My baby son and I enjoyed two great nights' stay this month as we stopped over between flight and ferry en route to Sikinos. I chose it because of the number and consistency of great reviews on this site and am pleased to report that everyone is right and I am pleased to be able to add my endorsement.
Marina and her team could not have been more welcoming or helpful at every stage of our stay, in spite of my several large and heavy bags which Marina insisted on carrying for me. It was the sort of 'extra mile' service that you wonder why everyone can't offer but is surprisingly rare.
The rooms were spotless and on our outbound stay, we were offered a free upgrade to a fabulous room with balcony and view over the sea, with a fig tree and bougainvillea draped around, while on our return leg, we stayed in a ground floor room also with a view of the sea and a very original interior stone wall and stylish wet-room type bathroom. This also had a lovely little private terrace where I noticed other guests sitting out and using theirs for a morning coffee.
Breakfast was really excellent and great, very practical advice about getting the best from all things Santorini willingly and freely dispensed.
Despite being super central - literally a five minute walk to the heart of town and from the bus station - it has the feeling of being one step removed from the hustle which was very welcome. The beautiful garden certainly helps with this.
This is not the cheapest place to stay but I think it is vey good value and worth paying a little more for. The only thing I could spot for improvement was the map giving directions on how to get there - walking down from the bus terminal, I still overshot the turn off from the main road, so a clearer signpost on the map or indeed the street itself would be useful from my perspective.
Thanks again Marina - we will be back!
Best wishes
Liz and Benjamin.
