“I didn't want to leave...ever”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 October 2009

Oia is a stunning place to stay in Santorini and Old Oia Houses is gorgeous, a perfect find. Stunning views from first thing in the morning, watching the ships come into port, to mid afternoon when you can fit in the afternoon sun, to late evening where the balcony is the perfect place for a bottle of wine, some olive paste and bread (we used left over from breakfast).

Location is only a few short minutes away from where everyone gathers to watch the sunset and round the corner from a famous photo spot. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance. You feel lucky to be staying in such a great spot.

Rooms are spacious and are decorated in a cosy and charming manner. We had a larger house (three friends travelling together) and with a kitchen and dining area inside and out you could easily do a little cooking if you so desired. I desired to try out the local restauants.

I didn't really want to write this review just in case when I next return it's totally booked out but the hosts handled a booking mistake (made my end) really well and I feel I owe them... damn.

We really didn't want to leave...

The Old Oia Houses are the perfect way to experience Oia. As all the other reviews mentioned, the location can't be beat and the view is spectacular. But to top it all off, the houses themselves are very cute and cozy. Decorated nicely and very clean. It was so nice to sit out on the balcony and watch the sunset. This beats staying in a traditional hotel because it gives you privacy and space (along with a more authentic experience) while including all the benefits of a hotel, ie. housekeeping. The owner (Jill) was very friendly and helpful as well. Would recommend this spot in a heartbeat!

My husband and I loved our stay at the old oia house. We were in the smaller room but loved the quaintness of the room. We were on the patio most of the time enjoying the amazing view. It was truly breathtaking and perfect for relaxation.

Each Oia house is unique and charming. It is like having your own home on the island equipped with bedrooms, a kitchenette, bathroom, and terrace. Each is located in the village and has a great view of the caldera and sea. Because of its unique style, it is unlike a hotel with a easily accessed reception. For the most part the staff is helpful, and they will store or deliver your luggage. The staff and check-in is found at a nearby restaurant that serves pretty good food.

Oia itself is a picturesque town with tourist dining and shopping and breathtaking views. We spent all of our time in this town, but I would recommend renting a bike or car and touring more of the island. We enjoyed our stay in Oia but wish we would have ventured out.

We loved this place! It was a little efficiency with the bedroom actually built into a cave. Fabulous views. A charming owner and maid -- we got fresh bread each day from the owner's restaurant and the cleaning lady replaced other foods like OJ, honey, and jelly when she came into clean. We'd never stay any where but here if we return to Oia - a much nicer area than Fira. Great value compared to prices of other accommodations that we looked at while we walked around the town. This town is the famous place for viewing the sunsets.

We had a lot of trouble getting our food served at the same time when we dined. Two of us were completely finished eating before the third or fourth persons were even served. We chose based on views - big mistake. Strogili and Skala have lovely locations but poor service and not very good food. Then we got smart and ate at places recommended by THE LONELY PLANET. Blue Sky was fabulous.

When we arrived at Oia we asked for the Lotza restuarant and met
Gill who was very friendly and helpful. She walked us to our room
and explained us all the things. We had juice water coffee jam etc
Fresh bread was available everyday after 10am which was delicious.
we had everthing we needed in our room/ it was spacious and the
view was amazing, could spand hours in the balcony outside.
Location was perfect and a few meters away from the best sunset views
the only thing was that there were many stairs to get to the houses but
afterall the place is so beutiful that you don't mind them.
would go back for sure!!!! I recommend aswell to eat at the Lotza restuarant
where they offer delicious food with an amazing view.

This room was absolute bliss! The balcony was by far the best feature, my sister and I spent so much time enjoying the view. Our room was on the small side but it was big enough for the two of us. It had a kitchenette with basic utensils, hot water, air conditioning. There was a bit of tourist information in the room, but not much other info provided (though I am sure we could have asked for it easily enough). Bread, coffee and juice is provided for breakfast and they will arrange a taxi to pick you up from your port or the airport. This was an incredible place to stay in Oia and I far preferred it to the other hotels in this town.
