We had booked to stay through leading hotels at Katikies with a 21 day cancellation without penalty.
A month prior I called to cancel whilst we were on a cruise and was told reservations was not available but my message will be passed on and if there were issues Nikos in reservations will email me.
21 days prior to the cancelled checkin we get charged $1200 aud , I called them and was told our travel agent had to make any changes and our cancellation was not accepted. So we were charged 1 nights stay which was 50% of our stay. Mind you they sold the room for 1.5 times the initial rate we paid and still would not honour our cancellation a month prior. Rip off, typical Greek hotels they will never learn. Next year I hope they will be empty !
No one is ever available.
Leading hotel of the world allow them to make these rules. It should be 1 rule across the board

Dear reviewer,

Your willingness to share your thoughts with us is greatly appreciated and also gives us the opportunity to restate the policies and the procedures followed by our property.

Following a careful examination of the concerns raised in your review kindly note that:

1) Your cancelation request came only 13 days prior your arrival through a written request by your travel agent. Your travel agent, who already knew that your cancellation request came within the late cancellation period, contacted us through Leading Hotels of World to explain that you were wait listed for a cruise and asked if it is possible to waive the cancellation charges.

2) There are no records of your phone call a month prior. Also note that our front desk is well informed of our policies and, for your own protection, by no means would we ever allow a cancellation over the phone.

3) Furthermore 2 days before your expected arrival, our Reservations Manager responded to your travel agent in a courteous and professional manner that you may change the name of your reservation as requested and send someone else in your place, meaning that we didn’t sold your room as you falsely claim in your review .
Please note that our guests excellent experience of the hotel is of foremost importance to us. In accordance, our policies and procedures reflect our core values and at all times care only for our guests.

To conclude with, kindly note that we totally respect your opinion, however will never overlook the policies of our hotel on which our company values are based.

Once again we thank you for taking the time to review our property.

LOVE!!! We stayed at Katikies hotel recently and cannot stop speaking about it. The service was exceptional, the apartments beautiful and the pool areas the same. They made a mistake with our arrival date and shifted us to another hotek for our first night- but then upgraded us to the master suite which was out of this world. Staff, including the female assistant manager and Alessandro were the best. This was our honeymoon and already we're planning to return next year. We then spent 5 weeks around Europe in nice hotels- but nothing compares with this!!

This property is located in Oia, a famous location for its sunset view. The property is absolutely exquisite. Every room has an ocean view and most rooms have good amount of privacy (except for the top rooms where Oia begins because a lot of tourists stop right above). We arrived in the late afternoon and got a king bed room even though we had requested with the travel agency, a twins room. We immediately asked the hotel about it and were notified that such request was not noted by the travel agency. Since the hotel was full, we could not change the room at that time. However, the hotel had courteously sorted it out and found us a room to change to the following day while we were out.

As soon as we arrived, the concierge came to our room and assist us with any and all reservations. Even though it was Margarita's first few months on the island, she was very helpful and friendly in making dinner reservations, private boat tour booking, and recommendations of places to visit on the island.

After we made a room change, we discovered that neither internet nor phone worked in the room. A receptionist came down to our room to check the service and notified the manager about the problem. The manager promptly came down to our room and checked for herself. Apparently they have just installed a new internet system and it was having glitches. Within an hour, it was fixed. The hotel also sent me some complimentary coffee and desserts for my troubles.

The property itself is the highlight of the hotel. There are total of three pools and they are all infinity pools. When you are by the poolside, it looks like the pools go right over the cliff, into the ocean. The rooms are also very spacious and beautiful for a cave-like room. Breakfast is served in your room and you can order it the night before.

we only had breakfast in the hotel and the food was just ok. We did visit Sunrocks (a sister hotel) one night for dinner and it had spectacular food but the food was not that impressive.

All in all, the hotel was great. The only beef I had with it was the attitude of the male receptionist. He was less friendly than the rest of the staff. We felt like we were bothering him when we had questions or requests.

Room Tip: Don't choose the rooms up high by the pedestrian walkway

When arriving for the second time in a hotel you know what to expect but not in Katikies! The whole hotel has changed completely from last year. I can’t imagine how they did it in a couple of months.
An example, a new pool with romantic lights (yes the old cave pool is gone), a new restaurant, a new dining area, an elevator (!) and not refurbished but completely new extra rooms. The staff is great and the service is the best on the island. I special mention goes out to Toni, Tania, Popi and the manager Alejandro! They are the best! Our memories from the four table dinner (book ahead) and the wine tasting experience are still in our head. We just can’t forget Katikies, Oia and Santorini! This is the best hotel in Oia. We will definitely go back for the third time!

Room Tip: Try the senior suite for an even better experience!

Santorini is a little slice of heaven. There is a breathtaking view everywhere you look, so the setting alone makes the resorts' jobs a whole lot easier in making your stay romantic, relaxing, and unique. However, Katikies cuts no corners in their commitment to making your stay a memorable one. Located in Oia, the view from this cliff-side resort is spectacular. It's location also walking distance from the island's best spot to watch its famous sunsets.

Katikies is clean, fresh, and modern, while still embodying a classic, traditional Greek feel. We were greeted with a complementary bottle of wine from a local Santorini vineyard, in addition to fresh fruit, in our room upon arrival. It is a rather small resort, so there aren't tons of people staying there at once. This made finding a spot at one of their three lovely pools a painless process. They also provide you with a cell phone to be able to contact the hotel at any time, for anything you need, from anywhere on the island.

Their service is impeccable. Anything you need or request, they do their absolute best to accommodate. They helped us to make many dinner reservations, and even offered suggestions regarding the best dishes to order based on where we were going and what we were in the mood for. They helped me to find and make an appointment at a nail salon that offered a specific service I was looking for, and when I asked about an outlet converter, they located one for me and sent it to my room immediately. They were extremely helpful when we asked for recommendations regarding things to do around the island. They helped us rent a car, and also exchanged our money at the best exchange rate we were able to find anywhere in Greece.

I wouldn't say I was upset about anything at the Katikies, however nothing is perfect, and if I could change anything it would be....
1. They don't have a gym. Now this is completely subjective. Many people don't even want to work out at home, much less on vacation. I'm the opposite. A hotel's gym can make or break my experience on a trip (don't judge me). I realized that Santorini in general wasn't very fitness savvy. But there were plenty of ways to stay active on the island, so I was fine. But being that it is a 5 star resort, I would have liked to even have access to a treadmill or something. Again, many people don't care about this at all, this is just my opinion.
2. The Katikies Dinner Experience left a little to be desired. This exclusive restaurant only sits 4 tables at a time, out on a small terrace that has no walls and overlooks the coast. The night we ate there, it was terribly windy and cold, so they seated us in their cave restaurant, right off the main pool. Although it looks out onto the pool, you do not get the view that you're essentially paying for at this dinner experience. And the wind was still so bad (we were seated right at the opening of the room, where there is no door to the outside, just a open wall) that my husbands food blew off his fork twice and we were freezing. They moved us downstairs to their indoor a la carte restaurant where there was no view at all. The food alone, although good, was nothing to write home about. There were two notably amazing dishes (the tandoori chicken and the filet) but otherwise, we were left somewhat disappointed. Moral of the story: NOT worth the money. Especially if you end up with a windy night like we had. You could find a ton other way more delicious restaurants within walking distance, and for much less money. This doesn't account for food in general at the Katikies though. Breakfast out on our balcony every morning was as delicious as it was scenic, and we ate some delicious salads by the pool. (I recommend the curry chicken salad!)

All in all, a great experience, and a lovely first impression of Greece. :)

Dear guests,

Thank you for taking the time to write such an extended and adorable review! We are thrilled that you enjoyed your time at Katikies Hotel and we appreciate you giving so many details, especially regarding our Service Standards!

While we do our best to personalize each of our guest’s experiences, we are still very happy to receive your help in designing the main lines of the best we can offer! Following up your feedback about the gym, we just open a Techno Gym Suite for all guests who don't want to skip their work out routine.

We really appreciate your feedback in regards the Dinner Experience, foremost we want to sincerely apologize for not living up to all your expectations. It is regretful that the weather spoiled the whole dinner experience as we can assure you that in normal conditions the place turns into a magical place at dusk when the sunset lights blaze the sky and a warm breeze dispels the scents of each course aroma's.

We definitely hope to be able to assist you to splurge into Greek luxury again and thank you for choosing our property as the host of your first trip to Greece!

Sunny regards!
