“Fabulous Hotel Majestic and its staff”
Reviewed 22 June 2011

I have just returned from a week with my husband at the Majestic and was a little sceptical after reading a few recent reviews! However it was fabulous. The hotel is gorgeously stylish and minimal, pool and sunbed so relaxing, clean and quiet, loads of beds and no saving beds at dawn!
The lunches at the Pool bar were fantastic. Our room with a Caldera view was great, clean, nice bed linen and with drinks making facilities, lovely good size bathroom and plenty of toiletries if required.
The breakfasts were great but the staff in the restaurant including Eurina and Rena plus the Pool Bar staff were lovely, friendly and couldnt help enough, really lovely people. Overall we found everyone on Santorini incredibly friendly - even shopkeepers where you didnt buy anything.
Although the hotel is a good 10 min walk into the town of Thira the town is steep and cobbled and it was nice to get out of the busy town back to a quiet oasis. Thira town gets busy with tourists from the cruise ships and can be very hot and claustrophobic during the day but at night it cools off.
We ate in the town but wished we had eaten in the hotel restaurant more after hearing how good the food was from other guests. It initially looks expensive but realistically we paid similar amounts for dinner at tavernas that were very mediocre.
Beware of Thira airport on your return, it is a nightmare! Totally disorganised, not enough space and total chaos!

We stayed here for 7 days while on our Honeymoon. The hotel itself is very nice and has great service. It has a lot of amenities- a workout room and game room with darts and a billards table. Internet is free and wireless in your room. The front desk people are very nice and willing to answer any questions or try to accomodate any requrests you might have. You will be escorted to your room and shown how things operate in it and a porter will deliver your bags to you.

Our room was very spacious and almost felt like an apartment with the upstairs and downstairs area. Though the bedroom was upstairs and the bathroom downstairs so a middle of the night trip to the bathroom was a little inconvenient. The bathroom was huge though, and had lots of counterspace which was great. As honeymooners, we were excited that there was a jacuzzi tub, until we realized it was so small that there is no way that 2 people could both sit in it comfortably.

We had a great balcony, that we very much enjoyed. Though, we were disappointed that we did not get a room with a view of the Caldera. One side of the hotel overlooks the Caldera which is very pretty, the other side touts a "view of the Agean". The Agean is several miles away and we found that we could never actually see the Agean due to the daily haze.

Location wise, the hotel is a short walk into Fira, the main town in Santorini. Fira has lots of wonderful little restaraunts and good shopping. However, if you want to see the island or hit any of the beaches you will have to rent a car as the only thing in walking distance is the city. The hotel does offer free parking.

The pool area of the hotel is wonderful. There are actually 2 lovely pools, so if sitting around the pool is your thing, then you probably can't find a nicer one and there is a pool bar that is open pretty much all of the time (though the drinks are a bit pricey). The pool itself is only open in the afternoon and is shut off in the evening.

Room Tip: Definitely ask for a room with the Caldera view

Stayed here for three nights with my fiancee on the tail end of a trip to Croatia and Greece. Overall, it was a great stay.

Pros: EXTREMELY friendly service. Any needs/questions we had were promptly taken care of by the hotel staff. For example, they called us taxis, scheduled daytrips (ATVs), and gave us directions and recommendations. The hotel room itself was very nice. One side of this hotel is adjacent to a road. Some reviews complained about noise, but I did not hear anything. One positive about this side of the hotel is the AMAZING views of the sunset. Internet access is also free in the rooms. The pool is beautifl as well.

Cons: The hotel is a bit of a walk from the city of Fira. It's about 10 minutes away walking. Not a big deal for me but worth mentioning for folks who don't like walking. It's not close to any beach either. If that's important to you, you may want to consider an alternative hotel.

Overall, the staff really makes this place. Can't say that enough! Highly recommended!

Room Tip: Simply ask the staff. They are beyond helpful!

My fiance and I stayed here in mid-May. We were extremely impressed with the level of service we received upon arrival. We were escorted to our hotel room by one of the hotel staff who made sure we were comfortable. They also arranged our 4-wheeler rental and dinner in Oia. The staff was extremely approachable and professional.

The hotel itself is beautiful. We loved the modern and clean feel at Majestic. The walk into Fira was a little long but the view of the volcano during the walk made it worth it. The sunset outside our window was absolutely stunning as well!

Our flight out of Athens was very early so we were up at 5AM to catch the complimentary shuttle. The staff had set out a small continental breakfast just for us with danishes, fruit, and coffee. I was extremely impressed with their level of attentiveness and detail at 5AM in the morning!

We HIGHLY recommend the hotel. Great stay and I hope to return soon!

When we arrived we did not get the room we requested on the Caldera side, however,
the staff moved us to the requested room the next day.
The staff was great from the bellman to the waitstaff in the restaurant.

If you are going to Santorini for your honeymoon or a romantic getaway you really need to check out Oia not Fira. The biggest issue we had with this hotel was that it was right on the main road for the island and so the main view and sound was of traffic, which is unfortunate given the beautiful coastline of the island. The website really tries to depict it as being on the coast, but it isnt even close. The amenities and hotel itself were ok, but In Santorini I think location is key, and we would have gladly traded one for the other. Overall the biggest gripe for the hotel is that the website presents it as something it is not. As a sidenote, our room also had a bad odor to it (cigarettes and sewer!). I'd tell people to stay away.

Rooms and pool are adequate, but nothing special. Too far(about 1.5KM) out of Fira and poor to no taxi service during peak hours. Callous staff attitude ("No taxi, what can we do?").Restaurant food is OK, but the really special ones with views and ambience are all in town. If you want a special Santorini experience, go elswhere - there are many better choices.
