“Stunning, romantic, perfect!”
Reviewed 6 October 2012 via mobile

Fanari Villas are an amazing place to soak up the sun and experience the beautiful Oia.... There are 100's of people gathered to view the sunset every evening and staying at Fanari means you are in the prime viewing position- its like a dream!
The rooms are gorgeous- not glamorous, but homely, clean and full of charm. Nicholas- at reception- is an amazing staff member and willing to provide assistance in any way at any time!
Truly beautiful- we spent a week of our honeymoon at Fanari, felt very blessed to have done so!

A wonderful location with outstanding service and views of possibly one of the the best sunsets in the world. A small boutique hotel with very attentive and friendly service. The rooms in the cliff are excellent and provide really a holiday without ever having to leave the property. A built in pool with sauna, whirlpool all very convenient. The restaurant is excellent and provides some of the best food in town. Excellent place to have an early dinner and watch the sunset. Location is perfect with a few steps in to town and a host of other restaurants and shops. A convenient car park which provides reasonable access and the hotel provides help with taxi and luggage right to the room. Service is personal and the manager goes out of his way to look after you and book some special trips and menu items if required. A place to just rest and hang out with spectacular views.

Room Tip: Book an early table in restaurant.

Fanari Villas

A Honeymoon to Remember!
This villa is built into the Cliffside of Oia, with uninterrupted views of the infamous, stunning sunset. Upon arrival the staff ensured that every worry we had dissipated. Poppy and Nikolas were great, and well connected with island tourist facilities as they managed to get us onto all our desired excursions.

Even though we received a special internet rate, we were upgraded to a suite…this was AMAZING. We had two private balconies and felt an element of blessedness - when we saw other tourists crawling over each other on outer walls trying to glimpse the sunset - as we sat at our table enjoying it in private splendour. Breakfast is a perfect array of savoury and sweet, though perhaps an a la carte menu with hot items would personalize the experience (though I never left the buffet hungry!). The rooms were tidy, though the showering facilities left something to be desired, but there was an enormous spa bath. On the same note, the pool could be warmer as otherwise a dip is about as long as is comfortable unless you baked yourself in the midday sun. Though there are steps within the facility, it would take a feat of engineering genius to make use of that landscape without them, and it is not like you climb them all day long. Architecturally this Villas garnishes itself with idyllic objects like cool coves, olive trees, floral vines, and whitewash.

If leaving Oia on an excursion plan to return well before or after sunset. It is a nightmare to get back to the village from the south part of the island with all those who are not resident there making their way for the scenery. Fortunately for us the hotel driver arrived like an angel when no other taxis would even attempt it; he barrelled up passed traffic so we would make it in time so we would not miss a single romantic moment of our honeymoon.

Look no further if you want a relaxed, high-end, quintessentially Greek stay. Dreaming of my return.

We stayed at Fanari Villas fr 3 night. They have the best sunset in the island!Rooms are small but cosi.Really romantic. You need a car or a scooter to go to Fira. Not a problem though because the prices were cheap.20-30 euros/day for a car

We stayed at Fanari for 5 nights and we really enjoyed our stay. Nikolas at reception was exceptionally friendly and gave us one of the best rooms in the hotel with large balcony and great sunset view. Some rooms are around the pool or near restaurant so you have to walk pass them. Our room was at the very end and it was private. You stay in traditional houses so it's very unique experience and you are right above the beautiful Amoudi Bay. We felt so privileged to watch sunset from our own balcony (with santorini wine of course). The villa is very large with kitchen and sitting room area and you get complimentary wine and fruit. Very nice touch. The pool is OK but not suitable for children as it's very deep and cold. The sun deck area was great. We always found available sun loungers. Breakfast was OK but nothing special. The best food at the breakfast table was the cheese pie. The restaurant was really good but very expensive but I would still recommend it specially if you're celebrating. The only thing we were disappointed about was there was no bar open during the day or some sort of pool service (the hotel bellow ours provided this and they were busy). We normally spend quite a lot on cocktails and snacks at the hotel. We had to buy our own drinks because of that. Other than that everything was perfect and if it wasn't for that I would give Fanari 5 stars.

We spent the best 4 days of our honeymoon in greece at Fanari. We can never explain what this place means to us. The service is wonderful and the view is astonishing. Maybe the highlights of our stay was the greatest service provided by Nikolas, in the reception.
You will not regret booking a room there!

We spent a week at Fanari in June and found it to be a superb home base for our vacation. Many good things:
1) Nikola and the rest of the staff are great in all ways--the people at Fanari were among the highlights of our trip. Use them for recommendations, etc.
2) The view. The view. The view. When we arrived from the airport and walked out onto the series of balconies, it was one of those jaw-dropping moments (and I think pretty much every room has a balcony with that great caldera view). Others that we considered online and then walked by turned out to have slightly deceiving pictures. Of course, virtually anywhere in Santorini has lovely views, but hanging right over the caldera is worth paying for.
3) Having a nice pool to sit by turned out to be a really big plus. We spent many hours alternating between reading and swimming, while enjoying the awesome view.
4) Paying the higher prices to stay in Oia ended up feeling well worth it to us. We liked the other villages we visited on the island, but there's definitely a reason Oia fills up every evening and staying there makes you feel like you don't have to leave unless you really feel like it:). Fanari really is a short walk to all kinds of shops and restaurants, as well as the path down to Ammoudi Bay.
5) Breakfast was an excellent start to every day, with a wide variety of food- from traditional Greek to eggs and bacon.
6) Cave rooms that are unique but comfortable, with some amenities like mini-fridges, etc.
7) Again the staff- from the cleaning ladies to the waiters to the front desk, everyone was super-friendly and helpful.

A few small things to be aware of that you might not expect:
1) The on-site restaurant offers pluses and minuses. It's tasty, but expensive, and since you get the view already, you probably won't want to eat there more than once. However, it will be packed every evening and the tables are right outside some of the rooms. It felt fine to us, but it's a bit funny to be walking through tables full of people to get back to your room and then sit next to them on your balcony.
2) While the cave pool is gorgeous, the rest of the spa area is a bit funky, and there's not really a hot tub.
3) Decor in the rooms is a bit dated.

Overall a fabulous place to stay. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with the most private balcony possible.
