We arrived in Santorini from Naxos without having booked any accommodation. We had previously been told by friends that Oia would be preferable to Thira so we caught a taxi from the port to the far side of the island. Rather than lugging suitcases around the narrow streets of Oia we popped into the tourist information centre who were able to show us a couple of options whilst looking after our bags. We were delighted to have chosen The Residence Suites.

We stayed in a junior suite complete with a balcony, kitchenette, living room, a mezzanine double bedroom and most importantly breathtaking views over the caldera. Elena was a very friendly and helpful host and made us feel very lucky to be staying on Santorini. Access might be considered quite difficult if you are not very mobile but that is going to be a recurring theme in a village that is built into the side of a volcano!

Room Tip: There's no point in coming to Santorini if your room doesn't look out over the caldera. You...

I forgot why we chose this hotel, perhaps the beautiful photos from the hotel's website or great reviews from tripadvisor. Anyhow, we thought it's overpriced and thought we could find better hotel with the money we paid! There's a big giant tree that stands in front of our room which blocks the view! However, we did enjoy its swimming pool.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for posting your review regarding your stay with us, and we appreciate your comment.
We noticed that your stay at the Residence Suites was actually 1 year and a half ago (in 2010).
Would like to kindly mention that for this year, we have made some major improvements in regards of the interior and exterior design of the rooms, and we know that the palm tree was blocking a little bit the sea view in front of the balcony, therefore we took action and reshaped the tree, without damaging it, in order to provide a better view of the sea to our guest.
We truly hope that you will visit this amazing part of the world again, and looking forward to welcoming you back as our guest at Residence Suites.

Best Regards,
The Management

First of all I must say that photos of website are missleading, despite I still enjoy our stay very much.
all houses and reception are separated, you must clime up and down every time, but it is like that everywhere Santorini. at the reception area is a free internet, but the reception zone is included 3 tables for breakfast, 3 chairs for taking sun, jacuzzi which is for one person use only and all of these is in area whithin 16 square meters. the water was not very clean in jacuzzi.
but I really must say complements for the service, very nice ladies who spoke english and italian where there for our assistance all the time, very nice breakfast and delicious omelettes, room service, baggage delivery to the bus station or taxi station. Houses were very comfortable, I loved the cave style and decorations with shells, stones and wood. always clean, fantastic view, very quiet (due to lawer location on a island) the only minus that houses are very close to others.

I had the extreme pleasure of staying one night at this beautiful property and only wish I could have stayed longer! It is located on the cliffs of the Caldera in a perfect spot with beautiful views. The room was huge, with kitchenette, large bathroom and beautifully appointed. This was high season with many tourists so was a little leary about staying here. No need to be because there are doors you have to go through to get to it which makes it private so you don't have tourist strolling by your room day and night. Also has a beautiful veranda with 2 large hot tubs. I would definitely stay here again!
Tia and the girls at ECORAMA who found this property for me were fantastic in helping me with all my accommodations while there. I so appreciate all their hard work and all they did for me especially at the last minute to find such a beautiful place at a great price.

Room Tip: Get in touch with Tia at ECORAMA in Oia and she will find the accommodations that best suite your ne...

I stayed here with my wife at the end of May 2011. We booked this through Agoda as The Residence Resorts and got a great deal. Apparently they have severel properties of varying quality, so it was a bit of a mystery to us where we would actually stay, but we went for it anyway and were pleasantly surprised. I believer our property was called VIP. When you get to town, you check in at the Visitor's Center right across from the bus stop, which was a bit confusing to us. We had to ask around to figure out where to go. They were not super-nice to us, but hey it's Greece...we didn't meet many people who are too friendly to American tourists there, but there are some. Overall they were pretty accommodating and set it up so we could use the swimming pool and wi-fi at the Best Western in town which was very nice of them since the property has neither. And they were VERY NICE to us at the Best Western. After you check in They will walk you through town to your room. this was a long walk and once at the property there a lot of steep stairs. there is no room service as this is more of a condo-type of place than a proper hotel, and there is no parking, but we were always able to find a place around town to park our car. You don't really know what breath-taking means until you see the view here as it literally cause us to gasp it was so pretty. The room itself was solid, if a bit spartan. There is no dresser to put your clothes in, but they do have a rack to hang your shirts/dresses. The bathroom was fine, and it had a little kitchenette which was very welcome after eating out for a couple of days at over-priced, not great restaurants. There are a few markets in town where you can buy groceries, and It was nice to sit on the patio and have breakfast and lunch. This is not a super-luxurious hotel, but it was very solid for the price and VERY Romantic....

This is my second time in Oia. I stayed in a junior suite, and its size was more than adequate, the clear caldera view was astonishing, especially after a tiring day exploring the island! I loved the breakfast with that lovely yogurt, and daily fresh fruits ! A great stay at Residence suites that was. Just right on the very center of oia village.Prices, as expected, are more to the expensive side but you would expect that solely based on its location. The staff there are amazing and will tend to all your needs! Housekeeping was excellent. Very detailed room servicing . Highly recommended!
