“Can we go back there now?!”
Reviewed 5 August 2009

Was going to write a big long review but it looks like everyone else has said what I wanted to say! We stayed in the Captain's house for the first 4 days of our honeymoon (wanted Carpenter's but was booked out). We will always and forever remember our stay there, it was the most beautiful place in the most beautiful location and the staff are exceptional, a perfect combination of friendliness and professionalism. We will be back there without a doubt.

We stayed 2 nights at Ikies (Gardener's Room) and had a wonderful time. The room was tiny but modern (flatscreen tv, cool tiled bathroom). All of the staff were extremely professional, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was served on our terrace each morning and the food was superb. The hotel has spectacular caldera views as well as views of Oia. I hope to return some day soon!

Where do I begin to try and put into words our experience of the Ikies? You can read the reviews and look at the pictures but nothing prepares you for the moment you walk out onto your terrace and see the panoramic view of heaven. The cloudless sky, the sea, a deep, rich shimmering blue with only the little islands to punctuate its beauty. The air so clean it's a pleasure to breathe and as you stand there in awe you can watch as the birds glide and swoop effortlessly on the warm breeze.
We were fortunate to spend a week in the House of the Winemaker one of the suites and trust me it was worth every penny. To have all of that space in that location was pure luxury. This place isn't about the gadgets and designer furnitre found in the likes of the Four Seasons, the luxury comes from within the walls of the place, it will make you sigh constantly and whisper "this is lovely".
The staff are amazing, nothing is too much trouble and even the slightest of requests is taken seriously (they were even prepared to ring restaurants to ask if a specific dish was being served that night !). The food they serve is delishious, how Lazarous makes cold salads devine is a gift and his chocolate cake is to die for! The staff are so repsecfull of your space and privicy, it is those touhes that you can not put a price on. One day we needed the temperature of our out door plunge pool amending and Stavros decided it needed to be drained and refilled which would take about 15 mins', instead of staying there he left us in peace and stood outside of our private gate just popping back to check now and again. The cleaning ladies are the same, if they could float in like ghosts and out again they would !
It was my birthday while we were there and Katarina and Louella had been in league with my husband planning special treats for months and they made sure everything happened like clockwork.
The location is about a 15 min' walk into the main town of Oia, there is a short piece of road to negotiate but if you choose your times right you can avoid the mad rush of traffic as tourists flock to see the sunset. You, of course will not need to flock anywhere, just walk outside and your very own sunset awaits you along with a cocktail of your choice.
If you eat out I would encourage anyone to try the rustic tavernas and avoid the hyped up restaurants. We had some wonderfull, simple, honest Greek food at sensible prices at both Anemomilos and Roka along with some very good Santorini wine but if you want to dine on your terrace Lazarous will make you a scrumpsious offering and believe me, no restaurant has THAT caldera view !
It was a privalige to stay in the Winemakers with its white washed walls and private gate, to relax in the plunge pool with a glass of Champagne, to enjoy the most wonderfull breakfasts served with such grace and to watch the chrimson, flame coloured sunsets with the one you love. This is a special place that will live in my heart forever.

There probably isn't much to add to what has already been written about this hotel. We stayed here for 7 nights and loved every second of it! We had to book two different rooms for our stay. We started in the Antiquarian's House for the first two nights and then moved to the Winemaker's House for five nights.

The views were breathtaking, the rooms were well-equipped and clean and the breakfast was delicious. We also liked the Korres bath products.
Ikies is conveniently located within walking distance of "downtown Oia" but far enough away to feel secluded from the tourist noise.

We can recommend the following restaurants, which we booked one month in advance through the hotel. Ambrosia, Candouni (Terrace), 1800 (reserve a table upstairs in the roof-top garden), Ambrosia & Nectar, Karma and Skala. We also wanted to try Katina's Fish Taverna, but have left the restaurant as no attention has been paid to us within what we consider a reasonable time.

A perfect hotel to relax!!! The best choice in Oia.

Ikies is an amazing place. My husband and I stayed there for four nights and were very sad when it was time to leave. We stayed in the Carpenter's Suite, which is one of the honeymoon suites. I had reserved the suite for three nights, deciding to stay in a less expensive room for our first night. When we arrived, Katerina informed us that they had upgraded us to the suite for our entire stay, so we would not need to switch rooms. Everyone who works there is so friendly and helpful, especially Loella, who I was in contact with prior to out stay. She was amazing at answering all of my questions and giving us recommendations for our visit to Santorini.

The Carpenter's Suite is a beautiful room. It is spacious and meticulously decorated. Our private patio was wonderful as well. We had our own outdoor tub, which served as our pool during the day. It was also wonderful waking up each morning to an elaborate breakfast on our patio. They give you tons of food and plenty of choices. Ikies also has a food menu that is available during the day, which we ordered from twice. The salad was delicious, as was the gazpacho. The vegetables were fresh and the feta was amazingly creamy (some of the best I had on the island!). The views from Ikies are stunning and it is perfectly located towards the edge of Oia. We enjoyed the quiet and walking into the center of town for dinner at night.

If I could return to Ikies at this very moment, I would! My husband and I miss being there. It is a peaceful, beautiful, and tranquil place.

We have just returned from an amazing trip to Oia, Santorina at IKIES. Oia is beautiful and quaint with wonderful restaurants. But the highlight was our stay at Ikies. First everyone connected wih Ikies is just so incredible and dedicated to making your stay top-notch. We communicated both before our trip and while we were there with Louella, George and Katarina. They were prompt, courteous and very helpful with ideas, recommendations and suggestions. Lazarus who made and brought our breakfast many of the mornings was likewise wonderful. Speaking of the breakfasts---they were wonderful-the food was incredibly fresh, and so delicious. Pair that with the outstanding view and the warm sun ---a wonderful start to each day.
What is unique of Ikies also is its location. It is located aapprox. a 10 min walk from Oia--an easy walk. It is situated above and around the caldera from Oia---so unlike other hotels in Oia you can look down on the village and see the sun set each nite. Other hotels are located in Oia and are lower on the mountain so they face only the caldera ---thus you can not see the sun set or have aperspective of the town. We would have our included cocktail and watch the sun set fro our balcony and then go to Oia for dinner later each evening. Our room was high enough up that we easily saw the sunset---some of the lower units may not have been able to see as much of the sunset.

We enjoyed the private balcony with our own hot tub so much that we never wanted to go away from our room---so we did not see much else other than Ikies and Oia for dinner.

Amazing dinners, beautiful sunsets incredible views and a wonderful staff---

Thank-you Ikies for a spectaular holiday!!

My wife and I recently went to Santorini on our honeymoon and stayed at Ikies per a recommendation from TrueGreece. It was OUTSTANDING!! The views were amazing, the places were absolutely gorgeous inside and out. The breakfast on your private porch is incredible as well. BUT, the staff at Ikies was top notch, awesome. Helped us to get reservations at any restaraunt and directions to anywhere with a smile. We would go back in a heartbeat!!! If we go back to Santorini, we would not stay anywhere else.
