“Breathtaking views and fantastic service!”
Reviewed 15 January 2014

We stayed four nights at Aigialos and used it as a base from which to visit Santorini. The room had a beautiful view of the the sea/volcano and came with a mini porch area overlooking the sea. Being a former monastry, the design and set-up of Aigialos is both unique and enchanting. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and also organised airport pick-ups and drop-offs free of charge. Aigalos is the perfect romantic hideaway from which to explore Santorini! We certainly plan to go again.

This is a breathtaking location with an extremely friendly and helpful staff! The rooms are spacious and have wonderful private balconies to view the beautiful waters of the Aegean Sea and magnificent sunsets God provides! Our family of five adults loved the fact that a delicious breakfast was included with our room and was brought up and served to us on our own balcony. The Aigialos Hotel is conveniently located near the shopping and restaurants as well as the public transportation center. We had an amazing stay here and would recommend the Aigialous Hotel to anyone who visits Santorini!

My husband and I have just returned from a holiday in Europe and were lucky enough to spend 4 glorious days and nights in Santorini. I had looked on trip advisor when deciding where to stay and Aigiolos had great reviews. We were not disappointed as on arrival the view from our terrace just took our breath away! The staff were so helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We enjoyed having our breakfast delivered to our private terrace each morning and I have never had such yummy food . I just miss that Greek yoghurt with honey and the creamy feta scrambled eggs so much. Aigiolos hotel is traditional Greek in style and we had our bed in an all white cave. Just gorgeous. Enjoyed seeing the donkeys going down to the port each morning to pick up cruise boat tourists, loved the chilled glass of wine while watching the spectacular sunset and then out for an evening stroll around Fira to eat at another amazing restaurant. Heaven on earth in our opinion and we still daydream about it all. There are many hotels to choose from in Fira but if you want to splurge a little then Aigiolos is definitely worth booking. Oh and the photos all look like professional postcards. Love love love Santorini and Aigiolos Hotel.

Room Tip: All the rooms have their own special features and little terrace for eating and watching the sunset...

My wife and I have travelled around the world and we must say this is one of the nicest hotels that we have stayed at. The staff are fabulous. Vivi the manager is fabulous and help planned our private catamaran tour, transporation, etc. We were upgraded to a room that had 4 private terraces with spectacular sunsets and breakfasts. This is truly a great find.

I wanted to thank from all my heart the Aigialos hotel Manager Vivi and Mikas for organizing for us our wedding on 12th October 2013 in the Orthodox Cathedral Church of Fira. I am Polish catholic and my husband is Australian orthodox. We live in Dubai and we decided to invite our closest family to celebrate our marriage in Santorini. We all were staying for 3 nights (15 people + two children ) in Aigialos hotel in different rooms and there was no single complain from anyone. We had no wedding planner and they both, without charging us anything extra, did such a wonderful job by helping us with all the paper work, priest, rehearsal dinner hosted in the hotel's garden restaurant, sunset drinks reception after the wedding ceremony and last minute arrangements. Mikas following his own initiative was translating to English the priest wishes for us in Greek on the end of the ceremony, as the ceremony is held in Greek language. Vivi allowed us to use almost entire hotel for our wedding video photo shooting. They both walked an extra mile every moment we needed them with professionalism, positive attitude and smile! The hotel is amazingly located on the quiet side of Fira, but only meters away from Fira main centre. It has charming, traditional Greek rustic decor. You have to try the restaurant food as they have one of the best chefs in town! Absolutely worth it! Our rehearsal dinner for 15 people was delicious and perfect. You need to be a little patient during the breakfast if you eat in the restaurant, as the half of restaurant team does not speak English very well, and they can be very slow with orders, but you can simply order everything to your private terrace and this is solved already. As well there is not much choice with the breakfast variety, which is every day more or less the same, served a la carte, so after 5 days you might want eat something else then eggs : ) I do not recommend paying extra for honey moon villa, as we were the most happy in one of the top located normal category rooms, which has in our opinion a bit wider view and more space. You truly do not need a wedding planner to organize the wedding abroad, if you have such wonderful hotel management supported by a great team! I recommend to bring with you the wedding decorations, as this is very expensive cost in Santorini. We had orgazna, ribbons, beautiful artificial flowers and it was enough as the place is magnificent enough. It did not weight a lot in the luggage and even paying extra for extra luggage will come cheaper than florist in Fira. Everyone was recommending more expensive Oia town and we are so glad we stayed in Fira, which is bigger, and less crowd, very close to the main airport with the wonderful Orthodox Cathedral. You can always go to Oia for a day trip which was very nice, but way too many tourists even on the end of the season. Everyone was saying that in October it will be very chill and windy. Upon arrival on 8th October till departure on 18th October the weather was amazing and sunny with up to 31 degrees, so plan your weddings in October as the weather is perfect!!! : ) For the wedding party with loud music and dancing floor we recommend Assyrtico Restaurant. The restaurant has simple design which can be dressed with any wedding decorations you want. If you need to outsource the cake I fully recommend Agnieszka Tarkowska pastry to be found on Facebook. She did for us delicious black forest cake! Everyone wanted more. For hair and make up the best in the world Renia Bledaki and Bella from www.beauty-santorini.com. Fast and efficient, natural and stunning! Our video crew arrived in car from Poland as the local ones did not convinced us and were extremely expensive, offering minimum service. www.greenart-studio.com created amazing movie shooting at the rehearsal dinner, at the wedding day, and entire day after. The movie is called the Odyssey and is breathtaking and can be viewed on their website or by clicking the link https://vimeo.com/77208561. All was simply beautiful, delicious and perfect. It ticked all our boxes. The best trip of our life and most beautiful wedding we could ever dream about. Our family was extremely happy as well. We promised them that the baptism of our children in future will be held in the same Cathedral and we will stay in the same hotel for this occasion and for our every year anniversary... Thank you again for giving us the most wonderful memories!

Room Tip: no need to pay for honey moon villa as every single room from standard offer is great. especially th...

Nice hotel with great vision of the Sea but one needs to enjoy hiking to enjoy this property. The steps are steep and the staff is top notch though I was disappointed with an up charge on the rooms and the fact that our room got somewhat flooded in a storm. Otherwise the hotel is pretty but avoid the restaurant the 1500 attached to the hotel.
