After reviewing several hotels on tripadvisor.com we decided to stay at Perivolas. This hotel was a rare experience. If you are traveling to Greece do not miss staying in Oia on Santorini. Pay the extra dollars to stay in Oia it is worth it. Trust me. This hotel offers great views and walking location to Oia. I highly recommend it.

My husband and I have been fortunate enough to be able to travel quite extensively over the past few years and we both agreed that this was one of, if not the most beautiful hotels we had ever been to. Is the service the best we'd ever had? Maybe not, but it was definitely very very good, and the sheer beauty of the hotel, pool and our room, the bounty of the breakfast and the amount of fun we had laying by the pool drinking and eating to our hearts content way overshadowed any complaints we might have had about the service (of which we can think of none, by the way). Is it cheap? Not at all, but if you can afford it, this place is a little piece of paradise in the Cyclades.

This may sound like an oxy moron but the great thing about Perivolas is that you get the feeling of being in a traditional Greek home (including having to put your TP in the trash can and minus a shower curtain) but with the most amazing views, a fabulous restaurant and incredible customer service. This is the place to stay in Oia and Santorini for that matter. Anytime we told anyone where we were staying they had heard about it or had seen it. It's perfect because you're close enough to the village of Oia to walk to restaurants and shops, but you're far enough away that it's off the beaten path. The views are breathtaking, the infinity pool is probably one of the prettiest in the world. I could have stayed at Perivolas for my entire trip... if only I had the money. The restaurant has traditional Mediterranean food with an upscale slant. The rooms are beautiful white washed caves with blankets and linens that I think they loomed themselves at Perivolas. The staff is so friendly and the rooms are cleaned twice daily. We stayed here for our honeymoon and it was well worth it. If it wasn't our honeymoon though, I think I might have considered one of the other Oia hotels that I've heard are amazing and half the price.

first time in greece. took jfk delta non stop flight to athens and then directly to aegan air short 10am flight to santorini. easy connection nice airline.
hotel picked us up at airport 15 minutes away.
in oia, most hotels are these cave guest houses. we were deciding on katikis or perivolas. the gym was the deciding factor for us. we like to exercise. perivolas is tops in my mind because it sits up higher and hence has possibly the best views. i believe we had the smallest room at the hotel (#8) and we shared a terrace. this was a slight problem the first day since our neighbors hung out all day there and were very loud. luckily they were replaced by a nice british couple the next day. the pool area is wonderful and we spent most of our time there.
we had dinner 2xs the first was terrific, the 2nd not so great. menu never changes and i wish it had more greek specialties.service was very good.
i am glad we stayed in oia. for activities we walked to the vineyard one day, hiked to fira another, (2 1/2 hrs!) and climbed up the 250 steps from a nice dinner down in the harbor.
we were there the last week in september for 3 nights which was perfect. great weather, (high in the low 80s) although it was their shoulder season, we still paid 400euros a night (which included transfers and breakfast) which means while there wasnt much value, you didnt feel like you were being had since it truly is unique and the service was good.
the other guests were 30 yr old brits, expats, americans and asians. i dont believe the hotel was completely full.
beware anyone over 60, the steep, uneven steps and lack of handrails make this a dangerous spot to walk around! if i couldnt afford this spot i might check out ikies which is right next to perivolas.

My wife and I just returned from our stay at the Perivolas. The reality of our stay even exceeded the very high expectations set by their marketing material on the web site. It was a beautiful hotel, with incredible views of Santorini, the Caldera, the islands around the Caldera and Oia. The hotel was gorgeous, and the staff was very attentive. Each of the rooms have incredible views and their own private patio. The breakfast included was delightful with a sumptuous selection of eggs prepared how you like them, pastries, cereals, fruits, Greek Yogurt, meats and cheeses.

The best parts:
1) The incredible views from the rooms and private patios. Beautiful mornings, delightful views during the days, gorgeous sunsets, and romantic evenings of sparkling moonlight on the water.
2) The beautiful pool. It really is as gorgeous as the photos. And the hot tub is almost as beautiful.
3) The incredible, attentive staff. All of the staff are very friendly, and anxious to do whatever is necessary to make your stay incredible. Because the hotel is small, they get to know each of their guests by name.
4) Proximity to Oia. Oia is the jewel of Santorini, a delightful and beautiful town with charming shops and restaurants. It is a nice, short walk from the Perivolas.

Improvement opportunities - it was tough to come up with anything they could do better, so these are minor considerations:
1) Our suite had limited storage. It had two closets, but no dresser or even stand for a suitcase. So, we pretty much lived out of our suitcases set on the floor.
2) Be careful going down the stairs from the pool to the spa / gym. The steps have the abrasive strips, but when you get to the landing at the bottom, you can easily slip and fall. Two guests did while we were there. No critical injuries, but more than a minor bump. I suspect the management has already addressed this problem, though.

Overall, a wonderful stay. It's proximity to Oia was perfect. While Fira and the rest of the island are beautiful too, the beauty of Oia and Perivolas is unparalleled on the island. I wouldn't change a thing....except stay longer next time.

Our stay at Perivolas was absolutely wonderful. We arrived and were taken to our room. Didnt' exactly know what to expect from the cave rooms, but absolutely loved it. They are quite charming and each comes with a kitchenette and terrace overlooking the most AMAZING view of the caldera. There is twice daily maid service.
All of the staff there (most speak english)are extremely helpful with restaurant suggestions and any other questions or concerns you may have.
There is a breakfast buffet each morning and the restaurant also looks at the caldera. The infinity pool is great. There is also a computer in the reception area to check email if you need to.
We almost didn't want to leave the hotel, but you must do the walk from Oia to Fira. Hotel is within close walking distance to the town of Oia with lots of restaurants and shops. The town gets a bit crowded early evening as everyone comes to Oia to see the sunset.
When we go back to Santorini, we will definately stay here again!
THANKS PERIVOLAS for a great time!
Also, there are cats everywhere in Santorini including walking around this hotel. Not sure what they are doing there, but don't be surprised, you'll see them all over.
