The Orendaga on Northville Lake
Reviewed 12 March 2014

The setting on the lake is really lovely. The cabin was very comfortable and spacious. The front porch had nice seating and a pretty view. There were chairs scattered on the lawn closer to the water that were also nice. We weren't there when it was warm enough to swim altho there is easy access to the water.

We stayed in the Blue Bird cabin. It has its own fully renovate and very modern kitchen, which was wonderful for our week's stay. The cabin was very chic in decor and very private and absolutely comfortable. The staff was extremely helpful with suggestions for various things around the adorable town. They have a cool art studio where you can take pottery classes, and we purchased a set of dishes which we still so love! Thank you for a great stay!

Room Tip: I love the Blue Bird cabin! They also have suites which looked lovely, but we really liked the priv...

We stayed at The Orendaga cabin the second week in SEPTEMBER. Very peaceful! The cabin is quaint and gorgeous. Loved the small town and colors of the Fall leaves. Private beach. Free usage of canoes and kayaks. We are yearly visitors and will return more often. We had a great time at The Broad Albin Craft fair and ate Lanzis on The Lake.

Room Tip: The Orendaga Cabin

We stayed here for two nights for my birthday. The rooms were beautiful and the cabin was tastefully decorated. They provide organic coffee and handmade soaps. We were rigtht on the water and there were boats to use. Warning: you have to walk through lots of muck before swimming. The price was the biggest negative. We chose the Orendaga cabin which sleeps 5 and costs 200 a night. Warning: this price is for two people only! You have to pay an extra 25.00 per person per night. We arrived before check-in and when we asked if we could use the beach before checking in we were told no. Beautiful but pricey!

We stayed in suite 1. Rooms new and nice. By a nice lake with free kayaks and row boat. Nice people. A little noisy. On one hand I could appreciate the cicadas to the right but heard all the traffic to the left, as room 1 is near the road. And there is an art studio and people park by room 1. So a lot of opening and closing car doors, and a lot of chit chat. I'd stay in the cabins away from the main road.

Our family of five stayed in the Bluebird Cabin, and it was perfect for us, with two bedrooms downstairs and a loft bedroom with twin beds up a spiral staircase. The cabin was spacious, clean and comfortable with a nice of view of the well-maintained grounds. It's just a steps from the small waterfront, and we enjoyed using the kayaks and rowboats available for the guests. The small Northville Lake is great for kayaking, as there are no motorboats on the lake. The town is just around the corner, and there are restaurants in town and along Great Sacandaga Lake. We thoroughly enjoyed a very relaxing time at The Orendaga.

Room Tip: The Orendaga Cabin in closest to the water.

We stayed in unit 1 - the Blue Heron suite. Very nicely done room. Carpentry skills by the owners were outstanding. Nice comfortable room with a separate kitchen and a nice location.
The only downside was a bathroom sink that was very narrow - I'm a big guy and I couldn't fit between the two walls when I stood at the sink without both arms touching the walls. And the shower was very small as well. But these shouldn't stop you from staying here. I would definitely stay here again!
