We stumbled upon this place on our first night in Oia and loved loved the food. The place is quite busy and apparently a good spot for watching the sunset and a great view of the town so make sure you have your reservation before hand if you want the terrace seating. Anyways, so it was our 1st night and when we arrived, the hostess mentioned that the terrace was fully booked and we were seated below which we didnt mind ofcourse. And as we were having our food, we noticed different groups come by asking for terrace seating. Like us, they didnt have any reservations and were seated below. But, what we found peculiar was that if the group was a big one, they did find seating on the terrace even during such a busy time or if the customer was someone who looked European/caucasian, they'd def find terrace seating. Anyways, we talked about it but didnt pay much attention to it. You know, you don't want to taint your amazing gastronomic experience thinking that the host might be racist or partial.
So on our third day in Oia, we decided to head to the place again for lunch because the food was delish, right. And it wasnt peak lunch hour, rather around 2ish in the afternoon,we figured terrace seating would be available w/o any reservations. But the hostess mentioned again that they were full so we were seated below. And we were fine and thought maybe they are busy always. But to our shock, the same thing happened again.big groups/caucasian were sent to the terrace and the rest below. I simply couldnt control myself and asked her what I had noticed..and her reply was.." we have cancellations at the v.last.minute so we have space available." O!how v.convenient to have cancellations just when the big groups or caucasians arrive was my thought obv. anyone with an inch of a sensible brain could make it out.i didnt say anything further but the third time was enough to make me never want to go back to that place. And trust me, I have traveled well and dined enough to understand when you or someone else is not being treated right at a place. This place needs to change its manners!
