave pool and the terrace with sun loungers was closed all day due to a wedding at 6:00PM. The other swimming pool area was crowded and there was no breeze. There was no reason to close the best area of the hotel all day for a 6:00PM wedding. It can be difficult to get a sun lounger at the infinity pool even when both pool areas are open. We were upgraded to a superior suite for one night. My husband, who is 6 feet, could not stand up straight in the shower without hitting his head, nor could he get out of bed and stand up without hitting his head. It was uncomfortably hot at night due to the fact that the A/C unit was too small for the suite. We were moved to a junior suite the next night which was much more comfortable and the A/C worked much better. There were no places where my husband had to worry about hitting his head. The hotel is truly beautiful and the rooms were very clean. As with all hotels on the caldera, there are many steps so if you have any mobility issues, you should not stay here. The drinks are very expensive (14 euros). If you decide to stay here, be sure a wedding is not scheduled and parts of the hotel are unavailable.
