Anemi Cave House

We had a great stay in this beautiful cave house. Damitri was very kind, thoughtful and helpful. The house has possibly the best view of the sunset which you can enjoy for the gorgeous little alfresco out the front or climb on your own personal roof top and practically have the sun to yourselves right next to the famous bell tower in Oia.

When we visit again we would definitely re-book. It's not only in the most ideal location in Santorini but the cave house itself makes you want to even stay in doors! Amazing holiday and would highly recommend, good value for money.

Dimitris is a great host and Anemi house is magical. My stay was seamless, from taxi pick-up at the airport to meeting Dimitris and him taking care of transporting my
Luggage to the house across all the Greek stairs, to the delightful home he has prepared for travelers. By far one of the best AirBnB experiences I have had. You'd be fortunate to stay here. The locals were lovely, the food was phenomenal and views were simply breath taking. Anemi house is in the perfect location for the sunset and taking a short hike to swim in the healing waters of the Aegean Sea. I highly recommend Dimitris and Anemi house and I am excited for my next stay here in Oia!

I´ve stayed in Anemi House for a few months and I can properly write about this amazing house in details. For starters, you are welcomed with a bottle of local wine, fruit, toasts, butter, honey, coffee, tea, water, shampoo, conditioner and soap, which is a relief after flying for long hours as I did. The house is exactly as shown in the pictures and very cozy, perfectly clean, with a great balcony, a very functional kitchen with all the appliances needed, and a lovely living room with a comfortable sofa, a nice tv, dvd and music player. The bed has a good mattress and is provided with new pillows and nice linen. Also, the room is very quiet at nights and you can hardly listen to the movement outside in the early morning. The bathroom has modern decoration in some details but, at the same time, preserves the cave style and has a great shower. The wi-fi is high speed and it works well even in the balcony. If it´s hot, the cave house style preserves a cool temperature and feels really good to get inside and I´ve never needed to turn on the air conditioner. The sunset is dreamy and, although in the high season there´s a crowd in the premises, they never block or disturb your view in front of the house. Also, there´s a nice umbrella that provides you privacy so you can enjoy the sunset drinking a glass of wine and spreading yourself in the pillows of the balcony. The house is close to the markets, the main street of Oia (one minute walk), the shops, restaurants, bus station, etc, and everybody is very friendly. Oh, the most important, what really makes the house special is the owner Dimitris. He is really the perfect host, providing everything needed, towels, linens, cleaning, showing the area, giving tips to appreciate the best spots in the island and providing a car rent if it´s needed. He really wants his guests to be happy there and enjoy the holidays, making all the effort to provide anything needed, always with a great smile and gentle touch. I guess this is essential as it´s different from the treatment received in so many hotels where you are just another guest and that´s all. Dimitris really cares about what his guests need and honors the greek hospitality! I strongly recommend this house in Oia in any season. So, for those who decide to stay there, I can easily say: relax and enjoy a lifetime experience!!

We have had a wonderful week here enjoying the beauty of the island and the fantastic sunsets which Oia is famous for. During the day Oia can get very busy but in your cosy cave house with it wonderful terrace and comfortable seating you can still enjoy peace and privacy. When the sun sets the crowds arrive in droves but you would hardly know they are there such is the setting of this place.
The property has been fitted out extremely well with every convenience but most of all it is the attention to detail and simple styling that was so lovely.
Dimitri was a wonderful host making sure we had everything we needed. His local knowledge of the island was invaluable. He has created a little bit of paradise here and I have no reservation in recommeding it highly.

We spent 2 nights at Anemi House, a traditional cave house, in early May, 2013. In fact, we booked the house for only one-night stay. The house was soooo amazing that we stayed for one more night there (although we had already booked an unrefundable hotel in Fira for the other day). The house was located very close to the spot for the BEST view of sunset in OIA, and therefore, we were lucky to enjoy the great sunset just from the terrance of our house. The house was large, cute and decorated with warmth and heart. The owner of the house -- Dimitris, was soooo kind and helpful, and just as what he said -- you can find EVERYTHING you need in the house. The welcome wine and basket of fruit are nice and tasty. Anemi is definitely the BEST gataway I had ever stayed in! Compared with its decent price, I believe Anemi is a wise choice for travellers in Santorini.

Room Tip: Sunset of OIA; Cave House; House on the Cliff side of OIA; Great house owner

Dimitris is so kind and wonderful to us, almost shows surprise to us every day. He shares everything including food, car rental, trip advice, souvenir and so many others with us, and help us no matter what, when and where. Furthermore, he is a very careful person, preparing everything for us.
The house is located in a very good place, so we can enjoy the wonderful sunset just at our home. We can also watch stars on the roof of the house. It's a quite amazing night!
Before the trip, we just booked for one night in Anemi, but once we met Dimitris and saw the house, we decided to add one more night, even we have payed for another house for booking. It's too good and too attractive that we are not wlling to leave here.
Hope one day, we could be back again!

Have you ever been to Mardi Gras and wondered who gets the balcony room or been to the Super Bowl and thrown a wistful look up toward the skyboxes? The Anemi House on Santorini is the Greek equivalent. Everyone in the village of Oia gravitates to the western tip of the island to watch the world famous sunset. What they're crowding to see is a lesser version of the sunset from your private decks. That's decks, plural, as there's not only seating just outside the door, but also a perch above with cushions just to sit down, have a glass of wine and watch the Aegean melt away in the colors of sundown.

My family and I (two girls, 7 & 10) arrived for a week's stay on an evening where high winds had delayed flights and cancelle ferries to the island. The prior occupants were still in the house (no way off the island), but Dimitris, the owner, arranged for us to stay in another nearby house for the night and carried our bags to the house, both that night and the following morning. He took me to a nearby market to get some a few things, and bought us a bottle of wine as a gift.

The cave house at Anemi was really one of the most comfortable little places I've ever stayed. It really is built into a cave: there's only one door out and it faces the sea. The house itself is perfectly climate controlled (comfortably cool but not cold in early April). The bathroom is really neat. The whole thing is carved into the cave. Fresh towels arrive daily and there's a washing machine inside the very spacious bathroom space.

The bedroom was large enough for a comfortable queen-sized bed and four big suitcases. Our daughters slept in the front room on beds that doubled as couches during the day. There was a sufficiently large table off the kitchen, a coffee table and another small table as well. The room also had a HDTV with DVD player. Most importantly, the WiFi was not only included in the price, but completely reliable.

The kitchen was perfect for our stay. A full refrigerator with freezer; a microwave; and a mini-stove with broiler and three hot plate burners. There were also dishes and silverware.

Dimitris offered a number of suggestions for restaurants and activities, including the day trip to the active volcano and swim in the hot springs. He arranged a rental car for the day-and-a-half we wanted to tour the southern end of the island, and even negotiated a money-saving arrangement for us whereby we were able to get a few extra hours on the rental.

There is a restaurant, pricey, but really good, about 10 meters from the house. You can put in your order and they'll bring it right to the house.

If you're coming to Oia, you're likely coming for the views of the white-washed buildings and the sunsets. Anemi House does not disappoint. It's a fantastic value and promises to be one of the most memorable travel experiences you'll have.

Room Tip: Stop and get some wine to sit and enjoy the sunset on the balcony.
