From the time you are met by the very nice drivers, welcomed by the wonderful reception ladies you already know you are somewhere very special . The rooms, views, food, service and staff are so very lovely. Make sure to meet the bartender - Dora and waitress Anjeliki (Angela?) -they are the most genuine, kind and heart of Santorini-Thank you Mystique for a most special & remarkable time and memory. 4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 June 2012

Just visited with my wife as a SPG Platinum (leaving 2 small children back at home). We stayed for 4 nights -- and any longer we would have been a bit bored, but this is an amazing place with a very personalized feel. Now for the details:

We are Americans living in Germany, so this was a quick weekend trip for us. Having always been wanting to visit, but not at the crazy SPG point redemption's -- and prices tend to be around 600euro. But we booked a deal on LuxLink: 4 nights, transportation, breakfast, cooking class for about $400US a night.

No upgrade given. I asked- they said they were full but knew this wasn't true because we met a couple who switched rooms because of broken AC. Anyway, I wasn't up for the ole' SPG battle for upgrades. Rooms are cool. Basically a nook in a cave with little to no windows or natural light. The bathroom is nice and has a jacuzzi tub -- but not the fake ones hotels usually claim, but the huge real deal tub that is always filled for you. Other than that, most rooms have a small porch with chairs i front, but no privacy as people walk by.

There are about 25 rooms here and aside from us, nearly everyone was an American couple honeymooning. We are used to huge hotels, so it was interesting to be at a small place where everyone seemingly knows each other. This has more of a B&B feel - definitely not a resort. The downside of this is a tiny, tiny, tiny pool that everyone is supposed to share. Very poor for a SPG Cat 7. When i first saw it i thought it was a private pool for one of the rooms. And it was freezing and not heated. Basically unswimmable -- even in 90F temps.

The other downside is only one restaurant with limited food options. Strange for a resort like place. Now, breakfast is included for all, but not a buffet as you order off a menu. Which is a little strange as you can basically order the whole menu, but you feel guilty ordering more than 1 or 2 things. Food was just ok. But the fresh baked muffins were amazing! Go for those.

The location is very, very cool. Perched on cliffs. There is nothing really like it. But you are basically paying for the view and experience, as facilities are below par for this level hotel. No fitness center, but you have the stairs. Beware!!! You have to walk up and down many, many steps. And i don't mean like a flight or two. From some rooms it may take 100+ stairs to get up to the street level.

I do want to stress how cool and unique this place is. I'm pointing out shortcomings given the cost, but this looks just like the photos online and could be the perfect honeymoon place.

We called and asked for wake-up calls two days in a row. Talking to a real human. They forgot both wake-up calls- fortunately we had our iPad set. Another strange thing, when we arrived and told them we were from Germany several staff members groaned and made disparaging comments about Germany and Germans (given the economic situation in the EU). Now, don't get me wrong, I live in Germany as an American and can be annoyed by German people just as much as the next person, but it is entirely unprofessional for staff at this hotel to act this way. And think I'd have to side with the EU and Germans on this, so these staff just fit the Greek stereotype of being lazy and careless.

Overall, not a Category 7 in my eyes. A nice, cozy hotel. But with the tiny pool and NO beach, there isn't much to do but sit in the small pool area. I think 2 or 3 nights here is enough as part of a larger Greek vacation. But you really do need to go see this place to believe it. The views are one-of-a-kind.

MystiqueOia, General Manager at Mystique Luxury Collection Hotel, responded to this review, 22 July 2012
Dear Guest,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share with all of us your comments regarding your stay at Mystique, a Luxury Collection Hotel, built at the most beautiful cliffs of Santorini.

We would also like to share with you some information regarding our property, which we consider that will assist you to understand more about local architecture, location and facilities of Mystique.

As you already know the Hotel is located in Oia , a traditional village of Santorini, built exactly on those famous cliffs. This is the reason why the property has so many steps as most of the hotels located in Oia. Additionally, Mystique is built on a typical-island style design and especially in accordance to the local architecture (cave-style houses) in perfect harmony with nature, climate and local culture.

Mystique has been awarded as the Best Interior Design Suite Hotel, that was a great honor for us. It is a 22 suites hotel with all the facilities that we feel that are suitable for securing the needs of all our guests.

We really try our best to fulfill the wishes of our guests, however we also need to be in accordance with the local regulations concerning architecture (also size of swimming pool etc) environment and safety.

We would also like to point the fact that Santorini is more famous about the views at the Aegean Caldera, the history and architecture, than the beaches. There are actually few unique beaches located at the south part of the island. I am sure that concierge would always give information concerning the activities that someone can do in Santorini, a little bit different from other Cycladic islands and other destinations.

Finally, we would like to apologize for any inconvenience caused by the comments of our team concerning different nationalities. We are sure that this was not their aim. Greece is famous about hospitality and honestly we are more than happy to welcome each year people from all over the world.

We would like to thank you once again for your time and we would be glad to welcome you once again at beautiful Santorini and our Hotel in the near future.

Kind Regards,

Markos, E. Tzamalis

My wife and i spent 3 nights at Mystique while in Santorini and i have to say that it is a fantastic property in terms of location (Oia is probably the best area to stay in), view (one of the most gorgeous views of the Caldera you can find), suite size and amenities (we stayed at the Allure suite which had a bedroom, living area, bathroom with jacuzzi, and a huge outdoor area with sun beds), and food. The staff is extra friendly and they really go out of their way to provide guests with everything possible. A special mention is for Vicky and Christina who were really helpful with all that we required. I would certainly recommend ONLY this property to all visitors to Santorini, to make the visit all the more beautiful and memorable.

Room Tip: Allure suites are bigger than Vibrant suites and also have bigger outdoor areas. Try and ask for an...

My husband and I went here for the first leg of our honeymoon. We spent 6 nights at Mystique and had the most incredible time. We were in an Allure Suite which was incredibly spacious and beautiful. The staff at the hotel was amazing. Everyone was so friendly and caring. We really didn't want to leave. The location in Oia was fabulous too. Its just at the start of town. There were quite a lot of stairs but we needed it after eating so much. Also, the breakfast came included in the hotel rate and the view from the restaurant did not get old. I'm still dreaming about the breakfast menu and the made to order blueberry muffins and danishes!

your view from every place in the hotel is the beautiful caldera, the cliffs and a very quiet traffic of ferry boats, cruise ships, sailboats and yachts....
every one of the hotel staff is extremely friendly and helpful and tries to make your whatever wish come true,
except maybe the wish for some more shade, they don´t have too many umbrellas, the strong winds sometimes during the day make it almost impossible to keep them open or in one piece....
the breakfast is the most delicious ever and the location ...again...
I don´t think it can get any better on this planet :-)
the food at the restaurant very good as well as the drinks and snacks troughout the day....
the rooms are nice and tastefully decorated each with own terrace and chairs, but not really much privacy except maybe for the spirituel suites or villas.....
since it is a small hotel with not too many rooms, it´s fine....
small pool because of the location on the cliffs, no access to beach, but the view lets you forget these things...
I would not recommend it for children, but for a relaxing holiday with your partner any time....
we´ll hope to be back soon :-)

My wife and I visited Mystique the first week of May 2012. This is a gorgeous hotel - and the staff was amazing. Christina welcomed us when we arrived and constantly checked-in to insure that there were no problems. Really enjoyed our stay and would certainly recommend others to stay there as well. We hope to return soon.

Room Tip: All of the rooms have great views. We stayed in Room 12 - which is large and has a hot tub in the b...

I spent three days in Mystique Hotel and can't fault anything, The exceptional staff will make you feel welcome and happy you are spending your time in their hotel.
I have stayed in a large suite with an amazing balcony with views you cannot describe until you have seen it with your own eyes.
As I have already rated the hotel I would advise you to use their iPhone or iPad application to seek answers to your questions in regards to the island, where to swim, what to see and where to go or even the weather for the next days, information is very genuine and you don't need anything else to explore the island.
Thank you Dora, Aggela, Christina, Vicky, and whole Mystique team, you are the best.
We only stayed for 3 nights but the service they gave us, before arrival, during our stay, after we left is just uncomparable - it is worth every single penny you pay for and I would never hesitate to come back again.
