First I'm not a serial hotel reviewer. Generally, I expect highly rated hotels to be as advertised and only write reviews to warn travelers of lodging choices that may not be optimal. Hence, writing a positive review during the 5th day of a one week stay is a first.

The benefits of Esperas:
- traditional setting and first class lodging
- views that are to die for both from the pool area and your private terrace
- amazing sunsets guaranteed
- a beautiful pool area
- outstanding service and a staff that is attentive yield not intrusive
- food service that, while there is no restaurant, is very good and reasonably priced
- other niceties like free DVDs, books, treats on the bed at turn down and gift pool bags and wine upon check in
- its a superb value when you balance all the benefits (we couldn't be happier)

The hotel even sent someone to the pharmacy when someone in our group needed medication.

About Oia:
- views, views and more views
- a wide selection of restaurants
- one of the most beautiful main streets in Europe with shops, restaurants, etc. mixed in with breathtaking vistas
- one pleasant encounter with locals and merchants after another

Finally, we rented a boat for the day and explored the Caldera (sea filled crater) ourselves rather than join one of the many boat tours. This is something I highly recommend. Nothing like docking directly at a restaurant and eating a lunch with views of the volcano, Caldera and towns above.

Feel free to email if you have any questions. This place is wonderful and I will try to take the time to reply.

-Steve

This hotel is beautifully situated and well run. The views of the sea and the sunset are spectacular. The rooms are well appointed, although there is a need for some modernisation, for example of the recliners on the balconies, the showers, etc. Staff, in the main, are very friendly and the service level is pleasant and efficient, with no problems organising transport at short notice, for example. The breakfast buffet and other food options are good. Overall it is the setting that makes this hotel special.

Room Tip: Rooms that are lower down the slope - remembering the steps - have the best view of the caldera and...

On behalf of Esperas Traditional Houses, we would like to thank you for your kind and sincere comments. I would like to take this opportunity to point out the fact that we at Esperas Traditional Houses have taken great care in maintaining the local culture and architecture and are proud to display them inside our rooms and common areas. May I also point out that we are a member of the Historic Hotels of Europe because of these facts. This is also the reason why we have chosen to put the word Traditional in our title.
Thank you.

We arrived at about 6:15am and they had arranged pick-up from the airport for us, also got our room ready for us to use, even though we arrived about 7 hours before check-in time. Room was beautifully put together with an unbeatable view. Staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful, giving tips and organising car and boat hire. SO central in Oia and PERFECT place to explore Oia and Santorini from. Couldn't recommned more highly. Great choice at buffet breakfast too.

Our family of 5 just stayed at Esperas for 3 nights and it was fabulous! George and Yvonne were incredibly helpful and welcoming, the property is beautiful, the views are like no others, and their food for lunch was very good. Only issue we had is their pillows are too hard. They did change them out for us but they need less compacted pillows. Such a minor issue that it's almost not worth mentioning. Everything else about our stay was literally perfect! This was so authentic Oia and offered the best views in Greece. We highly recommend this property and hope to be back someday!! You will love this place!

Oia by comparison to Fira is a quieter place, but the views and the sunset are better. We stayed 2 nights at Esperas, and apart from the views, we felt relaxed and enjoyed our time at the pool area, having breakfast and lunch. The staff were very helpful, courteous and making our stay very pleasant. Esperas was a little hard to find, from a car park that a transport dropped us on our arrival, and Internet wifi could be improved. Other than that, everything else is excellent, location is towards the end of the oia town, some challenging steps down to the hotel....these can viewed positively as much needed exercises and opportunities to take leisurely walks in the town.
