My husband, myself and adult daughter stayed here the first week of June before things really get packed, they were still busy but always had time for everyone staying there. It is a family run business, handled in a warm and caring family way. Nectarina was everything you could ask for in a hostess, Nikos is your real bit of Greek culture. We had a cave room, which was really well set up and cool when it was hot outside. The pool was fabulous with stunning views everywhere and an amazing place to relax after a busy day, you get free wi fi there too. Everything you might need is so conveniently situated close to the hotel aswell. You'll get fit climbing the stairs too, but every one of them is worth it just to stay there.

Room Tip: Start ringing or faxing early in April to get hold of them. Winters for them are spent in Athens.

We spent 5 nights at Lauda and loved every single one of them. We were greeted by the wonderful host, Nectarina who is just great. She has the ability to make you smile every time you talk to her and will bend over backwards to try to help you.
We enjoyed the huge balcony every morning with our own cooked breakfast and most of the nights we cooked our own dinner (including fresh fish). They provide all your cooking utensils. Go next door, get some fresh veggies, fresh feta cheese and nice bottle of Santorini wine and you are in for a treat! Everybody will envy you. That's how we felt.
This place is simply magical, family owned, simple, affordable and worth every penny. If you are planning a trip to Santorini, stay here! WHY NOT?

Room Tip: Spend more for a bigger room, its worth it!

This was my second trip back to Santorini, having previously stayed in Thira. Oia and Thira are both beautiful but I was worried that Oia might be the more touristy, crowded of the two because it is much smaller. It can get busy at peak cruise-ship docking time, however Lauda is tucked away so well you may think you're the only guest in town. Our rooms had a private balcony and sunning area with an uninterrupted view of the Caldera. The pool, although small, was never crowded and always relaxing.

The rooms are very simple so don't expect luxury, but because they are built far back into the cliffside, they are cool and dark after a hot Greek day. Also some of them have kitchen facilities so you can make your own meals to enjoy on your private balcony. Staff are friendly, helpful (they carry your bags down the stairs, don't worry!) and easygoing. A real winner on Santorini.

I really loved the place, clean, fresh, and Nektarina is just a wonderfull host who helps you out with ANYTHING you ask.
It's a family business, so it makes it very personal.

Would recommend it to everybody (-:

Stayed a week with wife in the Lauda hotel and would definitely stay again if I was in Oia. The cave room was fairly basically furnished but did the job just fine, bed was very comfy and the shower was perfectly fine, so that was good enough for us. Fridge for keeping beer and water cold, sink, hotplate, all we needed. We had a SUPERB view of the caldera from the sun terrace in front of our room. All rooms have a small terrace, some bigger than others, where you can sunbathe if you want. We had more steps than anyone else to get up to street level, but this was not a problem, we are not mega-fit but are not unfit either. The steps might be an issue for elderly people.

Lauda's rooms are quiet, the rooms being down steps from street level (not that the street is loud, as it's pedestrian only), but it is perfectly located for the town. At least 2 dozen restaurants, loads of souvenir shops, several small supermarkets, and the famous sunset view are all within 5 min walk. Location is a big plus point.

Lauda's pool is great, never struggled to get a lounger or space under a parasol. Free Wifi in the pool area.

Rooms cleaned everyday, new sheets and towels.

Nectarina (the manager) is great, speaks fantastic English, much better than my Greek.

Would highly recommend.
