We stayed here for a week with our 2 young kids and had an incredible stay. The yellow themed villa we stayed in had 2 comfy single beds that doubled up as couches during the day and a big king bed. Beautifully furnished and amazing uninterrupted 180 defeee views of the Caldera, Fira and Oia. We enjoyed sitting in the spa in the afternoon overlooking breathtaking views and sitting on our roof at sunset where we could catch most of the sunset without the crowds. We were torn between eating in the lovely restaurants in the gorgeous town of Oia (5 min walk away) or staying at our place and self catering in our well stocked kitchen and eating on our balcony which we thought had better view than most restaurants in Oia.
The main hotel and apartments are on the other side of the road, 2 min walk away, and face the Sea. The "villas" are caldera side, and the upmarket offering. Sounds strange, but in Santorini, the sea view is not the view everyone wants on the island, unlike most places! The caldera view is breathtaking and where you want to be. We thought it was worth the extra money to be caldera facing - after all that's what makes Santorini special and unlike any other island!
The staff were great, daily cleaning (including spa cleaning) and fresh towels. Spiros the manager was very accommodating. One evening I had an accident in the room and emailed to let him know some feedback regarding how to amend the room so it didn't occur again. In part it was due to my clumsiness. He quickly called and offered to cover medical costs (which I didn't need but was kind of him to offer) and also has told me he has rectified the minor detail in the room which contributed to the incident by organising to make my suggested change. I was amazed at his concern and responsiveness.
A decent breakfast selection and good pool to relax in. Even had a shallow kids pool connected to the adults pool which was perfect for our family.
This hotel was also ideal for us because it had car parking, was not in the thick of it in Oia proper where it's all pedestrian only. We had a lot of luggage and two kids who can't walk very far. Anemomilos is just on the edge of Oia town which meant we got the gorgeous view of both Oia and Imerovigli and Fira, with the convenience of accessibility to our car to drive. And trust me - you need a car in Santorini to access the beaches and explore the large island. Buses and taxis are not very easy to navigate!
Additionally we were amongst the gorgeous cliff side white villas so had the same picture perfect feel you expect from Santorini.
Highly recommend Anemomilos villas. Try to book directly on their website and not broker sites as they charge very high fees which sometimes get passed onto the consumer. We learnt the hard way and paid about 20% more than if we had gone through the hotel directly.
