“Wonderful, Amazing Stay at IKIES”
Reviewed 15 July 2009

We have just returned from an amazing trip to Oia, Santorina at IKIES. Oia is beautiful and quaint with wonderful restaurants. But the highlight was our stay at Ikies. First everyone connected wih Ikies is just so incredible and dedicated to making your stay top-notch. We communicated both before our trip and while we were there with Louella, George and Katarina. They were prompt, courteous and very helpful with ideas, recommendations and suggestions. Lazarus who made and brought our breakfast many of the mornings was likewise wonderful. Speaking of the breakfasts---they were wonderful-the food was incredibly fresh, and so delicious. Pair that with the outstanding view and the warm sun ---a wonderful start to each day.
What is unique of Ikies also is its location. It is located aapprox. a 10 min walk from Oia--an easy walk. It is situated above and around the caldera from Oia---so unlike other hotels in Oia you can look down on the village and see the sun set each nite. Other hotels are located in Oia and are lower on the mountain so they face only the caldera ---thus you can not see the sun set or have aperspective of the town. We would have our included cocktail and watch the sun set fro our balcony and then go to Oia for dinner later each evening. Our room was high enough up that we easily saw the sunset---some of the lower units may not have been able to see as much of the sunset.

We enjoyed the private balcony with our own hot tub so much that we never wanted to go away from our room---so we did not see much else other than Ikies and Oia for dinner.

Amazing dinners, beautiful sunsets incredible views and a wonderful staff---

Thank-you Ikies for a spectaular holiday!!

My wife and I recently went to Santorini on our honeymoon and stayed at Ikies per a recommendation from TrueGreece. It was OUTSTANDING!! The views were amazing, the places were absolutely gorgeous inside and out. The breakfast on your private porch is incredible as well. BUT, the staff at Ikies was top notch, awesome. Helped us to get reservations at any restaraunt and directions to anywhere with a smile. We would go back in a heartbeat!!! If we go back to Santorini, we would not stay anywhere else.

We stayed at Ikies for 4 nights in June '09. We spent 3 nights in the Antiquarian's suite and one night in Fisherman's House.

We absolutely LOVED the Antiquarian suite and felt it was worth every penny (euro) spent. The room was spacious - it could easily handle 4 people - the bed was comfortable, laptop for use in room, and the terrace was HUGE!! It was equipped with a private outdoor jacuzzi, patio table with 4 chairs, 2 umbrellas, and a couple of lounge chairs. We really enjoyed having breakfast out on the terrace each morning and soaking in that unbelievably panoramic view of the sea and the terraced town of Oia. Wow!

We were less impressed with the Fisherman's House, mainly because the loft bedroom was quite warm (even with a/c in the room) and a humidifier needed to be run 24/7 while we were staying in the room. That said, the room was clean and the view from the small patio (overlooking the sparkling clean pool) was still a really nice bonus.

The staff at Ikies was very friendly and cheerful and available to answer any questions that we had.

We highly recommend this hotel to those who want a quiet place to stay with a stunning view and friendly staff. We liked that the hotel is at the very end of Oia but still within walking distance.to town. We hope to return to Oia and Ikies one day..

I'm only back a couple of days from our honeymon stay in June and already miss Ikies! What a phenomenal place. We booked our honeymoon using input from all the reviews on this site, arriving first in Athens, staying at Athens Gate hotel and then onto Mykonos where we stayed at the Mykonos Grace. We loved every place we stayed but I have to say that even though the pictures are gorgeous on their website, we were both BLOWN away by our arrival at Ikies. It was even more breathtaking then we thought it would be. We stayed at the Boatman's House and would absolutely recommend it for a couple. The room is almost at the top of the hotel so it is really easy to access, and a wall they've put up gives great privacy from other guests walking to their rooms. The staff at the Ikies were the best I've ever encountered and I don't say that lightly. Every person we came in contact with was courteous, interested in us and if we were in need of anything and just seemed happy to come to work everyday. What a lovely and well run place. Loella was the person we dealt with most and she was just adorable and helpful. An example of the type of staff they have there - we went on Captain Ted's catamaran tour (which many have recommended on this site) but my husband wasn't feeling well when we first got to the boat. We still went on the trip (it was incredible and he ended up feeling fine) but Loella actually called the captain twice to check in on us and make sure everything was ok. What a sweetheart. Lazoros was the cook at Ikies and he was adorable! The food was fresh, delicious and he would surprise us on hot afternoons with complimentary home made fruit sorbet/ices that were fantastic. He always had a smile on his face and was happy to put together anything we wanted to munch on.

Oia is the place to stay in Santorini in my opinion - it is truly the most amazing place to sit out, have a drink and watch a sunset and just take a pause to appreciate life for a moment. Ikies lets you do that in your own setting with a lovely group of people catering to your need. It is expensive but being our honeymoon, we splurged and are so grateful we did. We loved every moment of our stay and would highly recommend it.

This isn't a party scene - it's more one of pure beauty and relaxation. If you're looking for a night scene etc., I would think Fira on Santorini or Mykonos would be better suited. For us, we did that earlier in our trip and wanted to end the trip with more of a laid back, romantic feel. If that's what your goal is, Ikies is the perfect place for you.

My wife and I stayed at the Collector's House for 1 night in mid June and it was one of the most unbelievable experiences of our lives. The Collector's House is the largest and most expensive suite of IKIES, positioned 1 floor aboved the main reception and hence, it enjoys by far the best view of the town of Oia and the caldera. Importantly, not many hotels in Oia can boast sunset views but the view from IKIES is far better than any other on this beautiful island.

The Collectors House had everything- 2 large and separate kingsized bedrooms, each with its own luxurious ensuites, a massive sitting room with huge plasma tv and free wireless broadband internet on the inroom hotel laptop, and most impressive of all was the indoor jacuzzi which extended to become the outdoor balcony pool, overlooking the gorgeous town of Oia & the sunsets. You even have a separate indoor sauna. As you can appreciate, we spent the entire day at the Collectors House and did not bother venturing anywhere else as this is simply the best that the Oia has to offer!

A special note of thanks to the amazing service of Katerina, Loella, George, Lazerus (chef) and Savros! The service that we received from them made our stay even more special and nothing was too much work or effort for them.

Finally, location wise, IKIES is situated furthest from the centre of Oia of all the hotels but it is still only a mere 15 minutes of stroll. In most people's opinions including mine, this location happens to be the best given that it affords guests the best view of Oia. Food is fantastic at IKIES and Lazerus is the friendliest chef that you will ever come across.

All in all, we can't wait to return to IKIES and the Collectors House. Having travelled quite extensively around the world, Oia is one of the most special and romantic places & a stay at IKIES simply made this trip one that we will remember for the rest of our lives!

My now husband and I stayed 3 AMAZING nights at Ikies in the Artisan's house... I know everything has been said before BUT it is worth saying again.
This is the best... I mean the BEST hotel in Santorini... NO wait the BEST hotel I have EVER been to ( and I worked in the hotel business for years )
The staff is amazing, it gives the hotel that extra special something that one can not pay for... Lazarus was FANTASTIC, he brought us complementary ice drink thingy's... I don't know what it was but it was made with freash strawberry's and was TO DIE FOR! He was also extremely friendly and helpful with anything we asked about the island and the hotel. Katrina, how runs the place is AMAZING, she helped us before we arrived by answering many emails, as we were getting married in Santorini, I had MANY MANY questions... and she also responded so fast. By the time I met her it was like meeting a part of my family, she was just a dream! Such a kind and welcoming person, funny too. It really is all the staff (I can't remember all there names but the girl from Sweden, you ROCK too!)
The view from Ikies is amazing, we actually were quite sad to leave... we were having our wedding at another location, but if we could have redone things I would have wanted my wedding at Ikies... it was perfect in every way.
The room was spotless! And the most comfortable bed in Greece... which is hard to come by (most of them are very firm, which I was prepared for... but Ikies was such a welcome suprise, comfortable and soft)
One of the best things is that it is location is just out side of the town of OIA, so you have a much more peaceful atmosphere. I have never slept better. Many evenings we just lounged on our HUGE patio and enjoyed the view of the town.
I can't say enough good things about this hotel. But if you are going to Santorini, you HAVE TO HAVE TO experience this hotel!
We are already planning on returning for our 5 year wedding anniversary, and this time we won't be staying anywhere else!
Thank you Ikies for our WONDERFUL memories!
