Stayed for 7 nights August 2014. The beauty of Santorini is staying at the top - the beaches are very average and you can stay on a beach anywhere. You have to be at the top to appreciate the unique beauty of Santorini - and this hotel is 100% perfectly placed for this.
When you see the classic postcards of the island - there is Scirocco right in the centre. It is not a plush boutique hotel, in fact it is quite basic and traditional. But if you are looking for location, cleanliness, value for money and friendly staff - this is the one for you.
We stayed in room one, which is right at the top by reception, and so not many steps to go up to town, but about 85 down to the pool. However, once at the pool it was beautiful, clean and warm.
We had breakfast included which was 9 - 11am each day - fresh bread, boiled egg, ham, cheese, delicious greek yogurt with honey and fresh coffee.
The staff, each and every one was so friendly and welcoming.
It is a short walk to the numerous shops and restaurants of Fira, and the bus station from where you can reach all of the island.
I would definitely stay here again and would recommend to anyone.

Room Tip: Room one was good for us as closest to the top.

We stayed here for a week in july 2014.
Even though it was fully booked when i first sent them mail, Anja on Scirocco was quick to send me a mail when they got a cancellation, and told me we could stay there the whole stay if it was okay to switch rooms a couple of times. She showed us great service and made it possible for us to stay one week on Fira, instead in Kamari (where we did not want to stay), since all hotels in the caldera was fully booked.

We stayed in three different rooms, and all the rooms had amazing caldera and sunset view.
The rooms are a bit basic, and the pillows and bed are not very good, but i guess that is pretty common in Greek islands. But the rooms have good sizes and very nice balconies, and also air condition.
The hotel is located central in Fira, with a short walk up some stairs to the main center.
It also has a small pool with beds around it, and it was seldom a problem finding a free bed.

The staff we had contact with was awesome. Anja, Arthur and Edy, were all very service friendly. They picked us up and drove us back to the airport, and carried the luggage.

The only reason i'm not giving 5 stars, is that they are VERY strict on keeping the hotel quiet, even though there is plenty of music and noise from the different bars and restaurants in the caldera. We got complaints one evening when we were sitting on the balcony, taking some beers and listening to low music. And insted of doing it in a subtle way, this really angry guy who was sitting in the reception that night, threatened to call the police and throw us on the street, if we didn't stop the music.

As per the opening title of my review (and many others on here), this hotel is ideally situated in Fira just a couple of minutes walk to the centre and you're there and the views from this hotel are out of this world!

>It annoys me were people have knocked a star/ point of a hotel review were they said (they had to climb lots of steps) or they were sick from drinking the Tap water......!!! Ok, golden rule, when you go on holiday (except UK / France and perhaps Germany) don't drink tap water because it will make you I'll and it's not rocket science. As for the steps.......it's Santorini, you are not going to get flat even surfaces everywhere.....it a volcanic island after all !!

A lot of hotels in this area along the caldera charge 2/3 if not 4 times the price of what scirocco charge......because at the end if the day it's all about the view primarily !!
With this In mind, Some hotels along the caldera can't even offer the added bonus of a pool.....or if they do, most of the time they a just a glorified hot tub!!!

Scirocco ticks all the boxes for location, views, nice big balcony looking from the caldera at the volcano & sun set..... And when you glance up towards the right of the hotel about 700 yards away were the bars etc are you can see hoards of people in the distance gathering for the beautiful sunsets .... and you feel very smug and happy that you can sit and enjoy everything from your OWN balcony!!!

As previous people have said on here, depending on what room type you get will depend on the type of balcony you get.... But that said they are ALL a very decent size and ALL have a fantastic view facing the volcano and sunset beyond !!

We stayed in room 6 which is a studio room. The room itself was a small - to "average" sized room, with a double bed and equipped with a sink, kettle, fridge and some cooking utensils. Bathroom had a small bath converted shower unit which I've never seen before but it's fine for getting ready to go out etc as you don't go on holiday to have a bath after all!!

Air con was spot on and the view from our bedroom window was immense..... As it faced the same direction as out balcony did.
Check out all of my pictures so you can see exactly what I mean.

The only slight negatives I can think of really is the breakfast every morning was not very appatising , as it consisted of a pot of tea or coffee, a basket of crusty bread, a yogurt each and a boiled egg....and sometimes a choclate the breakfast bar. I don't know what it is about going on holiday outside of the uk, as everyone seems to think people want a boiled egg (everywhere we go!!)..... Anyway, needless to say we got bored of huge breakfast shenanigans after day two! There is a liddle about 3/4 mile away from the hotel (so not really walkable as you would be best jumping on a quad bike or car to get there) and you can buy cereal / milk etc from there which is what we did.

The only other negative I can really think of, is that our bed (mattress) wasn't that comfy, it was very firm (and we like a firm mattress but not quite like what we had). That said I slept fine every night, however my girlfriend has broken sleeps because of it.

Again, as you will of probably read through other reviews, the host is a lovely woman and she picks you up from the airport and brings you to the hotel (and gives you a little running commentry of what place is were and recommended restaurants etc).

Eddie, who is there guy who helps you with your luggage to the hotel and from the hotel (when you're leaving) again. Credit due here as he does this every day back and too in the Greek summer heat (AND) lets not forget all those huge amount of steps aswell haha.

The pool is a decent size for a nice swim and chilling out around.

This hotel really does tick all the boxes, and I can guarantee you now, you will NOT find a cheaper hotel offering all the amenities scirocco does which has a pool aswell along the caldera!!!

Would happily recommend to anyone.

We stayed in room #13, and maybe that's why we had bad luck, haha. Let's start with the positives: every room has a balcony, some are shared (ours was) and all of them have a GREAT view of the sunset. There are a lot of stairs, but of course there are, you're in Santorini! And I think the stairs make it and Fira/Oia unique. The room also came with a little kitchenette: fridge, dishes, which came in handy because we got a lot of food from the grocery store. The balcony has a table with two chairs, and two relaxing chairs. Some of the private balconies had lawn chairs. The owners are very friendly. There is also a pool on the lowest level. The rooms have air conditioning which is needed as it gets very warm. No tv, but you really don't need it. The wi-fi is really only available on the balcony and is touchy at times. They had someone pick us up from the airport and carry our bags down the stairs. The owner knew our names and would always say hi and ask how we were when he saw us. The rooms are cleaned every day, which is helpful since you can't flush the toilet paper (you definitely want the bathroom trash emptied every day, especially when you have digestive issues like we did...) There were some books on the shelf for you to read, and a clothesline on the balcony which was cool since we were doing our own laundry. No hairdryer. Now, for the issues we had. First of all, we THINK drinking their tap water made us sick. VERY sick. They say it's okay to drink, so we think it was just maybe that the greek water didn't agree with our systems, coddled by american water, haha. In addition to being sick on our second day there, and for days later, our sink broke, and had to be replaced, and our door handle broke, and had to be replaced. So long story short, great place, but maybe don't drink the tap water?

We stay for 6 nights room 14, amazing views and the room was spacious and clean as we expected, as we were shown pics of the room prior to booking. We arranged for a pick up from the airport which was quick and easy for only 18 euro. Eddie was there to meet us at the square to carry our bags to the hotel. Yes there are stairs but they are everywhere in Santorini, we are a couple of 63 & 55 years of age and we had no problems. Arthur who greeted us was fantastic as was all the team at Scirocco. We had a fantastic time and highly recommend.

While the view from these apartments is spectacular, that's probably about it. All rooms are clean, but very basic. And I mean basic. There are no fancy extras (maybe I expected too much?). I have to say, with all honesty that the beds are terrible. I have back problems anyway and these beds made it so much worse. If they were to improve one thing, new mattresses would be it. The walk up to the town each day was a killer - this MUST be known when booking. You need to be so physically fit to tackle this a few times a day, it would be impossible for older people and the disabled. For this fact alone I would never stay on this side of Santorini again, nor would I stay at these apartments again.

Room Tip: Here's a tip - Eddie the guy that carries all the suitcases is very easy on the eye, so this was...
