“Lovely view and great staff, some improvements are required to make it a proper 5 star”
Reviewed 1 September 2013 via mobile

My husband and I stayed here for four nights. The view is undoubtly outstanding, we were provided with an ample terrace overlooking the caldera and the breakfast on the terrace at no additional charge was an added bonus. You are given an a la carte breakfast, which is tasty but could use more variety in terms of healthier products or any form of whole grain. The staff were very attentive and kind and helped us with transportion to and from the airport (at cheaper than taxi rates), as well to make reservations and bookings. The hotel however does lack multiple details that would make it a five star. We asked for a queen/king bed and we were given two twin beds set together, (turn down service was only provided two of our four nights); the bathroom was incredibly small and the shower even smaller. The shower was enclosed by a horrible shower curtain, with mould on the bottom, which further seemed to come into the space meaning you were constantly being touched by it. We also had a sunset dinner on the terrace which was very tasty, made full use of the fantastic view and gave us an opportunity to enjoy the complimentary wine and canapes which they provided. In conclusion, we enjoyed our stay in the hotel, however with a few adjustments the hotel could be easily improved.

Aigialos Luxury Traditional Houses are well located, just a short stroll to town centre. Great views and sunsets. Good and clean rooms, private balcony. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Menu is a bit limited, but plenty of eating all around anyway

Room Tip: Up the stairs - with balcony. Not close to walk paths etc

I can not say enough about this gem. Fantastic location. Unbelievable views of the caldera. you feel like you are floating in space. and the best food we had in two weeks of travel through Greece and Paris. The included breakfast was heavenly and always a surprise dish. The Service and attitude was at the highest level. We loved every minute. The beds are incredibly comfortable which is a must for us. The traditional cave rooms are elegant, though they have more limited views. Every room has a wonderful terrace. One of our most enjoyable experiences was having dinner served to us on our terrace. We would stay here again when we return. And , by the way, what a great value. Outstanding

Room Tip: The traditional rooms are elegant and large, but have limited windows.

Earlier this month, we returned to The Aigialos for the third time over the past fifteen years. We are drawn to the small hotel, the perfect location, and the breathtaking views. As there are only 12 apartments, it is very quiet, and feels like home. The staff is charming, and more than willing to help in any way you request. We were on Santorini for a family wedding, and the hotel not only accomodated other friends and family; they also allowed us to host a cocktail party and dinner the night before the wedding. It was beautifully done, the food was delicious, and they met every request with lovely attention to detail. We have now visited as a couple alone, a family with teenagers, and a couple entertaining a wedding party planned entirely by email. We love The Aigialos, and appreciate everyone there!

If you're looking for a traditional hotel in Fira and you want to stay in the village and not outside as many other 5s locations this is a place where to stay. You'll enjoy a wonderful view over the "caldera" of the volcano, a romantic place around a small but "charmante" swimming pool where you'll take your breakfast if you don't want to take it on your own terrace, very nice and kind staff (form the moment they pick up us at the port, when we arrived at the reception and they offered us a very fresh "mastiha" beverage till the moment they bring us again to the port). You can walk from your apt to the center of Fira as you are in the old part just few minutes from the main church. You'll enjoy the quiet of the place and you'll feel in heaven. Don't miss it! The point why I gave a very good rating and not an excellent rating is because the bathroom needs to be modernized and it isn't what you expect from a 5s hotel.

Room Tip: You have only to ask to the staff when you book your room (every room is different), some are not re...

We stayed three nights. The hotel is in an ideal location, just a short stroll from Fira. The views of the caldera are amazing from the various terraces and whilst the pool is modest in size it was certainly a bonus to have it available after a long day of being out and about.

All the staff were very attentive, assisting with restaurant bookings etc. The complimentary bottle of chilled white wine and canapés was a very nice touch. Breakfast, which can be brought to your terrace or taken in the shady courtyard was generous and included exquisite sweet and savoury homemade pastries. The rooms are charming, with simple furnishings but importantly very comfortable beds. I would highly recommend a stay here at Aigiolos.
