“Wonderful place for a family with people of all ages”
Reviewed 13 August 2010

We were there with our entire family ( 10 adults and 12 grandchildren). We rented five tupas so that each family could have their privacy, yet we could be together as a family for meals, fun and conversation. The small children could play in the courtyard of the tupas and at the sand beach in complete safety. People could hike, bike, swim, fish, boat in a variety of craft, use the sauna, play games etc. Ann and Olavi Hirvonen and their staff are most gracious.

My husband and I just got back from a lovely stay at Lapland Lake Nordic Center, a perfect summer getaway. Most of the reviews here are about cross-country skiing, but I also recommend a visit to this peaceful and secluded spot in the summer. There is hiking, canoes & kayaks, a nice beach for kids, and the tupas are very cosy. This beautiful spot seems to be a labor of lover for its dedicated owners, and was much appreciated.

This was a bit of a shot in the dark based on TripAdvisor ratings, and we weren't disappointed. After the first couple of hours, we were trying to figure out how to stay another night, but couldn't work it in. The location is perfect, not hard to get to and the lake and other amenities were great. I like the fact that there was no extra charge to use the canoes and kayaks. The cabins were decently sized for the four of us and the kitchen had everything we needed.
One note of warning if you're a hiker: the cross-country ski trails do not make good hiking. They are overgrown and not really maintained as hiking trails. There is other hiking nearby, though.

Our family has been coming to Lapland Lake in the summer since 1988. We have always loved the quiet beauty of the surrounding nature, gliding across Woods Lake in a kayak or canoe, swimming out to the raft in the "luscious" water, joining the campfire for S'mores, playing Clue or Scrabble at night in the cozy living room of the tupa, or visiting the office to see what new dog or kitty has been added to the welcoming committee. If you need to recharge your batteries, this is the place!! Even the 20-somethings look forward to the annual pilgrimage!!

We're summertime visitors and have been taking our four kids there since they were quite small. We often rendezvous with other friends and spend a week cooking wonderful feasts together. Ann & Olavi are lovely and attentive hosts and the resort is entirely peaceful, which is just what we need... the kids bike to the lake, there's no TV or electronics, there's always something to do, some boats, a little swimming, a little sun, hiking for those who want to, on the great trails; some boardgames, a bottle of wine, wood fired sauna, a very welcome part of our year.

Anyone really interested in stepping back and truly enjoying nature and all it has to offer should consider this place. Tucked way back in the mountians, this place has helps soothe the soul. Warm reception upon check in, well maintained grounds and a overall peacefull feeling surround you. Our Tupa was spottless and was equiped with everything we needed. Just bring clothing, food and beverage and a desire to relax and you wont be disappointed. We only stayed 1 night after a visit to nearby Animal Land and found ourselves not wanting to come back home. Owners were the most gracious hosts and we cannot wait for the next trip north.

Great place to get away! Very private and quiet. Great for young kids. We had a wonderful time spending 3 days playing at the beach. Our tupa was very comfortable and nicely equipped! Definitely will visit again!
