We got married in Santorini and wanted to stay somewhere special before we left to go on our honeymoon and we weren't disappointed!!

We chose the Winemakers suite which has its own terrace, plunge pool and steam room and beautiful views across the Caldera.

On arrival the bed was decorated in rose petals and the staff were so helpful and considerate throughout our time there. The breakfast was delicious and it was a dream eating overlooking the spectacular views.

We only stayed for 3 nights but I am looking forward to going back for our 5 year wedding anniversary!

There are so many glowing reviews written about Ikies, so writing yet another one feels a little redundant. Still, I'll share my exeriences, especially for the sake of those who consider staying in the Gardener's House (which was were we stayed obviously).

We never worried about the room being small, even though we stayed there for a whole week. Really, it is not that much smaller than an average hotel room. The Ikies website represent the rooms as they actually are, so there were no surprises in terms of space, furniture and decor. If the lack of space is a minus (which for us it wasn't), the balcony definitely makes up for it! So ok, you have to walk some meters to get to it, but it is totally worth it. From this balcony you have an undisturbed panorama view of Oia and the sea. A spectacular place to enjoy your breakfast, and a romantic spot to watch the sunset from.

We spent a lot of time by the pool, so having our own balcony right next to it was great. It made it really easy for us at lunch time (PS. the club sandwich is great!) The pool area is small, but it was not a problem at all. Seeing that many of the rooms have private hot tubs, not all of the hotel's guests use the pool. There were always sunbeds available.

The staff is absolutely wonderful. Friendly and helpful, yet discreet. They gave us useful information about which restaurants to visit, and also helped us rent a car. The helpful staff is really what makes Ikies so special!

We stayed at Ikies for 6 nights as part of our 'Wedding-moon'. We arrived the day before the wedding and Eleni, Katerina and Loella did everything to make us as comfortable as possible. I really wanted a full length mirror so that I could see my wedding dress etc and there wasn't one in the room, Eleni managed to borrow one from another hotel I think - nothing was too much trouble. When we came back after our wedding, they had left a bottle of bubbly and a card in the room. The week we spent there was full of lovely personal touches like that. They also rescued me when, the day after the wedding I was struck down with a kidney infection. Eleni got out of her bed to come and give us a lift to the medical centre - again above and beyond the call of duty. We stayed in the Winemaker's suite and the room was absolute luxury with a huge terrace and a wonderful hot tub. Most of the other terraces looked really spacious too.

The breakfasts were really big and excellent - often they kept us going until dinner. We stayed in and ordered food a couple of nights too and both times it was excellent - tasty and fresh and very reasonably priced.

This was a once in a lifetime for us and the only small negative I could say was that the property is now very expensive - the prices have gone up around 20% since we booked so even if we wanted to return I don't think we could afford it!

We spent 3 days at IKIES for our honeymoon and it is without doubt the best holiday we have been on. We read numerous reviews in Trip Advisor before we went and can confirm that it lives up to all the hype.

CHECK IN - When we booked i was impressed with the detailed and helpful communication that i recieved from Katerina and Eleni. They answered all questions and arranged a taxi to meet us at the airport (40 euros each way). We landed in Santorini at 6:30am and as promised our taxi was waiting for us. We travelled to Oia and upon arrival at Ikies we were greeted by Katerina and another member of staff whose name i do not know but was equally helpful. They carried our bags to reception and obviously our room was not ready at that hour but they allowed us to use the shower in the reception area, they brought my wife a cup of tea and later a they brought us a bottle of water without even asking for it. They even offered us a couch/bed at the back of reception for us to have a sleep if we wanted. We were also allowed to use the pool and they provided us with towels. All of this before we had officially even checked in!

THE ROOM - Once we got our room it was simply superb. We were in Boatmans, which is right next to reception, i had read in a couple of reviews that privacy was an issue with Boatmans. This is no longer the case as they have built a wall which gives almost 100% privacy. The hot tub is great and has the most amazing views. The room was lovely and cool and the bed incrediably comfortable. The fridge is initially filled with soft drinks, a bottle of wine and a couple of lagers, all of which is included in the price. Once they have been drank you have to pay for all additional drinks, which is more than you get in most hotel mini-bars.

TRANSPORT - We hired a quad bike for 2 days at 45 euros per day (which includes 3rd party insurance) i recommend getting the 300cc bike as it has a bit of ooomph!!! it is the best way of seeing the island and as long as you dont drive like an idiot the roads are easy to get along with. This was something that we decided on whilst at IKIES and again the staff organised it all for us.

SIGHTS - Oia is a great little town and nice to walk around, especially in the evening after dinner as all the tourist shops are still open. Fira is the main town and as such is much buisier but still worth a visit. Try and get to the southern end of the island for the beeches. it may seem far on a map but takes no more than an hour to get to the good beeches from Oia and on a quadbike an hour flies by.

FOOD - We ate in Oia each night and there are so many restaurants to choose from. As we only ate in 3 i cannot really advise much other than to say you HAVE to go to Dimitires. Ask the hotel staff about it as they recommended it to us and they can tell you exactly where it is but in short it is a wonderful fish restaurant right by the sea and has the best views of the sunset (the restaurant next door is called Sunset Tavern for a reason!) Dimities is small and initimate and the staff are so freindly and helpful to the point that my wife and i wanted a seafood platter, which was not on the menu but they organised one for us.

STAFF - It is the staff that make IKIES what it is. The rooms are all stunning and the views are perfect but it is the helpfullness and friendliness of the staff that allow you to feel completely relaxed and like you are at home. No request is too much for them. I would highly recommend this to any one who wants to go somewhere where they can eat good food, drink nice wine get a wonderful service and recharge their batteries....PERFECT!!!!!

This place was not cheap, but it was my honeymoon so I splurged. My only fear was that I was going to feel as if the money we were paying wasn't worth it. My fears were calmed within the first 2 minutes at Ikies and kept getting better from there! We were greeted by Louella who showed us to our room (the Carpenter's House - we also stayed in the Captain's House b/c of availability when I booked). We had our own deck completed with a table, lounge chairs and a hot tub. The room itself was amazing - much better than the description and photos and the fridge is stocked with beer, wine, soda and water (complimentary). The staff here takes the cake. We felt as if we were the only people staying there. They offered us restaurant recommendations (and made reservations), and activities (Santorini Saling was awesome - I need to write a separate review for it!). Breakfast was brought to us every day and the view were amazing. It's the first hotel as you get to Oia, so it's a good 15-25 min walk to town depending on how far you go, but we didn't mind.

Santorini was our second honeymoon stop. Ikies is not a traditional hotel with a huge pool and restaurant. It is more a B&B style with a lot of charm and amazing service. We stayed in the captain's house. The view are amazing from your own balcony. Every night we watched the sunset on our huge balcony bed with cocktails in our hands. The Jacuzzis are temperature controlled and you can ask them to make them cooler or warmer. The rooms are very clean and it feels almost you move in to your own little apartment. Oia is very quite but has great restaurants. 1800 was great but I preferred the ones near the beach (Dimitry or the one before Dimitry). They are fish restaurants and excellent. I would recommend to rent a car otherwise it might get a little bit boring. Definitely go out in Fira and drive around.

My husband and I stayed at Ikies for three nights at the start of our honeymoon, and it completely lives up to all the reviews on this site. We arrived at 7am, and since there were people still in our room we slept by the pool until they left at midday. Our suite was the antiquarian's - the inside was lovely with such a comfy bed in the cool and dark cave bedroom, and a small kitchen to house our drinks and ice creams. But the best thing is the terrace, with the bed, the wonderful breakfasts and the jacuzzi. the antiquarian's jacuzzi is tucked into a corner, so more private than some of the other rooms' tubs, which can be viewed from other terraces.

The food at ikies is some of the best we had on our trip - it is very reasonable, about 12 euros for a huge salad that serves 2, and totally delicious!

Ikies is not cheap, but it's the perfect place for a few nights of perfection.
