mypartner and i and 2 friends have just recently spent the most fantastic 5 days at atrina houses in caverna 1894.we chose this place out of many due to the glowing reports on trip advisor.it certainly lived up to its reputation.from the moment you walk through the gates and witness the astonishing view, you know you are about to stay somewhere special.
the room was great and the beds very comfortable.
loved the idea you chose what time you want breakfeast and just pick up the phone and let them know you are ready.everything was so fresh, and we could never manage to eat all that was offered.
all of the staff were marvellous...extremely polite and helpful.they really did go out of their way to help.
i would definitely reccommend for other people to stay here.the location in oia was perfect on the quieter end of the strip.
all in all a fantastic stay.

My husband and I were blown away by the beautiful setting, charming room (Melanie's House), but most of all - the spectacular service at Atrina Houses. We were taken care of from the moment we checked in and the staff was unbelievably attentive and friendly for our entire stay. From the perfect breakfast delivered each morning on our balcony, to the complimentary bottles of water served to us by the pool, this "hotel" felt so luxurious and charming at the same time. The views from our private balcony of the caldera was unbelievable and we even opted to stay on the property one entire day just to take in the beauty of Oia and enjoy the service from Atrina. My husband and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary and Atrina was the perfect place to stay for this occasion! I would recommend it to anyone who wants a unique, private, romantic and well-pampered experience in the unbelieable island of Santorini. It was close walk to all the restaurants & cafes of Oia but private enough that you felt as if you were in your own world! A once and lifetime experience at Atrina Houses!

Room Tip: Melanie's House was so charming!

My wife and I stayed at Atrina for 3 nights in September. It was definitely the most expensive part of our trip but our best stay in Greece. The room was absolutely beautiful and clean. The view from the balcony was mind-blowing.

Athena at the front desk was very helpful during our stay and gave us great tips on what to do and see. We loved the fact that they gave us a cell phone to carry around during our stay. It is such a great idea and something more hotels should do.

The morning breakfast was super - with a basket full of pastries, croissants, cakes, freshly squeezed orange juice and coffee/tea. It was very hard to move after eating such a delicious breakfast.

We highly recommend renting a scooter or ATV and driving around the whole island, as well as the 5 hour sunset cruise on the new catamaran. Those were the highlights of our stay and definitely worth the money.

Room Tip: We picked Tholos 2 for more privacy. The rooms on the main side of the reception get more walking tr...

We arrived in Santorini in the afernoon after an interesting few days of 'British summer' (translation - rain, wind and about 12 degrees). Suffice to say that the fact that it was sunny and 30 degrees put us in a better mood straight away. After a short mini-bus ride from the airport (arranged by Atrina) we arrived at the hotel in Oia.

We were greeted by Athena who took care of our check-in and gave us a quick overview of the main attractions on the island. She was very helpful, without trying to sell us any of the sightseeing attractions and was more than happy to arrange dinners, boat tours and quad bike rentals. Her recommendations, with the notable exception of 'Neptune' resturant, were all spot on.

The hotel itself is near the start of Oia making it easily accessible from the road and less crowded than the sunset end. It features a decent sized swimming pool, plenty of lounge chairs, room service and a great breakfast. The rooms themselves were traditional moulded white domed structures built into the cliff face. Inside we found all the creature comforts that you'd expect for the price, with a feature wall where part of the rough cliff face jutted through the wall.

What we liked...
Staff: The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful ensuring that all our needs were catered for.
Rooms: We stayed in two different rooms, the first being a two bedroom apartment and the second a studio. Both were amazing, with their traditional construction and matching fit-outs. The showers, recessed deep into the back were a unique experience (like showering in an underground cave) although they did steam up a lot.
Breakfast: The included breakfast delivered to our door daily consisting of fruits, muesli, yoghurt, pastries and orange juice was definately a great way to start the day. Sitting in front of our apartment, overlooking the caldera, made it that much better :)

What we didn't like...
Technology: Wi-fi in the rooms did not work. We found ourselves sitting on the stairs next to the reception in order to use the wi-fi. The tv was also rather miniscule but this is a good thing as the last thing you want to do is waste time watching tv when you're in such an amazing place.
Food: The room service/pool bar menu was rather limited but you could still get the basics - mineral water, local beer (we wouldn't recommend it) and milkshakes. The Greek obsession with iced coffees is interesting.

Overall, we would definately go back to Atrina and highly recommend it for anyone thinking of going to Santorini. While there are places with better views and bigger swimming pools, for the price you can't beat this hotel.

My partner and I just stayed at Atrina for 4 nights in mid-September. The entire stay was absolutely amazing.

We were in the Tholos apartment, which is located just off of the pedestrian walkway. The room has amble space as well as a gorgeous, private balcony. Upon arrival, the wonderful staff had a complimentary bottle of wine waiting for us (a welcome treat as we'd just traveled about 16 hours from New York!). This set the tone for our blissful, carefree stay. The view from the balcony was unbelievable -- high enough to see the rest of the hotel and town of Oia cascading below and delightfully nestled in the most beautiful city we'd ever seen. One afternoon after the briefest of light rain showers, there was even a double rainbow that brought everyone out to their balconies in awe of its beauty.

Atrina gives guests a cell phone with reception and the pool bar on speed-dial, and encourages guests to carry it with them as they travel the island should they need anything. There is also free, fast wifi provided at no additional charge.

The staff was always attentive, but never intrusive, and the drinks from the pool bar were delicious. We'd planned most of our time on the island before arrival, but when we needed any advice (or reservations for an unanticipated restaurant) the staff was beyond helpful, always offering to arrange everything for us.

The hotel itself is located just a short walk from a turn in the road through Oia, where the magnificent marble pedestrian walkway begins. This location is ideal, as it's just a bit beyond the main stretch of stores around which crowds from cruise ships gawk, but very close to everything.

We can't recommend Atrina highly enough, and hope to return ourselves one day!

Room Tip: Atrina's website has a detailed map of the property so as to help you choose one of their unique...

We were so impressed with everything about the Atrina houses. The room was lovely, spacious and light and the staff were excellent. We were given a cell phone for contacting the reception with any questions we had (we got lost a few times and they really helped us out!). The staff also have great advie on local restaurants and bars.

The swimming pool was great and the service down there was excellent also, they were very attentive without being in our faces at all. They kept the bottled water coming as we lay outside at no charge also. Also, I can't forget to mention the amazing views which you expect being in Oia but the hotel & service make it all the more special.

We could have stayed for several more days. This hotel is worth every penny!

Room Tip: I would highly recommend doing the walk from Oia to Thira. It's quite a walk but gorgeous views...

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights, from 6/22-6/25/11. We had decided to stay in Oia as we felt we wanted a place that would offer shops and restaurants but be not so overrun with tourists. It was a good decision for us. We found Fira to be much more crowded. Oia does get busy around sunset time but that only lasts for a few hours. Booked via hotel's website beginning of January 2011. The Atrina traditional houses are all given names. We stayed at Canava house. Cost was 250 euros per night which included all taxes and breakfast on our private terrace/balcony. Chose this property due to the pictures and descriptions on the hotel's website. Was not disappointed as the property and amenities were as shown.

Our room was more than a room. It consisted of a very lovely bedroom with a big, comfy bed. Off the bedroom was the master bathroom divided into 3 different areas-sink, toilet, shower big enough to fit 4 people or more. Door leading from bedroom to living room/dining/kitchen area could be closed for privacy/quiet. There was another full bathroom off the living area. Kitchen was compact and had all you needed-for cooking, dining, cleaning. It had a sink, a 2 burner hot plate and a small refrigerator. If you wanted to do any cooking, etc. there was a small grocery type store steps away from this property. We also had a large private balcony which looked out to the caldera, the pool area, and the other properties. It was amazing. We had a table, chairs, and loungers on the balcony. There was a welcome bottle of wine waiting for us-a nice touch. We were given a cell phone to use as you had to call when you were ready for breakfast.

Wonderful service from all staff. Always ready to answer questions, give directions, etc. The property is also in a good location-right close to shops and restaurants. It is off the main pedestrian walkway across from the kindergarden. An easy walk to the area where people gather to watch the sunset.

Breakfasts were typically Greek-yogurt that was divine, fresh fruit, breads, honey, jams, fresh orange juice and great tasting coffee. You could order other breakfast items such as eggs at extra cost if you so desired. We also got a Nature Valley apple crisp bar which we would save for a midmorning snack.

The pool area was very nice. The pool itself is not huge but big per Santorini/Oia standards. Plenty of loungers, towels. Could be in the pool and look out to the caldera. Staff provided water free of charge.

The views from our room were all we could have hoped for and then some. It was beautiful also at night with all the lights. There is no sunset view but we saw the "famed" Santorini/Oia sunset from the end of the walkway and a nicer experience by the desalination plant where we saw the entire village of Oia in the background, but without the crowd of tourists. With all the hype I must say we expected better sunsets than what we saw. The colors of the water and the charming white/blue structures are what wowed me.

The main problem we had was with parking. We had a rental car and there aren't a lot of parking spaces. We were pretty fortunate that there were only a few times where my husband had to park the car a far distance away. The pros of having a car definitely made up for the cons. We were able to explore the entire island-wineries and beaches and quaint villages.

Would recommend this property if looking for a good location in Oia and great service. I did not think the price was bad for a property with a great sea/caldera view, a pool, and the immense suite/room we had.

Room Tip: We chose the Canava. It was very roomy, clean, and fully equipped if thinking about cooking your ow...
