“Private Villa - worth the price”
Reviewed 17 October 2011

My husband and I shared a private villa with another couple we were traveling with for one night and stayed in one of the apartments the second night. Even though it was a bit of a pain to move our stuff, the private villa was totally worth it. Amazing views. Beautiful terrace to have a cup of coffee in the morning and sit back and relax. The villa had one completely separate bedroom and one that was separated by a curtain. One bathroom to share – for 2 couples was a bit much. Would work great for a family of 4. Tub was a nice size although, in both the villa and the apartment, the shower head was only hand held and couldn't be attached to the wall. very weird. The apartment shower was tiny and I kept on hitting the shower curtain. Views of the caldera from the private villa and views of the back side of the island from the apartment. Both were air conditioned. Nice walk to get to the main shops and many restaurants of Oia. Wonderful place to stay.

Room Tip: Go for the private villas. Amazing experience.

My husband and I stayed at the Anemomilos hotel for 8 nights in Sept 2011. The photos on the website don't do it justice. We were greeted by Stelios, who gave us a choice of 2 rooms to choose from. Both had pool and oustanding sea views from a lovely balcony. We did not overlook the Caldera, but it was a nice change to see the other side, as we saw the Caldera views on a daily basis when travelling around.

The room was spotless and we received clean sheets and towels every day. We booked ona room basis only, however a few times we ate in the restaurant for breakfast and evening meals and it was just lovely, and very well priced.

The pool and pool area was kept spotless and we had daily visits from a lovely cat and watched the little birds bathing at the edge of the pool. I am not sure if it would be busier during the other summer months, but most days we had the pool to ourselves, and sometimes there were other guests, but no more than 6 all at the same time, so it felt like a private pool.
There were plenty of sun loungers on a daily basis. There is a well stocked shop oppopsite the hotel and restaurant, and also a bus stop. The village of Oia is absolutely stunning. We spent many days and evenings walking along the quaint streets, stunned at each view and photo opportunity around each corner. The sunset by the castle is a must- very emotional when everyone strats clapping as the sun disappears on the horizon.

i would recommend this hotel, this village and this Greek Island to anyone, it was just perfect. Thank you Stelios and his lovely Mother for making our holiday perfect. We hope to see you again one day.
Melanie

Room Tip: We had a non caldera view which was equally as beautiful, and also a pool view, from the second floo...

The hotel is at the beginning of the village only a short walk from the pedestrian zone of Oia although busy traffic makes the walk perilous at times. We had a sea view room with balcony. We sat there in the evenings and watched the much hyped Aegean sunset. The pool was a plus considering how far the hotel was from the sea. Shampoo, soap and shower gel were provided. Also towels and pool towels. Rooms had A/C and a small fridge. Hotel had a good wi-fi internet coverage. Continental breakfast was of limited choice. Same ham and cheese every day, toasted bread, cereals, cake and jam. There's a grocery shop just across the road from the hotel where we went to buy drinks whilst relaxing by the pool. Overall a pleasant stay.

My teenage daughter, her best friend and I stayed at Anemomilos Hotel for 8 days in June 2011 as part of a Volcano Discovery natural history tour. We absolutely loved it, and never again found a better, more luxurious and more friendly hotel in our month-long travels through Turkey, Greece and Italy. Anemomilos (Windmill) Hotel is the place for you if you want a special, authentic family-run establishment next to the caldera with beautiful views, an immaculate and refreshing swimming pool (very popular with kids), friendly owners and staff, comfortable rooms, attractive and welcoming restaurant and delicious meals. You could not do better in Santorini and will be very glad you stayed here and met Spiros Kokkalis, his mother Margarita and their family - lovely people.

Had a great location near the bus stop to get into Fira and near the pedestrian road with access to Oia. Hotel's restaurant was inexpensive but good. Pretty simple accomodations but the hotel had a nice pool that was never crowded. You have a sea view but not a caldera view but caldera view hotels in Oia are at least double the price, don't think its that worth it unless you plan on never leaving your hotel.

i posted a video on YOUTUBE which shows my room, #4 when I was there in 2010... Just type in....ANEMOMILOS HOTEL OIA ......it is a short video.....

I have stayed at this hotel 3 times now, so it is time to write a review...when I am Santorini...I go out & explore....the room is to nap, relax, cool down & sleep....I don't need FRILLS...but comfort and clean is good....

I used to stay at the beautiful OLYMPIC Villas on the Caldera....STUNNING views...When hotels started to get RIDICULOUSLY high in OIA about 8yrs ago, it went from $175 nite to $600 a nite after renovations ..... So.....I decided to go elsewhere....

The ANEMOMILOS is on the right, just as you enter OIA.....Across the street is the main store, and a bus stop. It is 5 min from a bakery, 10 min from an ATM....PERFECT for me.....I'd been eating at their restaurant for years and knew the owners by then....

Rates can range from $50-60 E...up to $200E depending on the kind of room and the season....CHECK THEIR WEBSITE for RATES....

Spiros and wife, along with his father/mother have operated the hotel/restaurant for decades...They work VERY hard during the tourist season.....and I appreciate all the do.....and having the bus stop across the street is the BEST!

He now as three buildings....
The larger main building on the RT as you come into town, right behind the Restaurant....then, a 5 unit building down the road with LOFT bedrooms and KITCHENS...and also a VILLA on the CALDERA side (which I have not seen).
Every year, Spiros and his family have shown nothing but care, concern and hospitality.... I cannot say enough about all of them....they work VERY hard during the tourist season.

My rooms are always clean, with small fridge, phone, and a small TV w/ mosty Greek Channels, but in the VILLA I think you get Cable and WiFi....check with the hotel....
and the grounds are well taken care of....there is a POOL behind the main building. with a majestic view of the fields down to the sea, where you can see IOS in the distance......

Their website has pictures and rates and you can email them directly.... Spiros and his wife speak English, his mother does not...

If you are a first timer to SANTORINI.....Know that OIa is a quieter place and Fira is younger, dirty and crazy BUSY.........In Oia i you will find Amoudi Bay--where they filmed the TRAVELING PANTS Movie-...and be sure to go to THRIASIA island.....and take the donkey ride up to see the incredible views of Santorini....
A boat leaves from Amoudi Bay twice a day.....and only cost 1 Euro....

Enjoy your stay in SANTORIN....and tell SPIROS that PETER from California recommended it.....

My husband and I got back from Greece yesterday, where we spent our 2-week honeymoon. Anemomilos Hotel was stop #2 on our trip and villa 2 was seriously the perfect choice for us. Spending 2 weeks in Europe meant we had to be budget-conscious when choosing hotels but didn't want to give up feeling like we had a touch of luxury during our trip, and this hotel gave us exactly the right mix. While the main hotel is across the street from the caldera, villa 2 is nestled among other villas and apartments right in the cliff overlooking the caldera with the most perfect view imaginable. The room was huge and very convenient (new bathroom, small but very functional kitchen, huge living area and separate bedroom). The bed and pillows were rather old but that is my only complaint about the room.

The only thing to keep in mind about the room is that while in the village of Oia, it is not on the 'main drag' of hotels and restaurants where most caldera-view rooms are located - it's only a short walk down the street, but there are no sidewalks and walking back and forth to the town was a bit scary, especially at night. That is the only reason for the missing star. But overall, considering the location and the view, the fact that this room was $100+/night less than other options right in the village, it was an amazing value and I'd totally recommend it to anyone!
