“BEAUTIFUL BRAND NEW HOTEL, STUNNING VIEWS, JUST AMAZING!!!”
Reviewed 21 September 2011

We loved every minute of our stay! The staff are amazing, nothing was too much trouble for them. Always with a smile and gave great attention to their guests. The hotel is brand new, therefore, giving some minor details to be fixed. However, this did not affect our stay. The rooms are perfectly cleaned every day, the mini bar has organic products (which is a great touch from the management) and the bathrooms are stocked with luxurious amenities.

Just refering to other guests comments about the road noise as the hotel is on the cliff off the main road. Well every now and then you can hear cars driving by, but as previous comments, the noise did not affect our sleep or our holiday.

Overall, we enjoyed every minute of our holiday and we will definately be returning to our second home, Petit Palace Suites. Thank you to all the staff that made our holiday unforgetable.

Room Tip: Choose a room with private pool!!!!!!!!

The staff at The petit Palace hotel were very friendly and welcoming. There is a general vagueness about how much things cost in the hotel. The rooms are clean and well maintained.
The breakfast was served on our balcony everyday , however the breakfast (ie toast, eggs etc) were invariably cold.
The pool is of a nice size, well kept and not crowded. At night time there was an intermitten rumbling noise which is the cars travelling on the road above the coves in which the rooms are built. This however didnt stop us from getting a good nights sleep. There is free fast wifi throughout the hotel and the rooms.

The hotel only has 19 rooms and thus not crowded. If you are unfit this hotel is not for you as there are stairs to pretty much all parts of the hotel.
We hire a quad bike to get around as the walk to Fira (towncentre) took under an hour.

If you want some food/snacks/drinks. Go to the local greek supermarket which is on the road towards Fira (5 min walk) which superb and great value.

Agreed to all comments by fennster. We just spent one night at petit palace and glad so as we enjoyed the other hotel at Oia a lot better. Hotel is very new and room is big. But some service still needs improvement for a top luxury hotel standard. There are not enough towels, no cleaning services for evenings, shower problems, almost empty fridge, etc. We certainly expect more as we just had a wonderful stay at another hotel in Oia. Staff is friendly and helpful. And the sunset view is good. We love the swimming pool deck. But it is further away from Fira so unless u have a car it may not be good idea to stay here. Also hotel is new so it is lacking the cute typical white washed houses design like others we like on island.

We stayed at the Petit Palace for two nights on our honeymoon and it could not have been more perfect. We arrived in Santorini by ferry from Crete, and took a van/taxi to the hotel. Our taxi driver asked where we were staying and when we told him petit palace, he said "I know 2000 hotels on this island and this is one of the nicest." We couldn't agree more.

The staff was very friendly and helpful, the shuttle to Fira was always on time, although the menu at the restaurant is small the food was great-much better than at most hotels, the rooms were large, clean, and unique. Breakfast on the private patio was a great way to start the day. Best of all, the views of the Caldera and the sunset were amazing.

I'd recommend this hotel to anyone.

My wife and I (both in our mid-30's) recently stayed at the Petit Palace for five nights. We were lucky enough that this was our second time in Santorini (previous visit was six years ago on our honeymoon).
Last time we stayed at a highly-rated hotel located in Imerovigli. This time back we found and chose the Petit Palace mainly because it was running a special through a flash sale site, plus its' solid reviews on TA.
The following are the pros and cons that we found during our stay...for reference purposes, we stayed in room 103:

Pros:
1. The view of the caldera from this property is spectacular. My wife and I made it a point ot be back to our room each night around 7:15pm so we could watch the sunset for 30-45 minutes. The view is so amazing that around sunset, people congregate at the road above the property to watch the sun go down.
2. The property is brand new and beautiful (opened this season). So, the rooms, common areas, pool, etc are in spectacular shape.
3. The rooms are modern and very spacious and our room, and most that we saw, had large semi-private terraces that are perfect for watching the sunset or sitting out while having breakfast.
4. Our deal included breakfast, which were we able to choose off a menu supplied to us the night before. It had a wide range of food to choose, from different types of eggs, meats, breads, salmon, coffees, teas, etc. The best part is that you pick a time to have it brought down to you and served to you on your semi-private terrace.
5. Mary Anne, an employee of Petit Palace was very helpful in booking dinner reservations, giving us recommendations as to what beach to hit, etc...plus, she did it with great enthusiasm and a smile.
6. For our first night at this property we arrived in the later evening and the manager recommended that we eat at the hotel's small restaurant that seems like it's just for guests. We were tired and didn't want to venture out into the night to find a place, so we agreed. I have to say that we were pleasantly surprised by the quality and presentation of the food provided.

Cons:
1. One of the two main detractions for us was the bathroom. While spacious and modern, the quarter circle jacuzzi bath tub did not have any kind of curtain or barrier to keep the water from spraying all over the bathroom....this becomes important because there is no separate shower.
You have two choices to clean yourself...one, you can bath in the small tub. There is a faucet that will fill up the tub. Next to the faucet is the other way to clean yourself. Slightly jutting out of the wall at about knee high, is a handheld hose with a sprayer attached. You can divert the water to the sprayer and then while either standing or sitting and carefully spray yourself down, all while keeping yourself and the sprayer angled toward the back wall so you don't completely soak the bathroom. Bottom line, it involves a lot of thought to simply shower yourself while not soaking the entire bathroom. It's basically impossible not to soak half the bathroom floor...and of course, there's no mat or towel provided for the shower floor.
I think what upset us most about this set up was that I had read a review on TA that spoke about a room not having a shower. So, well before I arrived I emailed the management and asked if all rooms had a shower and if not, could I be placed in a room that does have one. I received a prompt response that informed me that all suites (all its rooms are considered suites) have a "bathtub and inbuilt shower". When we asked the front desk, they told us that all but 3 of the suites have the same set up as ours. I was not able to personally verify this statement, but I assume that the employee was not lying to us.
2. Unlike a lot of other hotels on the island, this one was built right down the cliff from the a major road in Santorini. If you stay in Oia, Firastefani, Imerovigli or Fira, the vast majority of those hotels are built down the cliff on the caldera as well, but the main road is no where near the caldera cliff at those locations. This hotel, being several minutes outside of Fira and in a more desolate area is literally down the cliff, right off the road. The issue with this is that in our room (103) day or night you could hear the road noise. Now this road noise wasn't the sound of cars passing by, this noise was a low rumbling which sounded like a very small earthquake each time a vehicle went by on the highway (the larger the vehicle the deeper the rumbling). In all honesty, though annoying at first, it sort of became like white noise which was present but didn't effect our sleep or anything else while in the room....though, I think people should know that it is there as light sleepers or other people sensitive to noise may want to consider this.
3. The location is a bit desolate. There of course are cabs (which went on strike for a few days during our stay) and a shuttle (which I overheard other patrons complaining about due to excessive wait times). These are necessary if you don't have a rental vehicle because to get to the nearest town (Fira) it's about a 25-30 minute walk (we love to walk, but to have to walk to lunch or dinner 30 minutes everytime is a bit much). And other than the restaurants in Fira there are virtually none anywhere near this property. By way of differentiation, when we stayed in Imerovigli six years prior there were many restaurants both in the town and in nearby towns that were a short distance walk....plus, other areas like Oia and Fira have a multitude of restaurants to choose from that are easily accessible by foot. Bottom line, we rented a car and were extremely glad we did so!!

To sum things up, though we enjoyed staying at the Petit Palace, if we went back to Santorini (which we desperately want to) we would probably look for another place to stay. There appear to be a lot of high quality, boutique hotels on the island with amazing views of the caldera and sunset. Of course, some are better than others. In my opinion, what sets them apart are their location, the service provided, and the property itself (including the amenties provided in the room).

Room Tip: Further down the hill may help lessen road vibration....also, ask for a room with an actual elevated...

My girlfriend and I stayed at this hotel and loved every minute of it.

Location - perfect as it's very close to Fira, yet far enough away to feel like you have a private little corner of the Santorini cliffside. The free shuttle into town eliminates any inconvenience from not being in town as well.

Style - again, perfect. A great combination of being brand new and modern, very luxurious, while preserving the wonderful traditional style of being built into the cliffside. Includes wonderful amenities from a gorgeous, sparkling pool to the complimentary wireless high-speed internet in your room.

Staff - very friendly and hospitable, most of whom we became good friends with by the end of our week there.

One thing to note is that there is not a large amount of choice on the food menu, so most meals were taken in town. However, every morning you are served an a la carte breakfast on your private balcony overlooking the ocean, which is just the best way to wake up as I can imagine.

All in all I'd highly recommend this place to anyone as it really captures everything most people go to Santorini for!

Room Tip: If you get a multi-day package, you can be given a free room upgrade.

Onec you arrive at Petit Palace - you have to look for it. Trust me it is a pleasant surprise - without divulging any further on the surprise element.

Situated on the caldera with stunning views you can cannot expect a more tranquil place. The staff was extremely friendly and helped plan our activities in Santorini. The romm was spacious and living room perfect. The best part was the breakfast - it was a la carte and served in your room/balcony.

The area for improvement is the restaurant - there is very limited vegeterian options and given my wife was vegeterian we had only one meal there.
