“Why stay anywhere else?”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 July 2011

I only have wonderful thoughts about our stay here! Everything is not only as advertised, but above and beyond. Yvonne and her staff make a stay on Santorini what it should be: relaxing, comfortable, stressless and extremely enjoyable. We arrived at 11:30 p.m., and half expected some problems, but no, the porter was waiting for us at the gate. Be warned, if you have trouble with stairs, or don't think you would like to negotiate between 30 and 100 of them every day, don't come here or any other cliffside hotel. A nice quiet place, with a nice pool and terrace. The food is wonderful! At first glance, it might seem a bit expensive, but bear in mind, that each plate is enough to feed two people. Great pizza!

The bar prices are a little high, so you might want to stock up at a local minimarts. For example, a 330 ml bottle of Mythos beer is 5 euros, but you can buy 500 ml cans at the store for 1,70 euros. As our room had a small bar fridge, we stocked up on local fruit, wine and snacks.

Rooms are cleaned twice a day, which is unheard of. I suspect it might be because you can't flush toilet paper!

You can book tours at the desk with Yvonne, and she is very helpful in providing all kinds of info about the island, including bus schedules and charges, restaurant reservations, etc.

A word of advice: if you're looking for peace and quiet, don't stay in Fira! It's where the cruise ships let off their passengers, and it can get pretty packed. It is full of jewelry, clothing, shoe and souvenir shops, which do their best to get you to go in, especially the jewelry ones. Usually, the cruise people may make a two hour bus trip to Oia, but then they are off again. Stores are open from around 9:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. We shopped early, before the crowds and the heat set in.

And don't expect huge rooms, with all the amenities of a big chain. The price is location, location, location. The rooms are small, but more than adequate. The beds are super, the water pressure is great, lots of hot water, two burners, a sink and a small fridge in the room and two balconies. What more could you want. And honestly, how much time do you think you will be spending in there anyways?

Room Tip: Room 101 is only 32 steps to the pool.

We had a great room in this historic hotel consisting of converted cave houses. Located just below famous windmill pictured in numerous photos of Greece. Numerous steps to get to hotel and to rooms so not for persons with mobility issues. Short walk to hearth of Oia, although also up several stepts. The views from the terraces of the rooms are breathtaking. The staff was attentive and friendly. Definitely would return.

We've just come back from a long weekend stay at the Esperas and what can I say... everything was amazing, amzing, amazing.

The airport pick up went without a hitch, and it took around 20 mins to drive to the property. We had a very early morning arrival (7am) but our lovely room was ready for us as soon as we arrived. Breakfasts are great and we loved havign this by the poolside overlooking the cliffs and the amazing views. A very attentive, helpful and friendly guy helps serves breakfast too. Halfway through our stay, we switched to the honeymoon suite which was absolutuely beautiful and even had a jacuzzi on the terrace! At the time I was lead to believe the room we were staying in was booked for someone else so we had to change rooms but I discovered that it was all part of my boyfriends plan to propose on my birthday and we have this suite to enjoy our last couple of days!

Have to say that what really made the trip special was the lovely staff who dont stop at anything to make sure your stay with them is as lovely as it could be. There are so many people who I'd love to thank personally but Yvonne deserves a special mention as she helped my partner from the start with he booking and enabled us to have this special time in Esperas.

Yvonne - thank you so very much for making our stay as wonderful as it was, and I know Michael is especially grateful for your assistence in making sure everything was organised and kept secret from me! Will always remember Esperas, and hope we come back for a stay very soon!

Irene & Michael

There can be no more beautiful setting anywhere. Carved into the hill overlooking Ammoudi with a stunning view of the caldera, you are surrounded by charm and beauty. The rooms, appointed with antiques, give you a true experience of Oia and transport you to a to a different time and culture. The pool and deck area are peaceful and beautiful. The expert staff are kind and helpful. The food delicious. The rooms are very clean. I want to go back.

Stop looking for other places to stay and make a reservation here. It is the most beautiful place I have ever seen. The views are spectacular, the rooms are comfortable and clean, and the staff is outstanding. Yvonne, Hassna, and Estelle are amazing people that have everything there waiting for you and all the helpful advice you could need. The food is wonderful at the bar and you can sit by the pool and see the most amazing views of this incredible place. I plan to return and do it all over again. My sincere thanks to those patient and kind women and the entire staff that made this trip so memorable. Santorini is like no other destination you can visit.

My wife and I stayed here for three nights (June 2,3,4) at the end of a 12 day journey, and wished we had spent the whole time here! Hassna and Yvonne are fabulous hostesses, the setting for the hotel is other-worldly beautiful, Armando is incredibly friendly and helpful with anything you need, and WE ARE IN LOVE WITH THIS PLACE! This is clearly the best place to stay in Santorini, and our favorite in Greece! By the way, try the Dakos as an appetizer for happy hour -- wonderful!

Room Tip: room 103 is small but wonderful!

We stayed here a year ago and a third of our wedding guests stayed here this year at our recommendation. We were there daily meeting with our friends and coordinating events - the amazing management and staff was as professional and accommodating as ever. Everything was "yes," and our friends really enjoyed their time there. Also, it's one of the few places in Oia where you can find a comfortable, medium bed, rather than the super-hard things popular in Greece. Affordable, yummy room service. We would recommend it again and again.

Room Tip: We prefer the junior suite closest to the pool
