Very friendly staff, met the manager as well. Got upgraded for free because we were on our honeymoon! The room was BIG, warm, decorated in fine taste and it screamed ROMANCE at us :) The hot tub right outside our front door was GREAT! Breakfast served indoors was a very nice touch (as it was too windy to eat on the table outside). The hotel has a family feel, but we also had our privacy - so the best of both worlds can be yours too. Satellite TV and free internet was awesome too. Had a fantastic time and would love to go back!

From the hotel you can walk up to the end of the island where you can see the best sunset as well as very pretty buildings and streets. Also, within walking distance of the hotel there is mini supermarkets, a bakery and a pharmacy.

The free internet is not the fastest, however that is how internet is on the island, so it is nothing the hotel did or could have done. And let's face it - free is free - so dont look a gift horse in the mouth :) The other thing to note is that there were workers drilling the rock (am assuming making more lovely cave hotels?) as early as 7 am but again, this is completely out of the control of the hotel or its management.

Hotel Alexander is a small boutique hotel perched on the cliff with stunning sea views. It is self catered apartments with the choice of cave apartments that will delight. Though self catered, a generous and simply delicious breakfast is included and served on your private terrace.

The hotel is situated a few hundred meters from the beginning of the marble walk...so you have the best of both worlds: the proximity of restaurants and shops, and yet not in the thick of it as when the cruise ship tours come in the walk and Oia overall gets crammed/jammed with people.

We booked the Imperial suite which is a lovely 2 bedroom with an expansive living & diningroom overlooking our private terrace with jacuzzi and glorious sea views. Well appointed and exceptionally clean, it was a delight to arrive to after a long flight and journey! Literally 6 doors down was a small grocer that had lovely fresh produce, baked goods and of course Greek wines & beers. We asked that the water of the jacuzzi have the temperature lowered so that it would be cool rather than warm, so we used it as a plunge pool instead of a hit tub. The one small drawback is that if you want the use of a traditional pool, you need to cross the street where there is a shared pool. Though not a huge deal for us as our daughters were teenaged, it may be inconvenient for those with young kids who need constant supervision. On the plus side it was never busy, so we essentially always had the pool to ourselves!

Iveta, the front desk manager, is outstanding! I cannot say enough about she is totally focused on making her guests feel at home. Always not only willing to suggest tours, restaurants etc, she even offered to manage the reservation bookings. Not only is she a ray of sunshine with her beautiful personality, she was attentive and professional and truly made our stay at the hotel wonderful.

We came here during XMAS holidays and while the village is mostly deserted, it still is a great place to visit! the reception was warm and friendly, the apartment was superb - beautifully decorated with 2 full bedroom, great kitchen, sound system and beautiful large terrace overlooking the see from the top of the caldera. There is also a hot tub and 2.5 bath and breakfast is served in the room. Great location, luxury apartment and for this time of the year, it was a bargain!

Room Tip: Come during low or mid season and hope for an upgrade...

This beautiful cave hotel was everything we ever hoped for. The room was huge and the staff very nice. We had breakfast at the office area the first day, but after that, WOW! we had break brought to the room every day. What an incredible treat to eat on the balcony area, complete with flower pots, and a view of the caldera. We stayed during the off season, February, so there wasn't much night life, but that really wasn't what we wanted. We had a good laugh when we were leaving as we asked where to catch the bus - she said "Right out front at the white building". All the buildings are white!
