“Excellent Guesthouse with Excellent Stuffs”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 September 2013

I booked this guesthouse by chance. It turns out to be the most impressive place I have ever stayed. Needless to talk about the heavenly Santorini, Costa Marina Villas offers all you need and dream for.
The location is excellent, not at the cliff side of Fira (by the way, I will never want to be seen and photographed every other second when I sit in my hotel balcony), but very closed to city centre and bus stop, where you can get bus to go all villages in Santorini. Yet, the place is very quiet at night and you can definitely get a good rest for the next wonderful day.
Besides the location, the stuffs are extremely helpful and friendly, especially Maria and Marina. They always greet you with warm smiles and provide you useful tips and information. If they are not sure, they call immediately to ask and give you an answer right away. I love this attitude. During the breakfast, the stuffs are very friendly, polite and efficient. You don't have to wait for long to see your table is full with all kind of delicious stuffs. By the way, their breakfast is definitely awesome and generous. You got a basket of warm breads, a boiled egg, yogurts with fruits, cakes and a pot of coffee. To be honest, the breakfast is the best I have ever had. In comparison, Roman breakfast is good for nothing.

The room is very clean and cozy, they definitely put a nice touch of design. It is very Greek and Mediterranean style.

I will definitely come back here again and recommend to my friends who want to visit Santorini.

Room Tip: Choose the ground floored room, you will get nice view, high roof and the biggest balcony.

We stayed for 3 nights in one of the new rooms - good size room, great bathroom & shower, & nice view of the sunrise. Marina is an excellent host - nothing was genuinely too much trouble. The location was great, just a short 3 minute walk into town but far enough away to be perfectly quiet at night. Great value for money - highly recommended.

This is really a gem on Santorini.

The Positives:
- Great rooms with high end furniture and bathroom facilities.
- Very reasonable pricing. In September, I paid 60 euro for 2 person and the manager allowed me to stay for 1 more night as a single for 40 euro.
- Very friendly manager. This is actually her family home, converted into a villa for vacationers. She will give you wonderful advice on restaurants and things to do.
- The view - it faces the other side of the Santorini Cauldron, which gives us a wonderful sunrise view.
- Very quiet at night. None of the street noise in Fira.

The negatives:
- There isn't any. You will love it!

Room Tip: I will pick any room facing the sea.

I can't say enough about how great our delightful hostess, Marina was. When we arrived we discovered that our bag had been tampered with so she quickly informed the Police and made all the arrangements for us to go and report our loss.

That aside our room was simply delightful, comfortable bed, great shower, free wifi with a very pleasant patio outside where we could sit and gaze out to sea. So peaceful and yet only a short walk to the town centre of Fira, perfect.

Marina and her staff were most helpful and knowledgeable, suggesting restaurants, beaches sheltered from the wind, hire place to rent a motor cycle from and so on. And they didn't mind a bit when we took over the lounge to watch a game of rugby!

Thank you so much Marina, we were here for a special occasion and Costa Marina could not have been a better choice. We thoroughly recommend your hotel to others visiting this lovely Island

This was definitely our favorite hotel we stayed at while in Greece, and among our favorites we've ever stayed at on a vacation! The customer service was not just friendly, but exceptional. They really go above and beyond to make sure you have a great stay, not like any other hotel I've stayed at (including expensive resorts, which are overrated in my opinion). It's a lovely little property with flowers on the well-maintained building that gives a great ambiance. Our room (a triple) was lovely too, very light and airy with a tall ceiling and lots of windows, and also had a small balcony that's great for an evening drink. The balcony view was partially of another building (but nice looking) and partially of the east side of the island. I especially liked the balcony because of the flowers all around it. Location is easy walking distance to town. We had a great time and appreciated the hospitality!

We loved our stay here! We're often a bit wary of hotels where the owners are billed as 'making the stay special' - as we like our privacy too. But Marina, Maria and the other staff are just perfect. This is how hospitality should be done everywhere - a really warm welcome; really helpful approach; knowlegable advice on things you might want to do and places you might want to visit - but without being too intrusive either.
Our room was characterful and a good size and spotlessly cleaned. Bed and pilows were comfortable and our balcony, although small, was lovely so sit out on.

The hotel is situated only a few minutes walk from the main pedestrianised street in Fira, on a quite side road. We really valued staying this tiny bit away from the pretty hectic, bustling central area - it felt really relaxing to come back to our peaceful home from home. You also get a 10% discount card for the nearby family restaurant, and the food there was great so definitely recommend you take advantage of that.

Our stay here was without doubt excellent value for money - we were really impressed with the competitive rate before arriving and even more impressed when we found out how great the hotel is ..... and how sad we were to leave. Staying here will definitely make your time in Santorini special.

(The AD Laundry Station opposite the end of the road provides a great service wash - a large basket of clothes quickly washed, dried and amazingly folded for you for a good price).

When I was reading in the reviews about owners and staff of Costa Marina, I thought people are exaggerating.. No! they are not! Marina, Maria and others are just GREAT!!!
We came to Santorini as a big group for our wedding and chose CostaMarina as a base to stay for us and our relatives. Girls took care about us and our endless visitors! They were very helpful, friendly and attentive!) Gave great advices and provided with everything we needed!)
We felt like home there!!!

Few words about the hotel:
Rooms are with simple but nice traditional design and rather spacious. Ours was with a very beautiful view. Breakfast was fare and nobody pushed us to have it until 10:00 (it was served to us even if we were very late) .
Location is very convenient: close to the centre, but in a quiet street, so you can relax and not be bothered by cars and laud music from the bars.
The hotel is surrounded by trees and flowers) There is also a parking for 6 cars.
2 minutes walk to fruit shop, 7 minutes to bus station. 5 minutes to the centre square and shops, 10 to Caldera.
P/s If you are with seniors or kids take the room at the first floor, so you avoid steps

Some remarks from our Santorini experience:
- The boat trip we took from Fira old port was nice (Volcano+Sunset), although we were disappointed by Hot Springs - they were not hot at all and it was very dirty there (waste from tourists etc..)..
- Do not take donkeys from the old port to go up.. the trip is very uncomfortable.. and it's rather smelly experience.. We used a cable car - it is fast and the view is great!))
- Some cafes on Caldera (for example Select) are extremely pricey and the service is low! Check the menu and the smile of the waiter before taking a seat!
- The buses from Fira are going to any location of the island - very convenient
- Fira archaeological museum and Akrotiri excavation are worth visiting (for history lovers)
- Also visit Oia for great sunset and Kamari for black-sand beaches!)
