“Tourist Trap - never again”

This hotel was a deception. The photos of the hotel and rooms in their website are extremely beautiful, but they do not correspond to the room you will get. ! We hired a transfer from the port to the hotel. The dirver was late and did not have a clear sign with my name on it. When we arrived in OIA we had to make the check-in at the local tourist office which is a louzy place. They take you there first and make you pay for the room in advance, before you see the room! The room was very modestly furnished, the kitchen was not equipped accordingly, the TV was not in place. The staff at hte hotel( not at the tourist office) is friendly but lacks professionalim. The lady at the tourist office do not help you with info on car rental, taxis and transfers unless you book from her!? We had to find a taxi on our own in order to get to the airport. Santorini is a great place and definetly deserves people with more professionalism to deal with the tourists. It is really a pity!

Depends...this place definitely has a fantastic view of the caldera. Our room was on the inside of the western tip, so we were not able to see the sunset directly from our room, but were only a few steps away from a great spot. The room was alright. No curtain in the shower... mess! But, given the room was literally inside the earth (cave style) it provided a most restful sleep with the shutters & door fully closed. We also had 2 lounge chairs on our patio that provided a romantic nightly caldera & star gaze. We'd probably stay somewhere near the top of the cliff if we were to go back. Hiking up the stairs & weaving our way through tourist traffic every morning was not exactly pleasant.

In an email conversation with VIP suites, we were told to find the Ecorama Holiday travel agency for further details on our suite. We filled out some paperwork and waited 10 minutes until this guy took us to our suite. He was very kind and tried to take as much baggage as he could grab for us, however, he could not find our place. We waited another 15 minutes as someone's house terrace until some other guy showed up to lead the way.

We walked down some very narrow and steep stairs to find our "suite" (The staircase was not lit at night and was very dangerous to step down). We entered and found 1) a large room with a small TV (that did not work) and a couch 2) an adjacent bedroom with an queen sized bed 3) a "cave" room with a queen sized bed 4) a very small bathroom 5) a kitchenette with a sink and mini-fridge. We also had a terrace, however, when we went to go sit and enjoy some wine the two chairs were falling apart.

Highlights:
1) Great view for sure! But a litle iffy to sit on those chairs
2) Has air-conditioning
3) if you wanted to keep things cold or make a quick bite to eat you could in the kitchenette.
4) Good location in Oia.

Lowlights:
1) The "amenities" they claim on the website like giving you a mobile phone does not exist
2) If we had any issues we would have to walk back to the travel agency and ask. there was no land line and no reception desk
3) We had to turn on our hot water for the water heater
4) We didn't know our room was going to be cleaned and given clean towels.
5) Don't come home drunk because you will probably not make it down the steep staircase. Way too dangerous even in the daytime!

Had a most enjoyable stay at the VIP suites in Santorini. The rooms are large and fairly basic and it is not a hotel, it is a set of apartments. However the view can not be beat and the location in Oia is the best in town. The only draw back is the very steep staircase in and out of the complex so be prepared for that. But for the price it is a great deal. And the shower was basic but adequate, compare the price to others and you will see this is a great deal.

But there is a pool bar only 5 minute walk from VIP which was great on those hot days.

I based my reservation on the many positive reviews of this property. Now that we have visited in person, I suspect that the suites vary enormously because they seem to be owned individually. Ours (No. 17) was furnished to the most minimal level. The main bedroom had a bed, with a mattress that did not fit and sheets that did not fit the mattress, plus a table against one wall. That was it - nowhere to put clothes, no nightstands. The living area had two hard chairs and a buffet - no comfortable chairs, sofa, or dining table. The kitchenette had one (slow) ring to cook on, and one saucepan. Towels were grey with age. The floors were extremely dirty throughout our stay. The balcony was tiny, and had two uncomfortable chairs for a 4-person suite. At 175 euros a night, it was appalling value for money. Never again!

I was hesitant to book at VIP Suites since they seem to have a strange reservation system that doesn't let you know exactly what room you'll be getting... But I booked anyway after being confirmed of a great view and a one bedroom suite - AND IT WAS WONDERFUL! The VIP Suite property has definitely been refurbished since the "bad reviews" were written. They do have other properties, I saw one & it looked great and even had a pool with sunset views, so the quality seems good all around. Just need to be flexible I guess, or speak to them directly to know what you will be getting. Yes, the steps are steep - they have a guy carry your bags there, and surely could arrange it on departure. My mom is 74 and she loved it! For the price, this place in unbeatable - wait til you stand on your balcony and get hypnotized by the view! I Highly recommend VIP Suites! (It was very clean & comfortable... but keep in mind it's a 3 star accommodation )

Like many other reviewers I can find little to fault in this accommodation.Relaxed and exclusive are far too overused to describe many holiday accommodations. But for a holiday rental suite this has just those qualities. Our suite was Clean and tidy, warm, relaxing, outstanding. This was the first time I'd relied on somebody else doing a booking for me,how my girlfriend found this gem I'll never know. This really is a superb place, great views, spotless, and a terrific location right on the cliff.Overall view of the Vip suites was fantastic, staff at the check in were the best and most cheerful we have ever come across, would we stay there again?Yes of course, and I am looking to book another break with them as soon as possible
