Every spot in Thira aka Santorini is paradise so how do you choose? I read a lot of reviews on Trip Advisor and picked Strogili and I wasn't disappointed. In fact, it was more than I expected.

First, staying in Oia was great. Fira is a little loud and crowded vs Oia, and other spots (vigil area) are a little farther to get to. Parnissa is cheaper but on the beach and with no old town (good for backpackers and budget travelers, expect mosquitos). Oia is along a peak and its marble-paved old town has charm to burn. Sunsets go down southwest of the caldera this time of year so a caldera view isn't so important in terms of the sunset, but the view is breathtaking anyway. Up here, a nice breeze blows through which limits insects. Tourists do pile in and out of the old town to see the sun set anyway but living on top of the world is worth it if you want to soak in all the beauty you can. If you aren't up for climbing stairs then a hilltop is not for you but most will love it.

Strogili offers everything the others do (quiet patios down the hill, simple but delicious fresh breakfast) but at a very very reasonable cost vs some others. Rooms are quaint and clean, many with a little kitchen too. While they are not five-star new, they are clean and comfortable. Wifi is free and only occasionally spotty (it is an island, so it's all by satellite). Only spa-like stuff is unavailable, but who cares? The pool is larger than average and steps away and has its own facilities so it feels big and its view is gorgeous.

Most of all, the family-owned feel is generous and welcoming in all the little ways such as a water cooler by the pool. The abundance of flowers adds a little color some others don't. The location is great (near the bus stop and stores, away from the touristy area, but sometimes there is road noise for the first floor rooms due to the gas quads people rent). All in all, at a reasonable cost for this part of town, I don't see how anyone could find a better value on the whole island. Highly recommended.

P.S. All that white and marble... its a giant tanning booth! Bring glasses, a hat and 50 spf strength sunscreen... you'll need it!

Stunningly beautiful views from our patio which was quiet and private. Perfect place to soak up the sun and the views with a glass of wine and a good book. Delighted that it was not overlooked by hoards of tourists like some of the accommodation we saw in Oia. Location is just a short stroll outside of the centre of Oia. Exceptionally friendly staff, especially the receptionist (think she might be called Evi). The swimming pool was also very nice. Didn't get to use it as much as we'd have liked as the weather was still a little hit and miss in May but can imagine in the summer months the pool would be a big draw. There were one or two minor negative points: the poor/almost non existant WIFI reception in our room (although it did work on the patio), the shower which you had to hold in one hand and the breakfast (although quite good) being more or less the same every day. As i said these are all minor gripes though and overall would certainly recommend Strogili.

As expected, we had to climb up/down quite a number of steps everyday to get to the road level. It's not as near as I thought it would be to the city center but it was okay. The apartments are nice and quaint, typical cave houses. Wifi was on the weak side. But the view if fantastic, overlooking the caldera. The breakfast was good, but their homemade yogurt was unforgettable for me :) There's a small grocery just right outside the hotel. They helped us hire a van for the day to go around the island. Oia is the most beautiful, very photogenic. Everything was noticeably more expensive than Athens, from magnets to food.

Room Tip: The lower floors have better views of the caldera but more steps. For senior citizens, opt for the...

This was one of our main destinations of our 3-week European vacation, and needless to say, it did not dissappoint. Quite the opposite. The island itself is amazing. But this hotel was spectacular. First, we were greeted at the airport by Michalis with a personalized, super-friendly manner which immediately stood out from all other places. Once at the hotel we were checked in by Evi, an incredibly nice and helpful young lady. These were the friendliest people by far in the hotel. Poppy was nice enough, but did not seem all that geniune. I gushed about the views of both the caldera and the ocean and was met with a cold "Yes, I know... I live here". She needs to learn that first time visitors will always gush about the views. The views from the hotel and our room were nothing short of breathtaking and spectacular. There are many places to stay in Oia, Santorini. But not all have the same quality of rooms and views as what we saw here. It was a fitting end to what had been a hectic, but wonderful vacation throughout southern Europe. Evi saw to it that whatever we needed, we got... she was amazing. Our ride back to the airport was with Michalis once again, and I have to say there is absolutely nothing negative you can say about this place. My wife and I definitely want to go back to Santorini, and when we do, we plan to stay at Strogili once again.

We spent two nights at Strogili. We chose Strogili for it's quiet location just outside of Oia town center. We were told they upgraded us to a junior superior suite. The cave room was low on the side of the cliff so we had to transverse up and down many steps each day. It was exceptionally difficult with our luggages on arrival and with departure. At both time, we unfortunately had no help with our luggages by Strogili due to the timing. The superior junior suite was clean, well decorated and had a nice kitchen for all cooking needs, but small, dimmed and felt slightly damp. We enjoyed a spectacular view of the Caldera from our patio. We also received a complimentary bottle of Sigalis wine in our suite. The staff arranged for our taxi transfer to the airport early in morning at 5:30am. Staff was very helpful and gave recommendations of tours that sounded wonderful but unfortunately we did not have time to schedule in our vacation.

My husband and I arrived in paradise when we got out of the car and looked at the view that greeted us!! Firstly let me say that Santorini is the most beautiful place in the world... Mike and Poppy picked us up from the airport and were just incredibly sweet and so helpful you cannot help but love them.. Our room number 8 was so clean and welcoming it was just amazing. The bathroom was spotless and I could not find fault with a single thing. The view from our terrace was breathtaking and we literally sat there all day! Breakfast is delivered within 5 minutes of asking and the lady is super nice and so friendly. The walk to the square is about 5 minutes away and they supermarkets and wonderful bakeries. We would buy the local organic fruit and cheese and just sit on our terrace and drink in the view, better than any wine. As you can see our trip to Strogili was a complete success and we cannot wait to get back!! Yassoo to Poppy and MIke.

My wife, 3 year old son, and I stayed here for a week. The location is great, the staff was very friendly and warm, and we had a great time staying here. The unit we stayed in was well maintained and very clean. We received breakfast at the time of our asking and the room was well cleaned each day. I can't say enough about the view from the rooms! The staff was very helpful and friendly. We stayed here off season, so it was too cold for the pool. We rented a car, and they have parking right across the street, my only suggestion for driving yourself there is to pay attention to the rental attendant when he gives you directions. It is not difficult to find, but there are no address so you need to use the landmarks he gives to located it the first time if you don't have a GPS.
